Adam Lambert's Trespassing enters The Billboard 200 at #1, displacing Carrie Underwood's Blown Away. This marks the first time that artists who rose to fame on American Idol have had back-to-back #1 albums. Lambert was the runner-up on Season 8. Underwood was the winner on Season 4.

Lambert is the second Idol runner-up to land a #1 album, following Clay Aiken. One other Idol "loser" has topped the chart: Chris Daughtry, who finished fourth in Season 4.

Lambert's 2009 debut album For Your Entertainment debuted and peaked at #3. But it sold more than twice as many copies in its first week (198K) as Trespassing did this week (77K). Two factors explain the disparity. For Your Entertainment was released in November, when the holiday sales season is heating up. Also, Lambert's Idol fame was more immediate then.

The sales tally for Trespassing is the slimmest for a #1 album since Adele's 21 held the top spot with sales of just 76K in August. It's the lowest for an album debuting at #1 since Amos Lee's Mission Bell opened with anemic sales of just 40K in January 2011.

Trespassing sold 29K digital copies (included in the overall tally), which puts it at #1 on Top Digital Albums.

"Whataya Want From Me," the biggest hit from For Your Entertainment, cracked the top 10 in May 2010 and received a Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. It has sold 1,905,000 copies to date. The title track from the new album enters Hot Digital Songs at #178.

The pop star makes music history

Adam Lambert's album Trespassing debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart today and #1 on the Billboard Digital Albums Chart. It's Lambert's first #1 debut. And the first time an openly gay artist has reached this achievement.

We had inkling it was gonna be huge and included "Cuckoo" from the album in our 25 Songs of Summer.

As we wrote: "A bass-heavy electro banger from the American Idol’s sophomore effort -- with its 'gonna party till they take us away' chorus -- promises to be exactly what shirtless guys who pump their fists in the air will sound like this summer."

Yes, we congratulate Lambert, who was an Out100 honoree last year, on the historic accomplishment. And we think you'll be hearing a LOT of these songs at your favorite watering hole this year. Read more about Lambert here.

LGBT Power Poll Results: Who Topped the Reader List?

Who did you think the most powerful LGBT person in America is? You voted. We have the results.

This year, when we published Out's Sixth Annual Power List—which ranked 65 LGBT people according to their political, social, economic, and overall cultural influence—we also asked our readers to let us know who they thought deserved to be included. Well, as you might have predicted, it seems to prove that TV and celebrity (rather than politics or behind-the-scenes hard workers) matter most to people, and the poll turned into a bit of a popularity contest. And who topped the list? It was a write-in candidate, and he won by a landslide:

As one commenter wrote: "Adam Lambert has far more followers than just those who discovered him on Idol. He has a large international fanbase and took the gutsy road with his honesty when he became well-known. He is an advocate for human rights, not just gay issues. Not to mention the killer voice." Although Out honored him in the 2011 Out100, it seems that wasn't enough for those Lambertinis.

Although there were desenters. Another voter wrote: "You guys have ruined the 'validity' of the poll. I love Adam too, but come on."
Although it seems that was enough to get him to top of the list with close to 2,000 people writing in his name to declare him the "Moster Powerful LGBT Person in America".

Following in a close second place was Ellen DeGeneres with many people championing her, along with Rachel Maddow. As someone named Nina wrote: "Rachel Maddow is not only Brilliant, but her ability to shoot down every Republican argument with FACTS garners immense respect..and strikes fear in the opposition. A better role model there is not." Anderson Cooper was the most contentious in Out's poll, with many contending that a glass closeted person, no matter how influential, should never been recognized as having power. But he still made it on to the reader's poll at No. 4. And Neil Patrick Harris, rounded out the list, although Dan Savage and Barney Frank were nipping at his heels.

Then there were the people who wrote in who vociferously asked, "Where is Chi Chi LaRue?" Yes, where is he indeed?
