Lucy Glambert @trespassoonist JLS ARE ADAM LAMBERT FANS BTW :DI'm embarrassed to ask this but....who is JLS? :-[ tigerlily posted this a few pages back: I looked them up and they are a big deal in the UK. They are a boy band that came from the UK version of X Factor. JLS has had five number one singles in the UK and have sold over a million albums there. JLS is a pop/R & B/ Dance Pop group, so I imagine the place will be filled with young girls wanting to dance. Adam will probably do his current single and a couple of upbeat dance songs from TSP. This crowd isn't going to be a bunch of older people wanting to hear ballads. I can't see Adam using his 3 song slot to sing someone else's song- I doubt he will do a cover!

Just popping in to give what may not be a popular opinion, but knowing that Adam is respected and comfortable in the company of people like Brian, Roger, Elton, Nile is so much more impressive to me than a # 1 record on the radio. I don't need any lectures on the facts of his musical longevity life, etc, I'm just stating what I feel with all of my being. To me, being iconic isn't Bieber or Usher or Carrie, it is having a voice that knocks the socks off other musicians and having a rep for being a really good guy.
ITA. Like beauty, who is or is not an icon depends on the eye and perception of the beholder. To me, an iconic singer is one who changes the game, who has a voice you instantly recognize and that stands out from other performers. If you meet these criteria, you can be a big success without scoring the most radio spins or selling the most songs. The people who get the most airplay and sell the most records aren't always the ones you remember. Adam is unforgettable.

By looking at the line-up. Aren't these all reality tv contestants? Like Britain's got Talent and X-Factor? LMAO, that's actually the first thing I noticed, but I didn't want to say anything, haha. But all of these people seem to have big fan bases. So it really isn't a bad thing at all. So? ??? These are the people that rule Brit pop. And they all happen to have really good voices. Isn't Adam one of those people? Why the laugh? IDGI

Being respected by other great musicians is the most important thing. Only for me that directly means longevity. So that he can make music and perform, do his thing that he enjoys. Having a nr 1 hit would be a short term solution to be able to continue. Getting praise and support of fellow musicians, critics etc is a long term support for Adam in his own path - and IMO even more secure way to proceed in his career. Maybe not so massive-smash-way but a sure fire winner in the end.
