Has Billboard speculated at all yet about Adam's opening numbers? Didn't they write-up some kind of early prediction for FYE?

Some of those quotes from RCA execs lead me to believe that they are hoping to build the album to number 1 rather than expecting it to open there. There was one who mentioned promotion would last in to 2013. Maybe they didn't really expect big things from the first singles just that they opened the door to radio. You know the soften them up with the inoffensive tracks first strategy. I am curious to see how the individual tracks sell once the album drops as that may be how they choose the next single. Maybe they will see if a particular track catches on in sales.

Isn't it very difficult to build an album up to #1? I mean, unless you're Adele with a smash on 3 formats.

Glee, Carrie and Adele are much stronger on the iTune charts than Adam....MUCH STRONGER. Are we hoping for more physical copies being sold?
How much do digital sales play in opening numbers....Tenacious D is even higher Number 1 Album at present. Wow!

I think Adam will sell more physical than DLs.

Isn't across board all albums get a bump because of Mother's day weekend? I'm betting on Carrie and Adele seeing big drop next week. People meant to buy are likely to have bought last week, right? Do I make any sense here? Yes, you do! Mother's day is big for artists that appeal to women, such as Carrie or Adele. The week of Valentines Day, sales were way up for CDs and then they dropped significantly the next week. I expect that Carrie will have a drop off this week (May 15th) and Adele will drop down also. Keep in mind, Adele's lowest week was around 73K. Also, the Glee CD is #2 on iTunes right now. It will sell downloads and physical copies. I'm thinking that Adam has to sell 80K at least to have a shot at #1 over Glee, Carrie and Adele.

There is one version of the Glee, Adele, and Carrie's album charting on itunes, there are two versions of Adam's album, each charting separately but above top 50. Both of these versions will have their sales lumped together for Billboard right? But can we assume that if there was only one version Trespassing would be charting a little higher on itunes? But it makes sense to try to keep driving sales towards the deluxe version in part because keeping at least one version in the top 20 for visibility is good.

Trespassing (Deluxe edition) is #8 on US iTunes. Standard is #44 I guess it'll get higher during the day )))
