Check out the beginning og this Bowie video where at around 35 sec mark he breaks into a little grin before getting back into character, It so reminded me of those great Adam moments.

For everyone (like me) who's worried that Adam # 2 means the death of camp, watch this (campy video where Adam states that his tour will be family friendly , starting at 40 sec mark, juxtaposed with actual footage of very grown up shenanigans. My guess is someone will be able to make a similar video regarding camp after the next tour begins.
The one thing I've noticed with many of the great campy singers like Freddy and Bowie (and Adam )is that they had a powerful aura of dignity about them even at their most outrageous. I think of Adam and all the idiot djs who wanted to kiss him and make fun of his make up but Adam never let them get away with trying to paint him as the clown and always walked away being the bigger person. I remember watching an interview Bowie did with Dick Cavett after the Ziggy Stardust/ Dimond Dogs era and Cavett was talking about how he scared so many people. Also this was to point where he talks about wanting to get away from playing characters and just wanting to be himself for a moment. It seemed to fit what Adam saying. Though Bowie here is not his usual articulate self, it's almost a little painful watching it knowing his addictions are getting the better of him, but there are some interesting Adam comparisons.
