My contribution to the Good Things That Happened For Adam This Month list: International recognition!
Trespassing debuted in the top ten in several international charts, and we've seen articles and videos about the success of the album from all parts of the world. It seems to me that sometimes people forget that album sales outside the U.S. matter too, and Adam is one of the few Idol graduates who sells all over the world. Carrie Underwood is a megastar in America, but her worldwide sales are just a fraction of what she sells here. Adam doubled the sales of FYE because the world loves him, and I have no doubt that this will be true of Trespassing as well.

Was talking to my older sister yesterday, a life-long musician who is contemplating retiring from performing after 43 years. We got all nostalgic thinking back to our college days with a group of highly talented musicians/performers. They all had a bit of a similar start to Adam, taking music lessons, singing in choirs, performing in high school/college musicals, forming bands and getting local gigs. Where are they now, we wondered. Did any of these talented kids "make it" professionally? Nope. Almost all are still making music for their own enjoyment; in church choirs and such. A majority ended up teaching music, from elementary school thru college. One is the head of the school drama department. My incredibly accomplished jazz and classical pianist sister has a day job teaching music to K-4 kids. Teaching kids to sing "My Little Peanut" and the like. It put Adam's career and accomplishments in a new perspective. Yes, Adam is extraordinary in every way. Still, I have known lots of talented artists over the years. NONE of them were able to make a good living performing, in any genre. The fact that Adam took his talent, honed it, perfected it, continued to grow, and dedicated himself to the point of obsession ----- and made it --- is an amazing feat. Adam has repeatedly said that his long term goals are to continue to be on stage performing for an audience, to continue to create music, and to have longevity and security. He is accomplishing his goals and then some. It is so incredible to watch and participate in that. Reminiscing on all my old friends who at one time hoped for/dreamed of the same things, but ended up living "ordinary" lives (tho' I am sure fulfilling and successful in other areas), I can be nothing but glowingly, warmly joyous for Adam. However his career progresses, he is living his dream.
Cassie, thanks for this fantastic post, which really helps to put Adam's success in a positive, yet pragmatic, light. You've reminded us that:
1. Star status isn't easily achieved, even by those with exceptional talent. 2. Adam has already achieved a large measure of what he dreamed for himself, against staggering odds. (To paraphrase Hunger Games, the odds have almost NEVER been in his favor, yet he's now an international star. I guess those NCOE video reviews that compare him to Katniss are on the mark!)
In addition to his looks, charisma, and attitude, Adam has the business intelligence, work ethic, drive, and determination to keep going, and rise even higher. He will get it done, and it's extraordinary how much he has accomplished so far.

Do you know if anyone managed to cap the Musique Plus interview? (not uStream) I would like to know that too as the ustream isn't working for me. But in my experience usually no answer just means that: NO.
