Advocate.com EXCLUSIVE: "Listen to Adam Lambert's Song About LGBT Equality" EXCLUSIVE: Listen to Adam Lambert's Song About LGBT Equality BY JEREMY KINSER | MAY 10 2012 10:56 AM ET www.advocate.com/arts-entertainment/music/2012/05/10/exclusive-listen-adam-lamberts-song-about-lgbt-equality
Music superstar Adam Lambert says he was inspired to write "Outlaws of Love," one of standout tracks on his new album Trespassing, by the struggle for marriage equality.
"I wrote 'Outlaws of Love' to lament the LGBT community's struggle for equal rights and acceptance," the singer tells The Advocate. "It saddens me to think that we find ourselves essentially 'outlawed' in certain communities because of our basic human desire for companionship. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, however. I am thrilled that President Obama had the guts to speak out —even in an election year — for the traditional American values of justice and equality for all. It's a bold step in the right direction."
Trespassing, the followup to Lambert's hit debut album For Your Entertainment, will be released May 15. Listen to "Outlaws of Love" below.

On half of his often-dazzling sophomore album the pop superstar makes the dance record we’ve longed for, but Glambert also wraps his magnificent voice around gorgeous melodies — some with politically infused lyrics. Standout tracks include the liberating "Cuckoo"and the stirring equality anthem "Outlaws of Love." Available Tuesday.

LGBT Power Poll Results: "Who Topped the Reader List? ...by a landslide: Adam Lambert" LGBT Power Poll Results: Who Topped the Reader List? 5.10.2012
BY OUT.COM EDITORS www.out.com/entertainment/popnography/2012/05/10/adam-lambert-ellen-degeneres-most-powerful-lgbt-america?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+OutComFeatures+%28Out.com+Features+|+Fashion%2C+Style%2C+Celebrity%2C+Opinion+for+the+Modern+Gay+Man%29
Who did you think the most powerful LGBT person in America is? You voted. We have the results. This year, when we published Out's Sixth Annual Power List—which ranked 65 LGBT people according to their political, social, economic, and overall cultural influence—we also asked our readers to let us know who they thought deserved to be included. Well, as you might have predicted, it seems to prove that TV and celebrity (rather than politics or behind-the-scenes hard workers) matter most to people, and the poll turned into a bit of a popularity contest. And who topped the list? It was a write-in candidate, and he won by a landslide:
Adam Lambert
As one commenter wrote: "Adam Lambert has far more followers than just those who discovered him on Idol. He has a large international fanbase and took the gutsy road with his honesty when he became well-known. He is an advocate for human rights, not just gay issues. Not to mention the killer voice."
Although there were desenters. Another voter wrote: "You guys have ruined the 'validity' of the poll. I love Adam too, but come on."
Although it seems that was enough to get him to top of the list with close to 2,000 people writing in his name to declare him the "Moster Powerful LGBT Person in America".
Following in a close second place was Ellen DeGeneres with many people championing her, along with Rachel Maddow. As someone named Nina wrote: "Rachel Maddow is not only Brilliant, but her ability to shoot down every Republican argument with FACTS garners immense respect..and strikes fear in the opposition. A better role model there is not." Anderson Cooper was the most contentious in Out's poll, with many contending that a glass closeted person, no matter how influential, should never been recognized as having power. But he still made it on to the reader's poll at No. 4. And Neil Patrick Harris, rounded out the list, although Dan Savage and Barney Frank were nipping at his heels.
Then there were the people who wrote in who vociferously asked, "Where is Chi Chi LaRue?" Yes, where is he indeed?
The top 5 from the Power List poll are:
1. Adam Lambert
2. Ellen DeGeneres
3. Rachel Maddow
4. Anderson Cooper
5. Neil Patrick Harris

Actor Neil Patrick Harris (@actuallynph)
"President Obama announces his support for same-sex marriage. ... Bravo, Mr. President, and thank you."
The Rev. Al Sharpton

