Got brave and ventured over here.
Must say that I'm glad there is a light thread today. I needed that.
Sometimes I think negativity feeds on negativity and it gets to be too much and sours the day.
I think the persistant posted negativity did that yesterday. JMHO.
Just for fun (?) I did a speed-read through yesterday's 43 pages again. Basically the entire thread was promo flailing. In the first 35 pages I saw:
1) bridgey and nikki pissed off at an Oz dickwad DJ. (2 posts total, p.4)
2) Hoppers expressed sarcasm at Z100 (one post, p.5)
3) Four pages later, glittergma was pissed off at a DJ (?) called Kelly ( 1 post, p.9)
4) Around 10 pages later, there was a
brief back-and-forth about the older demographic tweeting radio stations... most of the posts were done with---> :
and peeps laughing about twitter names.
5) On p. 26, stampsgal made a thoughtful post that she'd wished Jian's interview hadn't focused so much on GAY GAY GAY. (I agreed with her)
6) There were a couple of comments about OH NOZ... Adam's wearing that old green shirt!!
In terms of anything even vaguely negative (and I use that term loosely),
that was it for the first 35 pages of the thread.
On p. 35, Rjacks made her comment about struggling. And, really, there was not a huge amount of negativity that ensued. There were several posts about "don't worry, bb... it's okay...," including a couple of fabulous posts by momtomany. A couple of peeps said, "I sometimes struggle, too." Melliemom was told not to use "we."
But interspersed amongst these so-called "negative posts", people carried on with the usual flailing.
I guess what strikes me about the whole issue of negative/positive, is that it seems to me it's often a matter of PERCEPTION.
There are times when I don't get to a thread until evening, and I speed read through 30+ pages, and towards the end someone comments about negativity and I'm like "HUH??" because I haven't seen anything particularly negative.
That's all. What some people perceive as negative, other people don't even see. Or, if they do see it, they nod, comment, and move on, and it's no big deal.
