(NOTE: :)My comments are not meant towards YOU but to the fan base in general, and I stipulate my writing comes off as very direct but it's just my "way" from being in a hurry and having been a tech writer for so long.)
That's fine, I can speak very directly as well and I would like to tackle your post here
To be fair Adam is a very active musician with a ton of news to report. Queen is not very active as an entity. It was quite bigger when Queen toured with Paul Rodgers and the like.
[quote[We won't even go INTO how rude they are towards Adam's fans and enjoy the practice of kicking kittens.
Some are - one though let's face it is an adam fan harasser that came from another site - I wouldn't count him.
I missed that. Not saying it didn't happen but I don't remember that.
He might be. I don't know for certain but I wouldn't be surprised if there was one *shrugs* They only had three weeks and I believe in one of the videos I saw evidence of one. It isn't horrible given the timeframe
[/IMG]
That I would agree with.
This I would not so much agree. There are quite a few older non-hit tracks that Paul Rodgers for example could have handled well. Adam could handle different tracks as could Tom Chaplin from Keane (who sang It's A Hard Life at the Princes' Trust with B&R - if you look for the video it is sublime and won complete adoration from all the fans on QOL.)
To be fair it's not the fact that they are trying to connect with the current generation but the argument is that they are ignoring the fans that got them where they are in the first place. I think a bit of balance would get them far to satisfying both sides.
Again agreed, and again there could be a better balance I think.
LOL First rule about Queen. Take ANYTHING Roger says with a grain of salt. That comment was very tongue in cheek. And this is not bashing
Now this I take exception with...and I think Brian would as well. Freddie used to crack Brian up all the time. They had a ton of fun working together and touring together.
To this I will say that knowing more of the posters there, I think you'll actually find that most of the homophobia you mention is done VERY ironically. Some of the worst offenders, "jokers" are proudly homosexual themselves and are just very dry. I understand why they are misunderstood. I'm not saying it's a good way to act...but I think they are trying to play on some Adam's fans...tendency to get extremely passionate (being nice
)
I do think it worked both ways. There were some posts from Adam fans that accused Queen fans for not liking the collaboration because Adam was gay. Which to me seemed like quite a jump to make. I do believe some people took up with that and decided to ratch it up ironically. I'm not saying it doesn't exist and I'm not trying to condone it because I don't condone homophobia in any fashion...but both sides kind of got under each other's skins on that one.
Fact? I'm not sure that's a statement you can make. He was very happy with Queen and lived out some great dreams such as his opera album with Montserrat Caballe etc. I think that's a bit OTT.
Its not like he didn't explore the genres in Queen - look at Hot Space, etc. And Freddie's first solo album is absolutely 80s pop. But do diehard fans have to like every product put out by an artist? I don't like every song Freddie ever did and he's a musical god to me.
Personally: His sacrifice speaks for itself. Because of his notoriety he was completely unable to pursue happiness and experience a complete and fulfilled life - with Mary Austin he was locked into her emotionally unable to pursue a true relationship with a man. And at the end, had to mask his male partner as the gardener for six years. The tragedy of his life is completely overshadowed by his so called "fans" demands for Freddie purity and "more music, more music, more music". No Freddie No Queen. PFFFT Even Freddie's death bed statement was clinical. He was unable to be true to himself and put out the message for his LGBT community including asking for research and funding to put the ghey plague in the forefront of research because of this "fanbase" and public opinion.
Again I'm not certain where this comes from either. I'm also exactly sure what you mean. I mean I always knew Freddie was gay and it never bothered me in the slightest. I think you are assuming too much when it comes to Mary. They just were closer than anyone. Freddie's quote about all his male and female lovers (well 2 anyways) were that none of them compared to Mary. They just knew each other completely. I don't think that was an attempt to hide. I'm not a fool, he definitely did a few things if not to hide, then to at least avoid the conversation but I think you're being awfully harsh on an entire fanbase there.
To be fair again it was a fair question - I never saw it as an accusation merely a suggestion. It was something that had been done since 1974 except when in Ireland even with the PR tours. I think you are seeing vitriol there where it is. Someone suggested it might have been because Adam was American but it wasn't in a pejorative fashion.
They should know because we know there are two people Greg Brooks/Gary Taylor whose jobs it is to archive the material. Rog even went on about what they have been finding...so it is there and it does sound good.
Who doesn't make a dime on it?
ONE IMPORTANT FACT is that some fans are upset more with Queen Productions in general than specifically B&R. And supposedly Brian and Roger were adding to the tracks so they would make a dime off it.
If it was Freddie's solo material it would go to Freddie's estate as managed by Jim Beach, partially to Mary, partially to Freddie's sister and his parents. But most of the solo stuff isn't in question since the Freddie Solo Anthology was put out in a very comprehensive box set in 2000....which of course led to the discussion that because Freddie wasn't around to veto it and B&R COULDN'T veto it, is the only way so much archival material was released....
The copy of the will is actually accessible. If it is Queen recordings it is a 4 way split between the band. That was decided in 1989.
Anyways not trying to start any vicious argument - not my scene...but I felt compel to do at least a slight rebuttal...
