An example of this is that Lyndsey Parker's Yahoo music column no longer allows for the posting of comments to anything she writes about Adam due to vicious, vile and violent remarks (calling for Adam's castration, etc) that began to appear in the last year. Remarks of this extreme nature, as far as I know, were not there during Idol, and during the launch of FYE. But they were there as the new era began. Lyndsey's articles have always had a lot of vile comments ... I reported them to Yahoo on several occasions, and also tweeted to Lindsey several times that allowing those comments was a poor reflection on her column, she should have the comments moderated. I was essentially ignored and finally quit going to her site. Although I was glad to see that they finally took some action, I wish they had chosen to moderate the comments rather than eliminate them ... positive comments are a good thing, and now they are gone too ...  The ONLY reason they took action is because GLAAD stepped in. After a particular and vile round of comments people started reporting them to GLAAD who evidently agreed because they stepped in quickly and contacted Yahoo. Lyndsey feigned ignorance and said she was shocked at the comments even though people have been pointing them out to her for the last couple of years. There are a lot of cowards who hide behind keyboards. Ironically you'd probably see a lot of these in the RL claiming what good people they are. I see it a lot in the Idol world too. Fans of other idols setting up fake accounts on twitter to spew their ugliness. The most surprising thing I learned along the way was that a lot of this came from grown adults who had families and children. |

I finally got around to figuring out how to upload vidoes to YouTube. In honor of the 1 month aniversity of Adam's concert at Six Flags on May 26, 2012 I've uploaded this set to: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLA5898FED24510D89&feature=edit_okThese videos were taken with my new Q3HD video camera which has 2 external microphones. This gives much better sound quality, i.e., no distortions, than the usual video cameras. However, the sound level is lower so you will need to turn the sound up, or even better, wear headphone. I think it automatically turns the recording level down to avoid some of the distortions from loud booming sounds. P.S. Cuckoo is still processing, so please check back in a while to view. |

Wait for it.... I met up with other midwest Atoppers this weekend and it was so wonderful to meet with other Adam centric people. ( I can't recommend meeting other wonderful AFL fans enough. Hi!!! cheriemelissa, vickisusanne, and laceyrose  )) We of course spent 24 hours discussing everything Adam. Some of us had Texas connections and my son just got married in my home town of San Antonio two weeks ago, so we discussed the climate for gays in Texas. So closely after discussing this we have theThe 8 day article plus Heathcliff's commentary of the two girls shot in Texas. (Gets up on own soapbox, scroll warning...) Who is the freak now? Nobody should be hurt for how they love. Period!! Love is too precious to be snuffed because someone is afraid and looking for a scapegoat. I believe that justice and love will overcome, but I don't think it will be easy. I think think there will be major pushback, because people want to maintain their bit of imagined status quo and will resist it before they will change. But.....perserverance and a refusal to go "quietly into the night" so that others can extinguish our light will not happen. Our lights will combine into a beacon of change and hope partially led by our peaceful, fierce inspiration - Adam Lambert and our own Atop sense of wrongness about the injustice of inequality. I truly believe we will overcome. (Steps off soapbox.) |
