I agree. The album is going to get good reviews and glamberts worldwide will have to be careful not to jump all over reviewers who don't like the album or who refer to his sexual orientation (especially in this case when publication is for LGBT). Yes reviews are about the music but they are also about the artist who makes the music. You can refer to his seksual orientation with respect and thoughtfully and you can do it like EW. I think fans know by now when not to go all crazy. Except that is clearly not true in all cases, nonchalance. You just have to look at the comments on that review to see two people who have yet again missed the point and jumped straight to "stop talking about the gay" when it is an glbt publication. This is exactly what I was trying to say the other day. What EW did yesterday? That is exactly when fans of all orientations should voice their displeasure regarding the focus on his sexuality. It was offensive homophobia dressed up as humor and it should not be allowed to stand unchallenged. A glbt publication referring to his sexuality is a matter of pride and relevant discussion. It is important to the gay community to have a visible role model such as Adam, not just in our fight for equality but also as someone to look up to for young people in our community. Many of us did not have role models such as Adam when we were growing up and it is important to us that our younger generations do. You only have to look at the messages Adam gets on twitter from young gay fans saying how much he has inspired them to be themselves and helped them to deal with the hatred thrown their way. To tell a gay publication to stop focusing on the fact that he is gay is the equivalent of telling us that the important role entertainers like him play in our community is not important at all. Here's a good way to judge it. When you are reading an article, take a moment to google the publication and find out their audience. If it is a gay publication or one with a large gay readership then please do not tell them to not talk about him being gay. Bottom line is straight people need to stop going to glbt sites and telling them how they should feel about Adam because it is not your community nor is it your place to do so. It is the equivalent of a man going into a site like iVillage or mumsnet and telling the women there how they should feel about issues involving women. The women there would quite rightly take offense to that and the gay readership of glbt publications quite rightly take offense to comments such as those from UKGlambert and Sheri on that article.
