While it seems that Adam Lambert is on the verge of his first No. 1 album on the Billboard chart with Trespassing, a number of other acts are set to debut in the top 20 next week.
Industry sources suggest that Lambert's Trespassing could sell around 70,000 to 80,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, May 20. In a week without any other major new releases, and little competition, that may be enough to debut at No. 1 next week. Adele's 21 will likely be the runner-up, with between 60,000 to 70,000.
Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.
