If someone has a chance, would it be possible to please PM me the link? I have the vinyl box set on order, but am having a particularly rough time of it at work right now. I absolutely know Trespassing tracks will lift my mood. SENT gelly14, fallenangel, and wal: Thank you all so much for sending the link. I've got my headphones on and am ready to give it a listen. This could not have come at a better time for me. You guys are the best!

This was discussed earlier in this thread but I heart this article so damn much I would love love love to see what he talks about. A grassroots campaign (ala movie Bridesmaids) for Trespassing. There are lots of reasons a #1 spot for the album would be great and yep including all the ones the article talks about.

Thank you all for the warm wellcome! :D Welcome!!!! Thanks for introducing yourself! I LOVE hearing from people who are new to Adam because it is like seeing the awe in the faces of people who just wandered into something amazing. I think the EMA's opened a lot of people's eyes. So glad you took the time to find him and know him! That's so true! I was trully in awe listening to that performance. And I'm glad I found Adam too. In addition, my husband and my daughter love Adam as well. They are not at home just now, but I'm sure they will love the new album. :D Ehm, I can't decide whether I love more Underneath or Runnin :-/ Those dilemmas I understand you. These two songs are both very special for me. Underneath is outstanding. But Runnin - I found it so different from the other songs, like I would hear a new Adam in it - and I love it! :D

I understand that you are trying to help and want to help. The thing you have to understand is that sometimes that help can come over as extremely patronizing to an attacked minority even though you don't mean it to be. In terms of Adam being spoken about as a gay artist, it is very different when it is a mainstream publication such as, say, EW talking about his sexuality over his music and making a big deal out of it. Then by all means point out that it should be all about the music instead of banging on about his sexuality all the time. However when it is a gay publication, or one such as the VV with such a large gay readership, then the connotation of him being spoken about as a gay artist changes entirely. Telling a writer and the readership of any gay or gay friendly publication that him being gay does not matter is tactless and hurtful because in this circumstance and to the gay community it does matter that he is gay. As someone said above, showing support for and being an ally of an attacked minority is a wonderful thing and working alongside the community for equality and setting straight those that spew hate is very much appreciated and the right thing to do. But that is where it should stop to be honest. To put it simply, gay people do not appreciate being told by straight people how they should feel regarding things that involve our community any more than most women appreciate being told how to feel by men about issues pertinent to women. If you are in doubt at all then either don't comment on an article or just say how much you like the music and leave it at that. First things first - never assume that someone doesn't know what it is to be a minority. I know what it's like - been there, done that, still bleeding. I know every issue you are talking about from first hand - my own. And I learned that when you don't want to be a minority, want to be equal you must open that minority and be equal every step of the way. You can't be exclusive and then inclusive and then again exclusive as a community. It's not ivory tower, IMO you need to say to people "Come on, see it, touch it, feel it, understand it". It hurts and it's hard, and people are ignorant and do stupid things and say stupid things. But this is the way people are. Maybe my experience is differnet than yours but IMHO this is not good to say to people, when they think that beeing gay should not matter (and they are right about it), that it's matter and then again it's not. It's confusing people and deters them. It's like labyrinth and they don't have a map, unfortunately. I'm not patronizing you or anyone, but I can't agree with you, not in everything. It's only my opinion and my experience. I think this is very well said, nonchallance. It is tricky. You see the problem in movies when they're trying to depict minorities. If the minority character has flaws, some in the community will complain that the movie is trying to say that all members of that minority have that particular flaw. So the movies respond by making the minority character practically perfect (as with Sidney Poitier's character in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner), and some in the community wonder why they can't be portrayed as three-dimensional people. Even members of a minority themselves don't agree on the right way to achieve their aims or even what their aims should be. For every person who believes that the ultimate goal should be to blend into the rest of society, there is another who believes that attitude is offensive. As I said, it's tricky, and we're all stumbling through this together as best we can.
