That interview was wonderful. Adam sounds delicious on the radio. His speaking voice is so gentle and soothing. His accent sounds really beautiful and easy to understand to my ear, not having English as my native language. Is it the same to Americans as well? He sound beautiful and is easy to understand to me too. He speaks at an easy, relaxed pace. He is articulate and he articulates his words clearly. And he does not have a US regional accent. All round, I could listen to him all day. >> I would love to have his voice on my smartphone.

Someone asked in another thread why some people preferred the album version of Kickin In to the live version, and I wasn't able to put my finger on it until I watched this video. The driving bass line and punctuating cow bell (?) is what I like about the album version, and what's most prominent to my ears in the live version is the keyboard sound. I also prefer it without the improvisational wailing that he does towards the end. Kickin In is one of my favorite songs on the album, and the live version doesn't sound the same or better to me. :-/ A little late in the convo.. but for me its not just the singing, its also the production. I especially LOVE the beginning. Pharrell does a fabulous job with the song build up. It reminds me a painter painting a picture. I can almost see the state of the girl in the production of those first few second.. then Adam's voice kicks in and it makes the song.

IMO, that NPR interview was all win! It was short compared to what we wanted, but in keeping with the pace of items on the show. Long enough to give good info but short enough to hold interest of all the listeners.
I think many listeners to NPR may not be familiar with Adam, or only peripherally aware. Not enough to know his music or that he has a new album out that they might just enjoy. The three snippets they played showed his voice and his versatility: stomp rock, soaring pop, and gorgeous vocal ballad. Enough to intrigue music fans who may have dismissed Adam before.
Add to that, Adam was a great interview, as usual. He did his masterful code switching again, and matched the tone, the pacing, the style of the interviewer, voice sounding very rich and erudite. None of the bangin club kid this time. I wonder if Adam does this consciously, or it is something he just naturally cues into.
The NPR audience slants liberal, and listeners are likely to be in support of civil rights for LGBT people. They will totally "get" OOL, the sentiment, the voice, the mission. They will also understand Adam's point about being a singer, but being almost forced to discuss gay issues in every interview. I think they will respect him for his answers.
If they go to the website to find out more, they will see that striking, gorgeous head shot of Adam and be able to listen to all of NCOE and OOL. The combination is sure to produce sales, IMO.
I couldn't be more pleased.

"Q3 can't talk right now, but let me sing you a little song...." ;D
