Who the heck is calling Trespassing a light album when Underneath is one of the most poignant songs ever recorded. WHO. The writer from the Village voice called the album frothy and fun. I know. I was being rhetorical.

I fell asleep yesterday page 26, had some things to do today even though I saw the page eruption. Now I have spent three hours on my computer reading your lovely flails. I've been trying to stay calm because I do not want to download anything. Now I came across a post saying that there is a link to listen! I would be so happy to get that one!!!
ETA Got it, ty, ty, ty!!!

cassie I was not sure if that was Adam opening on Runnin just wow. I know what you mean. This is just my silly little theory, but.... People keep referring to Take One because it shows Adam's lower register that we haven't heard much of on his legitimate work. Do you think maybe said, "You want low register? Don't bother with that drek. Here you go. This is ME as a baritone (and a tenor, and a soprano)." I don't know if Adam intentionally meant to show the world the versatility and diversity of his voice, but, intentional or not, it is obvious on this album. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is just one of many points Adam is making with this album.

All that guy from The Village Voice would have had to do is to include a few words about how fantastic the album is; that the album is deserving of reaching number one regardless of the fact that Adam's gay. I can't believe he wrote that long article/blog and included only ONE sentence about the album itself.
In any event, The Village Voice has been around for years and is quite respected. It is good that Adam has their support.

With all due respect, I don't think that people who write comments like "Why does it matter if he's gay?" want to isnsult anyone. They want to make a point (maybe not eloquently enough) that it's music what should matters here. Those kind of comments are equivalent of "Why does it matter if Madonna is straight?" But it doesn't matter that she is straight and nobody asks about it, but it does matter that he is gay? Funny thing is that we all want to live in world without those labels gay/straight but all we do every day is to make them stronger. But that's tbe whole point. It DOES matter that he is gay. I agree with Q3 tho that it would have been nice if they realized that this album is not Frothy Pop and essentially is VERY political! IMHO the album is life.. fun, dancy, sensual sexy, deep ,gut wrenching, political, but then everything is political, layers and layers of a soul, peeling each layer away until there is raw pain. As Q3 said Adam's search for acceptance..
