I'd like to thank Adam not only for his incredible talent, style, and presence but for his dogged and consistent defense of his fanbase. During and right after idol the Glamberts were unfavorably compared to the Claymates ad nauseam. I don't think I ever heard anything positive about the Claymates from media. They were consider BSC and a severe detriment to Clay's career. Their reputation stunk to put it mildly. There were comparisons drawn between Claymates and Glamberts early on and interviewers in the beginning tried very hard to get Adam to denigrate his fans. Many celebrities tend to go along with the negative portrayal that the media likes to promote regarding BSC fans. Clay certainly didn't do anything of significance to defend his fanbase. Adam however never ever went along with this meme. He consistantly and determinedly defended his fans changing the interviewers characterization to passionate, loyal and loving and an important support of who he is as an artist. I noticed that it didn't take long at all for the most negative comments to subside and over time the fanbase portrayal in the media became more and more positive. I think the characterization of fans as older women took longer to subside than that of crazy people. In the last few months the media has more often than not used Adam's terms of passionate and loyal rather than crazy to describe the Glamberts but more importantly the tone of the comments have been that of awe and respect. We have become a big plus to Adam's career recognized as such by the media as well as being recognized as a force for good due to the charitable contributions that Adam has inspired. I truly don't think that shift would have happened had Adam not been so consistent in his defense of us. Very interesting and I agree. It really is the difference between how the two artists handled the portrayal. Clay to this day seems a bit snarky when talking about fans, almost exasperated by them. I'm sure BSC fans have embarrassed Adam but he knows they come with the territory and that the majority are what keep him in fancy shoes and a nice house. He is grateful I think since he knows how impossible it would have been for him if he hadn't had a very dedicated fan base. His age and experience coming into Idol gave him a perspective that Clay didn't have, I think. Adam hung on and trusted us and now the media perspective of his fans (and therefore him I think) has changed for the positive.

I think Adam will be on the main red carpet -- but maybe towards the end -- because I can't imagine he will miss his award time. This is work and that is a photo op. But I wonder if he will do the early red carpet or skip it. It's gonna be a long night for Adam -- the big parties do not start until 1:00AM. I was wondering about that as well since the early Red Carpet is only 30 minutes and he has a, um....tendency to run a little late.

[/img] Bio First African-American model on the cover of Vogue. Model Mogul. Oprah Legend. Hair Maven.
OT: Beverly Johnson is 52 or 57. Saw her on Oprah recently with a lot of the other older supermodels. She was a trailblazer too, being the first black model on Vogue. Oprah was, oddly, trying to get them all to tell her how it feels to be the most beautiful person in the room. Johnson was the only one who said she tried to be. Paulina Porizkova said that nothing was more bruised than an aging ego. And that on days when she feels whiny about being older, she remembers that aging is a privilege, not a right. Nancy Sinatra. Jackie Collins. Beverly Johnson. Sharon Osbourne. Barbara Walters. Isn't there anyone under age 50 who likes Adam in Hollywood?!
Hi Happycat! Lea Michelle, Sara Gilbert, Katy Perry and Amanda Peet are just a few that come to mind. I'm sure there are many others. It's all good. Those older ladies have a lot of cache.

Good morning! and good afternoon/evening to everyone in their respective time zones! I can't believe getting here at 10 am (EST) and seeing 10 pages already! I am on page 3 now, so I haven't seen too many pictures, but the ones I have 0 are just heartwarming! I am so happy to see Clive gave BB a Shout-out (especially after last night's idiotic E! coverage)... NoAngel - great Karma post. I have to say: from my observation of the RC interviews last night - I came away with the sick feeling of the "ugliness" of that world, where the main characteristic was self absorbtion and ego centric-ism... I am totally convinced that Adam is a huge exception, a really rare bird that radiates love and good will. ...and back to our "new house" matters: Q3 - can we please get rid of the Karma count? Also, would be nice to get rid of the stars under member's name. I asked yesterday to put this for a vote - no one replied but several people voiced the same sentiment. KARMA is now gone. It was really not consistent with this community's values.
Regarding the levels and stars -- I think a poll is a good idea. I have no strong opinion -- and will do whatever the majority of members want. But think that a Member is a Member and we should have no levels, no stars.
I will put up a poll NEXT SATURDAY.Edited by Q3. Q3 THANK YOU!!!!! You are wise!