Rosie O'Donnell
"I thank the President for his courage in standing for equality---this is true leadership---this is America."
Kim Kardashian
"It's about time! Wow... I just heard that President Obama has officially announced that he supports gay marriage!! This is such a huge step forward in our country's fight for civil rights and I hope that today this will give hope to so many young people across the country. We've never had a president so supportive of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and today I am proud to be an American!! I'm so happy that our country is making history and moving forward. No more living in the past!"
Singer Cyndi Lauper
"President Obama continues to be a true leader for equality and I have never been prouder to call him my president than I am today. The president's support of marriage equality gives hope and encouragement to the millions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people who feel ostracized and alone. "
Singer Rob Thomas
"I am simultaneously proud to live in a country where our President openly speaks for equality for all and sad that it's even still a question that it's deserved."
Singer Melissa Etheridge
"Every now and then an American gets a chance to be a leader, and change the world. President Obama has taken that chance and has made a choice that signals the tipping point in our culture's definition of love and family. His announcement brings in the new age of acceptance of diversity for which every American will benefit."
Singer Adam Lambert
"It is great that President Obama had the guts to speak out -even in an election year- for the traditional American values of justice and equality for all."

Adam Lambert dropped by E!’s late night talk show, Chelsea Lately, to talk about his new album “Trespassing.” Like most of her interviews though, host Chelsea Handler decided to veer off course, dig deep and get a little personal.
During the brief interview, Adam was asked about his relationship with hottie boyfriend, Sauli Koskinen and he gladly replied. “We’re super happy. I met him when I was out there [in Finland] doing a concert and…he’s great. We’re very happy,” Adam said. “I’ve always been the single guy so I’m just like ‘Yes! I got a boyfriend!’”
All this happiness has inspired Adam to write a few songs about the relationship. He says some of the songs are “real sexy, crazy” while others are “romantic.”
Adam also talked about working with Pharrell Williams on his new album, his juice cleanse and his upcoming concerts with Queen. ”Trespassing” arrives in stores next week. Watch the short but cute interview below above.
POP JUSTICE Adam Lambert is not just for The Gays Noted homosexual Adam Lambert doesn’t just want his music to appeal to The Gays. www.popjustice.com/thenews/adam-lambert-is-not-just-for-the-gays/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=adam-lambert-is-not-just-for-the-gays&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Lambo insists no matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, he’s got a right track for you on ‘Trespassing’. He told Chelsea Lately: “Yeah, I’m the gay guy that was on American Idol but I’m also the human guy that sings.”
“I write from my experience, I write from a first person perspective,” he explained. “But I’m trying to write music that anyone can relate to.”
If you are a heterosexual man who wasn’t sure about adding ‘Trespassing’ to your record collection, you can do so without fear of ridicule on May 15.

