yes! to your essay NoAngel!! "pop suits his personality and philosophy quite perfectly. He doesn't want to draw lines, he wants to draw us together. For the duration of a song you are united with everyone else who is listening, and maybe (shhhh, don't tell) we can break down some walls while we're at it." Wonderful, insightful essay No Angel.

NoAngel's great essay this morning reminded me of an article I read yesterday that Nile Rodgers wrote for The Sun. In the article he said: "For the first time in my life I saw people get together, from every ethnicity and nationality, to dance. Disco was multi-racial. Everyone — whatever their race or sexuality — felt equal for the first time. . . . The music makes you love the person next to you. Disco was a revolution and anybody could be part of the army. I come from a multi-racial community — my step-father was white. When I looked out from the stage it felt powerful. I think people went home after the gig and carried the mentality on. Even if disco changed just a few people then it’s a big deal. Music can unite people in a way religion can’t — people from different religions aren’t buried together. . . . Disco records were burned by fans given cheap entry to a baseball game. It was fraught with racism. But disco refused to die. It simply became house and dance music. Today I see the beginning of a brand new revolution. Dance is now the fastest-growing music. It’s happening again. House music is the same as disco — the boom, boom, boom beat — bringing people together just as it did in the Seventies. It’s the same song in a different key." I checked Nile's Twitter page to find the link again, and saw that he said, "So many eventful things happened this week-I did an article in The Sun re Donna & Robin bit.ly/JsIizb My blog will be on@adamlambert." So it seems maybe he has an upcoming blog about Adam. Also, speaking of people Adam's worked with who are writing, I saw the other day that Pharrell Williams has a book coming out in October, Pharrell: Places and Spaces I've Been. Here's the description on Amazon: "Redefining cool for a new generation, Pharrell Williams is a creative force, using music, fashion, and design to express his distinctive style. Originating at the crossroads of art, design, popular culture, and street savvy, Pharrell Williams’s output is unique. By playing off different disciplines—namely music, fashion, street art, and design—and using each as an element in the other, Pharrell has redefined the role of the contemporary recording artist, blazing a trail for other musicians and prominent cultural figures. Illustrated with lavish photography, this book also explores his musical career in depth, charting his many projects from his production team The Neptunes, to the band N.E.R.D., and his collaborations with friends Kanye West, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, and other hip-hop royalty. This unprecedented volume documents Pharrell’s prolific body of work and his contribution to contemporary culture. In his own unique graphic language, he details his extensive creative pursuits, including clothing lines, jewelry, and accessories designs for Louis Vuitton, furniture and other product design, limited-edition toys, graphic designs, skate graphics, and collaborations with Moncler, Marc Jacobs, the artist KAWS, and with architects Zaha Hadid and Masamichi Katayama/Wonderwall."

Aw, I loved this performance of Starlight! It brings back so many good memories. What a journey Adam has taken us on! So many good things from the past, so much goodness right now, and so many good things to look forward to in the future! As Adam said the other day, this is just the beginning. Thanks for the essay, NoAngel. Aloha beautiful follow up! Gelly, you found the pants, lol.. Did we ever doubt for a moment? You are amazing. Posts that make me think and posts that make me smile-and music that makes me do both! No wonder I miss Atop when RL is as busy as it has been lately! Love you all!
