I loved the GNT spectacle. So theatrical. But, I think I may love this Era even more. Adam is a performer who doesn't need all the bells and whistles. He has grown so much. He commands the stage and the audience. He drives the music with his voice, his moves, his presence. He looks and sounds to be having so much fun, so much pure joy on stage that the audience cannot help but be swept along.
Vocally, he is soooo strong. He doesn't need to showy acrobatics on every song. Then, when he does let go with a wailing, high riff, it is more impressive. He soars. Someone asked whether the FYE or TRespassing repertoire was more difficult to sing. I would say FYE, altho' the energy needed to sustain the Trespassing drive is a different kind of difficult. But, I think these are songs that he not only can enjoy singing every night, but that also are a bit easier on the voice. The addition of the backing singers also allows him to take short breaks, and to play more with the melody and the improv. This set sounds more organic? More real.
Oh, Era #2 is gonna be sooooooo good. And, listening/watching tonight, I am imagining how Adam will command and fill the stage with Queen. I know I don't like when people compare Adam to Freddie, but, really, folks, could you see that same stage power and audience connection from Adam tonight? If the audience at the Queen concerts gives him half a chance, he will have them eating out of his hands.
Damn! He was perfect in Idol, perfecter for GNT, and what is better than perfecter? Trespassing live. How high can he raise that fuckin' bar???????