C= Chelsea A= Adam
C: My next guest sold over 2 million copies of his debut CD and was nominate for a Grammy and his follow up CD, "Trespassing" is in stores now - next week! Please welcome Adam Lambert!
C: You look very different from the last time I saw you! Your hair is different!
A: Your hair's different too
C: I knew you were gonna say that
A: You look great
C: Thank you
A: Yeah, you look beachy and tousled
C: I do?
A: Yeah! That's my hair dresser and I were back stage watching, she looks so tousled and beachy
C: beachy, yeah that's just cause my makeup and hair person's f*cking lazy So I was reading up on you and I found out that you are indeed gay
A: Yes! Yes!
C: How's that working out for you?
A: Things are great!
C: You have a boyfriend in Finland?
A: No, he's from Finland, but he lives here in LA.
C: Oh, why doesn't he want to go back there?
A: Cause he's living with me!
C: He's like a big celebrity in Finland?
A: Yeah! We're super happy! I met him when I was out there doing a concert and he's great, we're very happy! And I've always been the single guy, so I'm just like 'YES! I got a boyfriend!' Ya know?
C: Well you were single cause you were kind of in the closet, weren't you though?
A: I wasn't in the closet after the age of 18, no.
C: Oh, just the public amount of American Idol
A: No, I was out of the closet the whole time, whole time. No one ever said to me, Ryan Seacrest didn't go 'You gay?' If he has asked-
C: Ryan Seacrest has no business asking anybody if they're gay. Ryan.... Now let me ask you this, because as a gay man, I mean you are, you're a big pop star now and everybody knows who you are, and you kind of are like the only huge pop star that's out, correct?
A: Kinda, sorta, I guess...
C: I mean not talking about like, Elton John or something, I'm talking about...
A: Yeah, from like the beginning of everything, yeah
C: So when you do music videos now, do you think about putting men in the music videos with you as your love interest instead of..
A: If I had a video with a love interest, then yeah we would cross that bridge, but lately what we've been trying to do is take a song that may be a little more straight forward, maybe it's a love song, and then we kinda put a twist on it. I think it's a more interesting challenge, ya know?
C: You put a twist on it, do you spin it around, turn it on its side?
A: Yeah, yeah turn around the interpretation of the lyrics
C: You turn it over, okay
A: I like giving different meanings to lyrics. So if it's something that's like an obvious 'I love you, you're hot, let's party, let's go home together' Yeah okay, that could be the music video, but that's not very challenging for me as an artist.
C: Do you write songs about your boyfriend?
A: Yes, I did write a couple about my boyfriend, yeah
C: That's sweet
A: Yeah, some are like real sexy crazy and some are like romantic
C: Like sexy crazy like what? Like I'm gonna rape you?
A: We're pretty vanilla. There's no rape. And I tried to write songs- my whole thing is like I write from my experiences, I write like from a first person perspective but I'm trying to write music that anybody could relate to. And so yeah I'm the gay guy that was on American Idol but I'm also the human guy that sings. Like, if you're into like going out with your friends and partying and wanting to meet somebody and fall in love and have a good time, I think that's something we all relate to right?
C: Well yeah, music should be that and be relatable to anybody. You're absolutely right because everybody hears a song and they relate it to themselves, whether you're gay, straight, Chewy, anything. What was it like working with Pharrell? I love him!
A: He's amazing.
C: How did you guys hook up?
A: The studio, like the label, they were like 'Do you wanna go in the studio in Miami and work with him' and I said "yeah!" And I didn't feel cool enough, I was really worried, I was like 'I don't what to do, I don't know what to say' But I walked in and I was like 'Hey man, what's up' Ya know? And he was just so down to earth, and I actually saw the interview you did with him.
C: Yeah, he's cute.
A: He's cool! He's so cool!
C: I could write a song about him.
A: He's cool, and we just started talking about life and the music business and just life in general and being discriminated against, or oppressed- certain things that we kind of could see eye to eye on.
C: Do you feel like you've been discriminated against?
A: Here and there. But actually my path has been pretty cool. I haven't had that many issues - there's been little hiccups
C: Cause now it's just like cool to be gay, I think.
A: Is it? I'm so glad!
C: I think so, it should be. I mean it is cool because it's cool to be gay... I've been thinking a lot about it... You're going on the road this summer, you're gonna be performing with Queen right?
A: Yeah!!
C: Where are you doing those shows?
A: They're all in Europe so there's like 2 in London and 2 in Eastern Europe - one in Poland and one in Kiev.
C: Oh, good luck with those.
A: And one of those is with Elton John!
C: Wow, that's cool!
A: So it's gonna like the gayest show ever!!
C: He's THE queen, The queen of all queens!
A: And I just met him recently for the first time at his Oscar gala that he hosts. And he was like just so funny- he's got like a dirty humor. He's just like normal. Just a normal guy.
C: Did he know who you were?
A: Yeah he invited me to sit at his table, it was lovely and I brought my boyfriend and...
C: That's cool
A: saw some other friends at the table and we had a great time!
C: That's fun
A: Yeah, it was really cool
C: He's like 'good, you take the torch, girl' Now I heard you were doing that juice cleanse that I was doing.
A: Which one are you doing?
C: I was doing the pressed juices
A: Yes
C: Is that the one you did?
A: And I ended up buying a juicer!!!!
C: But do you do it like 3-4 days a week? How do you keep any weight on?
A: I don't have a hard time keeping weight on. When I did the actual cleanse, I first went to one of the juice places here in LA and they make it all for you... And then I realized how expensive it was and I thought, maybe I should just buy a juicer! So now I do it myself.
C: So how often do you do it, though? When you say 3-4 days, would you do it all day?
A: Well if I'm doing an actual cleanse, then I commit a certain amount of time to it. Ya know? but otherwise, just having a juice everyday with your breakfast or whatever is cool.
C: Oh really?
A: Yeah! Vitamins!
C: Oh! I didn't know about that part! I'm just amazed by anybody who could just sustain a diet because obviously I have no success in doing it so... these juicing questions are just for me and not the audience- sorry you had to listen to that! So the CD's called "Trespassing" and it's available May 15th! Thank you for being here Adam!
A: Thank you for having me
