oh by the way, regarding Roger's solo work, did you see that Dave Fuller (once again!) posted on his blog a preview of 'Smile' (new track by Roger)? daverfuller.tumblr.com/post/46034962700/roger-taylor-smile-new-track-previewmaybe it is one of the tracks that you already have, unfortunately it is not the version that segues into 'I Am The Drummer In A Rock 'n' Roll Band' which I would really like to hear! anyway it sounds like a good Roger ballad, I hope that he will release his new album soon!

I did see it! I have heard the full version of both songs. Smile is AWESOME...I loved it. Very Happinessesque/Beatlesesque. Drummer is...more...interesting Roger. Very tongue in cheek, kind of strange but fun. Hopefully roger releases his album soon. Also Brian and Kerry previewed the single edit of their new song The Kissing Me Song...Not a bad piece of pure pop! soundcloud.com/thekissingmesong/the-kissing-me-songThat's the single edit....

ok, maybe this is not exactly appropriate for a 'beginners' guide to Queen music'. but it's quite interesting!

I thought it was a great little hook. Sure I'd rather him be performing with Roger, solo, or with a more rock oriented collaborator but for what it is it's decent :D With regards to the list - I saw it and am impressed at the confirmation of some of the stuff that's out there - of course the collecting world was just thrown into a tizzy....

Cowboys and Indians
Written by: Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Roger Taylor - vocals, guitars, bass guitar(?), drums, keyboards Spike Edney - keyboards, vocals John Deacon - bass guitar (?)
- There is speculation that this is a track that John played bass on. - This was issued as a single and hit #74 in the charts. - This was played live throughout the Cross' short career, but more sporadically as time went on.
ALTERNATE VERSIONS
VINYL SINGLE VERSION
- NOT ESSENTIAL - The pitch is increased a touch making it go a bit faster thus it is a bit shorter.
SINGLE VERSION NO YT VID - NOT ESSENTIAL - Slight edits in beginning and ending.
UNRELEASED LIVE VERSIONS
LIVE AT THE ROXY
LIVE IN LONDON
PERSONAL NOTES: - For some reason I love this song. It's another attempt at dance rock and it just works well for me. A fun tune.
Next up? Roger makes Contact

Contact
Written by: Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Roger Taylor - vocals, guitars, bass guitar, drums, keyboards Spike Edney - keyboards, vocals
- Played live during the Shove It tour and then put away.
PERSONAL NOTES: - I don't have many quirky facts for this one because this one was never really talked about or released past the album. It's a decent enough track though. Very spacey. Very dancy. Great melody. I dig it.
Next up? The most well known Cross song...and a guest vocal by one Freddie Mercury Heaven For Everyone

Heaven For EveryoneWritten by: Roger Taylor Musicians: Roger Taylor - lead vocals (US version/Single), guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboards Spike Edney - keyboards, vocals Freddie Mercury - lead vocals (UK and European issues), backing vocals (US issue) - Performed live by The Cross through 1990 and a few times during one-offs later on. - This version features Freddie on lead vocals. These vocals would be used when Queen later re-made the track for Made In Heaven- Issued as a single but it did not chart. - For the US version, Roger recorded the lead vocals. - This song was originally written for singer Joan Armatrading but she declined to use it at the time. Roger took it back and it was demoed with Queen as far back as the A Kind Of Magic sessions. ALTERNATE VERSION ROGER LEAD VOCAL- ESSENTIAL - Roger's voice is a bit more relaxed and there are a few extra moments. QUEEN VERSION
- See Made In HeavenUNRELEASED LIVE VERSION LIVE AT GENEVA 1990- Great live version LIVE AT GUILDFORD 2013- Live from The Cross reunion show! PERSONAL NOTES: - Beautiful song. Really nice sentiments. It was great that it was eventually Queenized. One of my favorite Roger tracks. Next up: Stand Up For Love

Stand Up For Love
Written by: Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Roger Taylor - vocals and most instruments Spike Edney - keyboards, vocals
- Played live throughout the Shove It Tour - Issued as the B-Side to the Cross' non album single Manipulator
UNRELEASED LIVE:
LIVE ON NO. 73
- Posted during the 1987 gigs, it also includes Cowboys and Indians but the song worked even better live. PERSONAL NOTES: - Despite it's repetition which can drag out, I love this track. Very upbeat and moving. It is much like a dance rock effort should be.
NEXT UP: Roger starts with some more silly lyrics - Love On A Tightrope (Like an Animal)
