Love the 4 stars from People Magazine. But Kickin In as early George Michael? Well, to quote Wham, if you're gonna do it, do it right. Kickin In is an MJ homage from Pharrell and Adam. IMHO, specifically it's a "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" homage. Which is actually a Marvin Gay homage, specifically, to the only song that can get me to stop playing Trespassing album on repeat:"Got to Give it Up". I had to giggle at this, fifthhousesun, because I thinking WTF too abt all the George Michael refs for Kickin' In in reviews. I'm not getting that vibe at all! Even in the snippets, it sounded like if Prince and MJ had done a song together. Even the Dirty Mind, I thought, was an homage to the Prince album and song. Sounds like "Raspberry Beret" with "Kiss" falsetto. (I might be able to come up with something closer among Prince's repetoire, if the man had not scrubbed himself from YouTube. Strictly relying on memory. All these "early George Michael" refs make me think that the reviewers (a) weren't born yet--or too young to know this music, or (b) don't have a very good grasp of late 70s/early 80s music. I can also hear "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough." Prolly my fave MJ track of all time, being the oddball who preferred the Off the Wall album to Thriller. Yes, TOTALLY Prince/MJ homage. NOT George Michael. Junkets, you are totally right, "Kickin In" is a tip of the hat to Prince and MJ. I don't get the reviewer's reference to George Michael at all! Want to hear a Prince song similar to "Kickin In"? Head over to iTunes and check out "Controversy." One of my all-time Prince faves!

I'm starting to get butterflies about A1 tonight. I wish I wouldn't do that. Why can't I just sit down and enjoy his performances without worrying about something going wrong - or something. :-/

wow....I had no idea that Donna was sick. So sad! Disco was MY era and she was THE QUEEN!! *sighs* (wondering how her death will impact music sales....I know she wasn't Whitney, but she defined a genre. Think disco - think Donna. She was huge!) Her song' I Will Survive' kept me surviving after my divorce from my first husband. Didn't Gloria Gaynor sing I will Survive? I know that song well as a go to karaoke tune....

OT Hmm, "I will survive" was Gloria Gaynor? She had Never can say goodbye too - both representative of the disco in the 70's. Donna Summer was there too, but for some reason I can't remember any song of hers by name just like that like I do for those Gloria Gaynor songs. Was "Hot stuff" by Donna?

I got Deluxe here at home! Happyyyyy! If you ask me what's the best song in this CD, I can't tell you! This album is so great that every song has it's place here. They have their meanings and stories. The album is a story of reallnes of Adam Lambert. You have to take it all or nothing. So many gorgeus pictures of Adam lately! And people are drooling after him. I don't blame them. I do that too! Adam's style is perfect at this moment. He uses make up but still looks natural, so fresh, healthy. My thoughts in Sauli again. It must require so much from him. Think yourself: you are in love with a partner and people are so after him. Everywhere you go people are coveting your partner and in many ways wanting YOU to disappear away!!! No peaceful place anymore... I know I wouldn't last at all. Just me and my thoughts!
I think about Sauli all the time. He must love Adam very much to stay with someone who leaves for 1-2 weeks at a time. I know other people have to live like that, but it must be so hard. I just hope Sauli loves Adam enough to stay and see him through the beginning years of his career. It probably gets easier in a few years (once Adam is at the very top of his ladder), and they can really live a life together. The thing is it is going to get harder the more Adam tours. I think about Sauli all the time........and give him a lot of credit for his choices.

Quailing @quailing For those who are wondering if NPR can help sales: check out this great article in the Hollywood Reporter: is.gd/AfZxH2 \o/ "It’s true, and NPR moves more albums and downloads proportionately than the commercial big boys, yet labels spend millions trying to penetrate those markets. Call it “Yindie Rock,” as in yuppie indie rock, modern music for boomers with loads of disposable income."

Yes, "Hot Stuff," "Last Dance," and "She Works Hard for the Money" were probably the best-known Donna Summer songs.
