Carrie is still going strong at #1 this week with 118K sold and Adele at #2 with 108K. Hopefully Adam maintains his sales the remainder of this week.
If Adam has #1 album next week, that will be 3 weeks in a row for Idol alumni to be Billboard #1 album in the country. Contrary to what radio thinks, Idol is still relevant and people still want to hear them.

Eh, i don't see anything to freak out over at this point. Focus is on album sale this week, (yippee number 1!). Hoppers I've tried to read every interview and haven't seen or heard that 'shocked' quote anywhere, I'd be interested if anyone has the link. Wilkes Barre is the only station that has cut back airplay in a more noticeable way, just have to see if that's just leveling out with the others or a sign that they are disinterested. The focus will swing back to the single during ads week and Adam's radio concerts, that and immediately after that is the make or break time IMO, not now. ETA: oh, and I do think that they chose the right single this time, and I'm not gonna assume radio PD's weren't paying attention and didn't listen when they chose, though who knows what actual 'promises to play' they were able to give. ITA. Everyone breathe! lol Logic here tells me that IF RCA has some big CHR stations on board, they want them to add the week of Impact. IF RCA is indeed communicating with these stations, do you not think this is the date they would be hinting STRONGLY for? Also, the age factor as a problem doesn't hold up. Not for males on CHR or HAC. There are many, many males in the 30 and over category who are getting regular airplay for their singles on both of these formats.

After reading the Billboard interview I feel at peace about Adam's career. RCA seems to have a plan for Adam and willingness to stick with him. I am sure they are doing what it takes behind the scenes of radio. He wouldn't be doing all this radio promo for nothing!

Adam is apparently doing another concert in OC on July 19. The fact that he's doing all these concerts tells me radio is interested in him. Why would they want him otherwise? (sort of trying to convince myself). And I agree they picked a good single this time. Nothing wrong with NCOE - perfect for Top 40 IMO.

I know the interview HSM is referring to, but can't remember where. It is a print interview. I remember it too but have no idea where to find it... I think it went something like this: Interviewer "Were you and the label freaked when BTIKM didn't take off?" Adam: "freaked is not the word!!" I interpreted that as "hell ya we were freaked, more than freaked!" But maybe I'm wrong. ....anyhoo. Radio is a pain in the ass and we're certainly getting insight into the Politics. The label MUST be working on this behind the scenes - they're certainly vocal in saying they plan on pushing this album HARD. Adam's doing so much radio promo, it's GOT to pay off at some point. *crosses fingers*

No I read that as Adam saying that they WEREN'T freaked, it wasn't the right word he would use to describe it, just disappointed a bit, because he goes on to explain. Of course I need to find it to double check....

I remember the interview, too - just not which one it was!
What I took away from it was that Adam took the opportunity to express HIS support for BTIKM, that he liked it, and then he talked about it being hard to know what is/isn't going to hit big on radio.
(I don't think Adam would ever say he or the label was "freaked" - for one thing, it would sound . . . presumptous? And, again, radio didn't "pick" NCOE - Adam said, I believe, it's the song radio seemed most interested in.)

His first words were: " he needs better song writers... " and "the moment he started singing something interesting they cut to commercial" ... I of course made a speech re my own disdain for the singles and the admiration for the rest of the album.. anyway, it probably has nothing to do with the radio play, but I am convinced that NCOE is NOT doing the album any favors as it totally misrepresents it. .... Adam needs to do as many mini concerts as possible at as many places as possible... the good thing - this is obviously in the works. ( and I KNOW MORE THAN RCA ABOUT THIS STUFF )The #1 on iTunes for the whole day is great! However, I was astonished to see that Carrie came out with only 118K after all the hoopla and top iTunes for several days (am I correct?) and her "queen" status... and being country... so I am really concerned about the opening week despite all the jubilation of today...but trying to stay cool, calm and collected.
