I remember my first goosebumps moment watching Adam was when he stood sparkling in his platform boots and shoulder situation surveying the crowd right before he sand Beth during idol final. Like he was where he belonged... Yep like that. Didn't watch Idol except for that the night before the finally and then the last half of the final show where Adam did Beth, Kiss, Queen. That is the moment I said to myself OMFG this guy can hold his own to these icons and just WOW! Spent the rest of the night downloading every performance from AI from Itunes and Google-ing him. Took awhile to wrap my head around some of the Youbube videos as being Adam. But loved them all. PS... Who was that guy on stage just now? |

Elton sounds so good. But, yes his range is more limited than when he was younger. A product of too much pushing his voice when he was gigging or just age? Dunno. But, in comparison, Adam is gonna blow their minds. Plus, I have to say, I don't think that there is anything interesting to watch while Elton sings. Again, Adam will own every inch of that stage. No disrespect to Elton. He is dong a wonderful job. And the sound system is remarkable. That piano sounds so rich! Hope that bodes well for Queen's sound system. Maybe that is one of the things Adam will learn from Brian and Roger ---- how to get the best sound.. isn't that just a natural effect of aging? As we age don't our vocal chords loosen and aren't as tight so that would impact his range wouldn't it? I've never heard a singer who sounded the same at age 60 as they did at age 20 or 30. He's amazing and still so freaking entertaining. Elton had surgery in the late 1980's to remove nodules on his vocal cords. He lost a lot of his upper range after that. But he still sounds pretty good. He's 65 now -- that's over 40 years of rocking out.  And he still has mad piano skillz. |
