I think Janelle Monae borrowed Adam's tie from last year, and maybe his jacket too

In Tagalog, Gaga means stupid, so you never want to be called that. I guess the name fits . . . . OMG, srsly??!!

O.K so I'm back on page 5 (yes, I know : ) but I wanted to say: Most of the OTT things in music are camp done with a wink. Gaga is like an animated Museum piece. Even Adam commented on how she never breaks character on the red carpet. She is like an animatron. But for me there is nothing to connect to. I can admire the artistry of her costumes or the symbolism but I can't connect to her as an artist because she doesn't seem to allow anything real into the art. In all the interviews I have seen I don't feel as is I've ever seen anything beyond the persona she has chosen to portray. I have her album and I like the songs but they don't move me emotionally. The lyrics of Born This Way seem to almost have the same inspirational checklist feeling that make the Idol Coronation songs so bad but since the list itself is left of center it fools people. She's using all the right words but it didn't feel real the way Pink's "Fuckin' Perfect", Katy Perry's "Firework" or Adam's "Aftermath" do. She doesn't seem to have any existence outside of her art and that doesn't seem emotionally healthy to me which is one reason I'm not attracted to it. I agree with this post. I love Gaga's commentary on fame but there's a thin line between commenting on how ridiculous fame is and becoming ridiculous yourself. I think Gaga crossed that line. I like the egg as an artistic declaration, but not as a red carpet outfit. She does seem to really connect with fans on twitter but still as her persona. ETA:momtomany I love that but I don't think that'll happen. I have a feeling she'll emerge alienish. But then again I thought her single will be rock-pop and it was more disco

MDMOLINARI @katyperry we need to rethink your arrival on the red carpet! How do u feel about climbing in the ass of an elephant dress as a squirrel? LMAO - now that's funny! Love a good bit of sarcasm.

Has she done something specifically to Adam? Or is it that she has completely ignored him and has an ego? Gaga is part of the ridiculousness of Hollywood. She has taken that and magnified it. THAT IS her art statement. She magnifies tenfold the ridiculous side of fame. I think to get her is in part to get that. She IS utterly and totally outrageous. That is who she is. That is the point. If she's become grossly egocentric, that is a bummer for her. However, I think her ridiculous over the top behavior is once again a commentary on fame. No matter how dumb it is utterly entertaining. Just my thought on this -- If am artists wants to make strong statements -- in Gaga's case, using fashion art for political and conceptual statements -- the artist must be willing to accept criticism. I loved her frog dress, it was fun and whimsical. Understood the concept of the meat dress. But think the literalism of the egg and being Born and her new song is intellectually insulting to many of her fans. I keep hoping she will pull it back to the conceptual art that she did in 2008 before she became so famous.

De lurked to join in the general mayhem :-) Glad you joined in the fun...wish I had some glitter to throw on ya, but I'm a tech-fail! Skylar, i don't think Gaga's ever done anything bad to Adam at all. Just that some don't connect with her artistry. I really do like some of her songs a lot, but I DON'T think her new CD is gonna change my world, as she predicted...see, there was NO WINK when she said that. She (on a personal level) just leaves me cold. I love what Wes Strick said in that marvelous interview: Adam's theatricality and OT-ness comes from a place of authenticity, which makes it joyful (or something wonderful like that), which is why I stan the man! But Gaga's okay, and obviously MILLIONS of peeps stan her...so it's just toMAto/toMAHto!

Seems like Adam is going to have to walk the red carpet before his category comes up and then go back to accept his Grammy!!!!!!! Well, we can pray......

I agree. She is a performance artist. Her eccentricity and music go hand in hand. I may not like it enough to totally buy into it but I respect her utter fearlessness and go-for-broke attitude. I don't like Born This Way, though. This article that just came out in Vogue both highlights her inventiveness and dot-com tycoon like work ethic, and also points out why one might have a negative reaction to her persona (frankly, I'm pretty worried FOR her...) www.vogue.com/magazine/article/lady-gaga-our-lady-of-pop/
