I can tell you living in the south and the bible belt, there are some strong attitudes towards gays. The other day, a man who sets up sound systems, home theaters etc was present in my home to do some work. He had been in our home before, and felt he could speak. He explained how religious he was, and that his wife homeschooled their children, as he didn't want his children influenced by the world. He then began expounding on gays, and gay marriage. You can guess where that was going. Right in the midde of the job, I told him to leave my home, and that he better not bill me for work performed. He was dumbfounded. I told him, you spew hate in my home, you pay the consequences. I told him for future business practice do not combine business with religion. I also told him, he was doing his children a disservice, not exposing them to the world, because all he was creating was an atmosphere of hate. What I found interesting, that this was not solicitated, but people feel the need to let their feelings be known, and they're not shy. He never apologized.....the bastard. GO SMOKEYVERA !! What's amazing is that he assumed you would agree with him ! I love you Smokeyvera. You are my kind of gal. Continue to speak up. I try to anytime I hear something derogatory about my man Adam or any kind of snide remark about my gays. I am sick to death of giggling radio personnel too. Everytime some jerk starts in on me because I love Adam Lambert and his music, I get almost hysterical. To maintain my cool, especially to religious people, I have to tell them that God gave Adam an amazing gift, and if he didn't use it, God would surely be mad. Enough said.

www.afterelton.com/2012-hot-100#slide-41-field_photo_gallery-46359Announcing the 2012 AfterElton Hot 100! Prepare yourselves for the 100 hottest men on Earth! This year in our sixth annual Hot 100 reader poll, over ninety thousand votes were cast by our readers for over fifteen hundred different men. We tallied the votes and ranked the top 100 vote-getters. Given our readership of gay men and their friends, it's no surprise that gay or bi guys are well-represented on this year's Hot 100 (roughly 20%). And many of the straight folks who made the cut have either played compelling gay roles before, or have spoken up in support of marriage equality and GLBT rights. Our diverse list includes actors, musicians, politicians, and athletes. And we're thrilled to note that men of color are better represented than they have been in previous years. Will last year's winner Darren Criss pull off a repeat? What up and coming hot celebrities made the cut for the first time? All will be revealed in the galleries below. Click on the magnifying glass to enter the full-size lightbox to scroll through the results. 10. Adam Lambert His sophomore release Trespassing went #1. The out-and-proud star continues to be our American Idol! Follow him on Twitter at @adamlambert

I didn't comment earlier because I would like to read about the incident in a fuller report first. I don't know yet whether the horrible person who did this was motivated by hate against lesbians in general, which would provoke one kind of soul-searching, or some personal vendetta against the girls, which would provoke another. It's awful no matter what. I really agree with what bridgeymah posted earlier. We are at a turning/tipping point with gay rights. This is history in the making. I can't tell you how many time my dad has told me about the terrible 1963 bombing in Birmingham that killed the four little girls going to Sunday school. Before that time, my dad said he wasn't that enthused about the civil rights movement ... he wondered why the activists had to push so hard. After the bombing ... any decent person in America had a broken heart. How many times have we seen folks insist that homophobia really isn't that bad out there? It is as if decent, regular people need to see the hate, naked and raw, before they really understand that we are all in this together. But there is good news: the reality is that Americans are becoming more accepting of homosexuality, particularly in the last 5 years. There are a number of recent studies from organizations like Gallup and the Pew Research Center demonstrating this trend. In 2011, a study by the Pew Center reported that the majority (58%) of Americans said that homosexuality should be accepted by society. In questions related to parenting, only 35% said that gay/lesbian parents are "bad for society". Gay marriage is still polarizing; just under half of Americans approve, but this is a significant improvement from 2009, when only 35% approved. Link to Pew Research Center study: pewresearch.org/pubs/1994/poll-support-for-acceptance-of-homosexuality-gay-parenting-marriageI think the reason why the hate groups are seemingly more vocal is that they know they are losing the battle, particularly among the young. Two-thirds of adults under 30 say that society should be accepting of homosexuality, compared to 47% of those 65+. Recent history and demographics are moving against the haters and they know it so, as Bridgeymah said, they are fighting more vocally and viciously. But they ARE losing and that is a very good thing.
I have to say the youth that surrounds me, is way more open minded than in some places where they are taught by the older generation what is right and wrong. They will only believe what is drilled into their heads. I do see it being more accepted, but until then things like this are just uncalled for, JMO.

However he said: ‘I’ve grown a lot more comfortable with my position and I am actually embracing the opportunity to be able to address this stuff through music.' Lambert said the film and television industry has been finding a social responsibility in bringing gay characters into the mainstream. He said: ‘What’s so exciting over the past couple of years is we’ve moved past those cliché gay characters. It’s moved past the clown, the comic relief and the joke. more

This just makes me tired - he has the constitution of a horse.I think Adam has perfected the art of disco naps so he can maintain this unreal schedule. I would have dropped over weeks ago.
Proof he's not human? ;D I do however worry about him ending up w/ exhaustion and passing out at some point :(
