It feels like Adam used his whole vocal range in Runnin, from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs... I have no idea, of course, but it sounds like that to a layman. I wonder if he's as delirious as we are right now. I am worried we will never hear it live, like CLYG :( that's my thoughts as well, how an earth is he ever going to sing that live, evening after evening ......

An occasional live performance of it would do.

I believe we are heading to a 100 page day. Finally got the downloads and am listening. Dancing, crying, happy, sad, swirling emotions, not sure what to do next. Am hiding out in computer room from company so can listen. My computer is giving me a lot of s**t so finally called the tech guy who is coming at 2:00. Maybe I can finally be on line and bert out without having to stop to restart or fix issues. Just can't take it any more. If this doesn't work - Apple, here I come.

I'm too overwhelmed with feeeelings to write anything coherent about the album just yet, But can I say that Seoulmate's song by song gif spam made my day. That was priceless. What a brilliant day here at Atop. I'm so overwhelmed by all the love for this album and Adam. The generosity of sharing with all and the new posters stories. About the VV article. I love that someone is putting what Adam is doing in historical perspective. Cassie's right, it's not a review, it not about the music, those are coming. And I agree about staying clear of making negative judgements on gay sites regarding Adam. It doesn't help him. But why not run with it? The writer is trying to get non fans to buy the album to give a little symbolic FU to the years of struggling gay musicians and crack a milestone that's long overdo. They want to start a viral campaign to get people to buy the album? Why not help and spread the link around to facebook if you have liberal friends, tweet it to people who are interested in gay rights. If it worked the end result would be more people hearing the awesome music. And selfishly I would love for Adam to be the one to break that particular barrier and I bet Adam would too.?Absolutely agree; let's get this thing viral. Great post.

70 pages?!?!?!?!?! I see people talking a lot about Underneath and that song kills me for sure, but there is something about Runnin that just grabs me by the heart. I'm a total lover of angst so you can imagine my feelings at the dark, angsty beginning and the driving, tribal, ominous beat. Like something out of a dark Western. And those first lyrics: "Steel to my trembling lips. How did the night ever get like this? One shot and..." ... as you listen you can imagine this song going to the darkest place possible. A man at the end and at the edge. With purposefully enigmatic lyrics that lead you to think he might be about to destroy himself violently. Or at least, listening further, destroying himself one drop at a time. Instead, we get a cry of desperate desire to emerge into whatever is beyond the darkness. And even though the singer is at the absolute bottom, Adam makes you believe that he can emerge. He's talking himself out of the dark and into the light. The drumbeat of doom turns into a rhythm of defiance and you can literally see Adam running away from the past and into a better future. It totally takes my breath away and blows my mind like no other song on this album. Only Adam can take a ballad of self-destruction and give it an arc that ends it in a place of empowerment. OMG I worship this album!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn, I never post (but read obsessively) but I have to comment on this. I am just amazed at this song....almost thought about maybe the beginning could be about addiction and hitting a bottom and then breaking through to the light again. The beginning of the song is almost scary in its dark and foreboding tone....and then Adam reaches a point that feels like a breakthrough. Ah, hell you said it so much better! And then I click back to the shallow end with Shady....I just love this album and Adam!

I understand that you are trying to help and want to help. The thing you have to understand is that sometimes that help can come over as extremely patronizing to an attacked minority even though you don't mean it to be. In terms of Adam being spoken about as a gay artist, it is very different when it is a mainstream publication such as, say, EW talking about his sexuality over his music and making a big deal out of it. Then by all means point out that it should be all about the music instead of banging on about his sexuality all the time. However when it is a gay publication, or one such as the VV with such a large gay readership, then the connotation of him being spoken about as a gay artist changes entirely. Telling a writer and the readership of any gay or gay friendly publication that him being gay does not matter is tactless and hurtful because in this circumstance and to the gay community it does matter that he is gay. As someone said above, showing support for and being an ally of an attacked minority is a wonderful thing and working alongside the community for equality and setting straight those that spew hate is very much appreciated and the right thing to do. But that is where it should stop to be honest. To put it simply, gay people do not appreciate being told by straight people how they should feel regarding things that involve our community any more than most women appreciate being told how to feel by men about issues pertinent to women. If you are in doubt at all then either don't comment on an article or just say how much you like the music and leave it at that. First things first - never assume that someone doesn't know what it is to be a minority. I know what it's like - been there, done that, still bleeding. I know every issue you are talking about from first hand - my own. And I learned that when you don't want to be a minority, want to be equal you must open that minority and be equal every step of the way. You can't be exclusive and then inclusive and then again exclusive as a community. It's not ivory tower, IMO you need to say to people "Come on, see it, touch it, feel it, understand it". It hurts and it's hard, and people are ignorant and do stupid things and say stupid things. But this is the way people are. Maybe my experience is differnet than yours but IMHO this is not good to say to people, when they think that beeing gay should not matter (and they are right about it), that it's matter and then again it's not. It's confusing people and deters them. It's like labyrinth and they don't have a map, unfortunately. I'm not patronizing you or anyone, but I can't agree with you, not in everything. It's only my opinion and my experience.

As hard as the waiting has been for the album, I'm kind of glad we got it in bits and pieces. Starting all the way back to last summer with Outlaws of Love, there's been time to savor each bit of lyric or melody that Adam let slip through his fingers (on purpose, no doubt.) I personally believe that my head might have exploded had I heard this whole thing in one sitting. I wouldn't have been able to process everything if I hadn't heard parts of most of the songs. As it is, it feels like it will take months of listening to collect every nuance sung and determine what it means to each person. And we still have two more (maybe three? Japan?) from the UK version! crispyDo you mean that YOUR head is still in one piece? I have no idea where the fragments of mine are. I cannot produce any coherent comment of the music. Just have a feeling of being immersed in an unknown sea, so salty I can float, on my back, foreign smokey red sky above. That's how i feel now
