I need some super bionic ninja ears. On Runnin, at about 1:20, when he sings "The higher, the lower, the down, down, down." I THINK I hear an echo of the melody line an octave lower. Do you hear it? And if it is really there, is it Adam? Is it Adam's voice manipulated down the octave? Or, WTF, does he really sing a Frickin' D2??? Kanadie? Holst? nationalglampoon? Anybody? (For non-music geeks, that would be one of the lowest notes a BASS voice sings! And make his recorded range something just two tones short of four octaves. WTF?) Cassie- I was going to mention that also...(I did not as you people have much better ears than I do). It sounds to me as if it is autotuned or something like that... some "enhancement"... Do I think Adam can hit a D2? -- maybe. Remember Rob Cavallo said Adam could sing every note on the guitar -- that would be 4 octaves -- usually E2 to E6 -- on an electric lead guitar. But that line sound modified to me and I do not believe there is any way to figure out if he sang this note or they created it.

I understand that you are trying to help and want to help. The thing you have to understand is that sometimes that help can come over as extremely patronizing to an attacked minority even though you don't mean it to be. In terms of Adam being spoken about as a gay artist, it is very different when it is a mainstream publication such as, say, EW talking about his sexuality over his music and making a big deal out of it. Then by all means point out that it should be all about the music instead of banging on about his sexuality all the time. However when it is a gay publication, or one such as the VV with such a large gay readership, then the connotation of him being spoken about as a gay artist changes entirely. Telling a writer and the readership of any gay or gay friendly publication that him being gay does not matter is tactless and hurtful because in this circumstance and to the gay community it does matter that he is gay. As someone said above, showing support for and being an ally of an attacked minority is a wonderful thing and working alongside the community for equality and setting straight those that spew hate is very much appreciated and the right thing to do. But that is where it should stop to be honest. To put it simply, gay people do not appreciate being told by straight people how they should feel regarding things that involve our community any more than most women appreciate being told how to feel by men about issues pertinent to women. If you are in doubt at all then either don't comment on an article or just say how much you like the music and leave it at that. Fightthesleep - I really, really hope you will hang around and keep posting. I can offer chocolate if that sweetens the deal

Cassie, why does Underneath causes my heart to feel so wretched, so much pain? Kagmel, like me, you are probably feeling the pain of a community that has been discriminated against by their country, its people and their religion for years. My heart is so heavy when I think of what has been done and said to our LGBT community. No one seems to notice that these are our children, our mothers and fathers, our sisters and brothers, our aunts and uncles, our grandchildren. It is an abomination, and it needs to change. I will never get over Adam singing "Underneath" ever. He is singing not only his truth but for all his gay brothers and sisters because he knows how to express that pain with his words, emotion and music.

After first listen there is only silence. Silence where the sounds twirl in my head and I am deaf and dumb. Such a powerful experience! I need some time to digest all this before listening it again. I feel like I have written these words before, maybe after listening the longer snippets? It is my reaction to something that moves me emotionally. After an enjoyable concert (or f.ex. a movie like Piano) there is a peace and awe in my mind, a pause sorting it all out - just like now. Do continue to flail by all means. I am just not that kind of a person but rest assured I do share it all (even when I am not participating as enthusiastically as you). Just WOW!

Ok, first thing first - some people warned us the snippets did not really reflect the quality of the final work. SO TRUE! I listened to the snippets a few hours ago and thought they were amazing... NOT EVEN CLOSE to the Real Thing! They managed to cut all the amazing vocal parts from every snippet, and listening to the whole album is one kick after the other! Now, while I despise JLo, on to my goosies-meter: Got first goosebumps on Underneath and then on Running. Of course, my ass moved automagically on pretty much the whole first half of the album, as intended by Mr. Executive Producer. If I may nitpick, I did not think Nirvana needed that kind of percussion. I expected a more "Broken Open"-like treatment. 4 out of 5 for me. I can live with the drums on OOL, but I still prefer the various live versions. I did not like Kickin In the first time I heard the snippet, although I realize it is a vocal masterpiece with a rare AFL falsetto. But it is growing on me now. LOVE Cuckoo, Shady, Naked Love, Pop That Lock, Broken English, Underneath, Chokehold, Running: 5/5. Trespassing, OOL: 4.5/5. Kickin In, Take Back, Nirvana: 4/5. One of the best albums I have ever heard, and I love the variety of styles. For reference, my all-time favorite albums where I don't skip a single song: ELO "Time", Helloween "Keeper of the 7 Keys Part 2", Gamma Ray "Land Of The Free", A-Ha "Foot Of The Mountain". On FYE, I used to skip the title song and Aftermath (until I fell in love with the GNT acoustic version and learned to like the original). No skipping this Era! LOL "automagically". New glamword. And I agree, "No skipping this Era!" (Now if I could just catch up)

I am SO thankful I'm on a one week break right now! I can't concentrate enough to even go about normal house chores let alone actually be productive And it's Adam's fault if I lose weight this week, I keep dancing even when I'm sitting down! This album is KILLER!!

If someone has a chance, would it be possible to please PM me the link?
I have the vinyl box set on order, but am having a particularly rough time of it at work right now. I absolutely know Trespassing tracks will lift my mood.

How is it that some of you are actually able to articulate arguments about social issues right now? My mind is in heavenly, mushy, bliss right now, completely unable to care about anything but my own deep satisfaction right now. I am content. No matter what goes down, his glory is on record for the world to discover when they are ready. Lol! might go for a wander in your mind. Trespass all you'd like, it's a happy place right now! I think my new surprise favorites right now are Pop that Lock and Runnin. I like Take Back because it is seems so different to hear Adam angsty, and it's straight forward--so it's different than the rest. Can't you just hear him smile in Naked Love. This belongs on the radio. I am afraid to go back to Underneath. Adam was smart not to put this one first. It takes some time to get to the cathartic Nirvana.
