6.24.12 Adam on T4 (UK) and Summerthing (San Fran)

YES ! I don't know how he does it , but am so grateful he has the energy to keep going ;D ;D ;D ;D

Ok, I'll try to collect my thoughts into some kind of coherent recap

(First, thank you all SOOOOoooo much for the bday wishes—I'm so touched. Love you all!)

So, as some of you know I have a new-ish coworker who is an Adam fan. Not a stan, but she really loves him. We bonded, naturally, and she has a radio connection at Alice and when Summerthing was announced she told me she got us both VIP passes. So this is how I got my day today- yay! We spent a few hours at Pride in the morning, and then got to GG Park just as the first singer was finishing.

The crowd was really big when we got there, but more spread out over the huge field. As time passed, it got more and more dense, and by the time Adam came on it was just a solid mass of people as far back as I could see. The "living dead" people you saw up front were actually mostly hard-core stans who had waited since morning. The people in the middle did a good bit of flailing, but the ones in front of me just sort of swayed. LOL not really sure what that was about, but they were definitely enjoying themselves. Biggest crowd responses were for WWFM and NCOE. Alice plays NCOE a bunch, so lots of people knew it. Once in a while I tore my eyes from Adam and I could see the crowd really engaged and totally into it. For the openers, there had still been lots of people sitting, but everyone I could see was on their feet for Adam.

Adam looked amazing, as you already can see, and his energy was really light-hearted and fun. I loved his banter, and he clearly feels a connection with SF and knows the city well
I see some people talking about IIHY. It's funny—a bunch of people were yelling for Strut, and the band started to play it for a few seconds, but it was just a fake-out intro before he started IIHY. For me it sounded fine, although the beginning was a bit confusing, but the song was such a highlight of the FYE tour, and it just doesn't feel the same in the midst of the new songs. But the crowd knew it and they were into it, so it's all good.

The notes on Broken English were mind-boggling. I really, really, reallllllly love that song live. Kickin In sounded the best I've heard live. Hot Stuff!!!!!!!!! I can't believe we got a brand-new cover!!!!!!! So fun and I never wanted it to end, but then he slid right into Cuckoo and that was awesome also.

Let's see…. re the M&G, it was rushed but incredible. About 8 of us were taken to the area where the artists' tents were set up and told to "stay together, don't move, behave!" LOL they seemed very concerned that we would rush the tent. After a few minutes, he came out and was led away to a different area where there was a line of about 25 people who had won the call-ins. It kind of freaked me out how incredible he looked. Like I said, super skinny, especially his legs in those legging/pants. Perfect hair, total freckle explosion all over his arms. Tall tall tall, and just such a beautiful powerful stride with perfect posture. You really can't help but stare. And stare I did, let me assure you. After a while he was brought back and then he sat in another tent and had an interview. The radio people really seem to like him, and there was pics with them and hugging and everyone seemed really sweet to him.

Meanwhile in our little group, the radio gal guarding us was talking about how awesome he had been on Idol and was trying to remember who had won his season. "Kris Allen," I said. "No," she replied, "I don't think so. I'll think of his name in a minute." I gave her a minute, but she couldn't come up with anything. I assured her that it was indeed Kris Allen and then she had a flash of recognition, and remembered that he had actually performed at this very Summerthing two years prior. LOL. Anyhooo… :

So finally it was our turn for pics, and it was fast fast fast. They made people go up two at a time, but I had berted so hard that the radio gal said I could get my pic taken with him all by myself, hahah. So I go up to him in a daze with what I'm quite sure was an absolutely ridiculous expression on my face. Adam takes pity on me and greets me with a warm "Hi, nice to see you!" I try to collect my scattered wits and quickly thank him for coming all the way to SF for this show, and I wish him good luck with Queen, and tell him that I'll be seeing them in London. He's all, "Oh my god, that's great! Thank you!" and then he's reaching out to position me properly for the picture and has his arm around my shoulder and that's when I had an out-of-body experience because the next thing I know I was back at my table shaking like a leaf.

Looking back, I am yet again struck by his remarkable energy. He just exudes an odd mixture of calmness and in-the-moment attentiveness and a sort of lightness. I don't know how to describe it, really, but it's pretty amazing. He's a very cool chap and I'm rather fond of him

That's all I can think of, other than that today was pretty much the perfect day from start to finish. I feel so lucky!!!
