Hey guys! It's my 53rd birthday today and Wednesday is my 25th wedding anniversary. We're going to Captiva Island next week to celebrate. Anyway, anyone want to have a light-hearted fun? I used to play this game on another blog a long time ago. Name a topic and post songs about it. I'd go to the music recommendation thread, but no one goes there anymore. Please join me, or kick me out if I get annoying. Songs about the moon seems appropriate............. Cat Stevens - Moon Shadow Happy Birthday and have fun, Captiva Island is so beautiful

No opera plot can be sensible, for people do not sing when they are feeling sensible. -- W.H. Auden

The trouble with humans is that it's all or nothing with them. They seem to think that anything impossible could happen in the old days. And just because these are new days, they tell you none of it is true. — Diana Wynne Jones, DogsbodyOld map-makers used to mark the edges of known territory with fanciful drawings of sandy deserts, wild beasts, unapproachable bogs, icebergs, and frozen seas. Sometimes they just wrote in the notation, "Beyond here, there be dragons." I'm sure there were as many kinds of adventurers who used these maps in the old days as there are Glamberts today. Some were probably scared and worried about the edge of the map. Others probably felt disappointed that they never seemed to encounter any of the cool magical things depicted. As a call to adventure, "Here Be Dragons" sounds cool but is actually kind of a flop. It matters because ... let's face it, most of us don't have much adventure in our day-to-day lives. But I'm willing to bet a lot of us have thought of our Adam fandom as a journey or an adventure. I sure have. Even when I'm just sitting at my computer, I can check in every day to this grand multi-player multi-continent ongoing adventure game. This game has a gripping story -- I can never turn away because I want to know what happens next. I can spend hours exploring the amazing alternate universe of the game and all the great characters, from unicorns to goblins. And I, personally, can help solve the adventure's problems and overcome its dangers -- yes, little old juniemoon can help knock down doors, find treasure and magic words, and get past evil wizards. The thing about this game though ... is that that some of the puzzles are really, really hard. Some of the puzzles are torture. Some of the puzzles make you feel like a poor slob who can't keep up. Adam fans come in many different flavors. Me, I would rather spend time in the puzzle than solve it. After all, the audio and visuals on this game are fantastic and continuously changing, and there is so much to learn in the puzzle ... all about Adam's past experiences, present plans, and future hopes. And my own. I wonder I will ever solve some of the puzzles and get to the next level of the game. Good thing there are many people playing. Good thing immediate understanding is not necessary. Good thing you can just look at the beautiful sea when you don't know what else to do. What if the game is not about winning?

Enters Moon Garden ... Dark Adam is behind the bar as usual. Light Adam is working a crossword in a sunny corner. He waves. Dark Adam growls at me and starts making me a mondo chai latte. "Where is everybody?" I asked. The Night Lord shrugs. "Winter was here. She said to tell you hi." "Yay. Well, if she comes in again, tell her hi back." Dark Adam brings me my mondo chai and an ooey-gooey cinnamon roll. Good thing there are no calories in the Moon Garden. I sigh and let the steam warm my face. Finally I say, "Dark Ad, do you like funny stuff?" "Well, it's against my nature to laugh or smile." He thumbs at Light Adam. "That's Sunny Jim's department." So Light Adam and I watch this hilarious send-up of PSY's viral sensation Gangnam Style: and have ourselves a big fat laugh. That is what I love about both Adams -- no matter what else is going on, they make me feel a little less alone in this old world. Light Adam says he will water the plants and get the pool ready for fall. "OK. See you guys tomorrow, maybe." Yes, they answer together. Dark Adam stops what he's doing with that lighter and says, "Come back tomorrow."

Prince Feisal: Gasim’s time has come, Lawrence. It is written. T.E. Lawrence: Nothing is written. Sherif Ali: You will not be at Aqaba, English! Go back, blasphemer… but you will not be at Aqaba! T.E. Lawrence: I shall be at Aqaba. That, IS written. [pointing to forehead] In here.
