[busily analyzing Dr. Bri's personality...] Here's the thing: People who spend an excessive amount of time pondering the universe and staring at the stars are, by default, sensitive souls prone to melancholy. Pondering the night sky leads to feeling insignificant, helpless, and puny in the GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS which, in turn, leads to songs like Some Day, One Day, Who Wants to Love Forever, and Save me... heck, even White Queen. ;D

COMPLETE FIRST NIGHT AT EARLS COURTWhat a treat! Almost 2 hours of recording. And my favorite song at 1:04 So in love with Freddie''s voice and the way he sings .... ahhhh.... was that drums at 1:05:51? Was that part of the song? :D Indeed! And more is coming! That sound was definitely a mistake - I believe it was something from Roger's drum kit falling off near a mic. But Freddie just professionally waits for it to end and then continues! Earl's CourtWTF AM I LISTENING TO FROM 1:13--> 1:17 :4OMG: That is Freddie's vocal acrobats. It's based in part on the middle section of The Prophets Song from A Night At The Opera. It started with Brian's love of delays in his guitar solo...Freddie decided to use it vocally and have fun with it. Talon, do you have Brian's 1992 solo album, Back To The Light? I mean, do you own it? Two copies. :D Probably tied for my favorite solo project. Queen's setlist was 24 songs or more for the Day at the Races tour. Sigh. I wonder if Adam will ever do 24 songs. Sigh. I'm tired of just 10 songs in one-offs that last an hour MAX. Sounds like a plan Reading your recommendations for a "future QAL concert" and I saw you mentioned Drowse. So I went to youtube to listen to Drowse and one of the comments under the vid said: "When I was a kid this album got warped in the sun and I was so distraught that I buried it in the backyard and held a funeral service." :D I would have done the same! :4OMG: Save Me (written by Brian May) And on Talon's recommended QAL list: I hang my head and I advertise A soul for sale or rent I have no heart, I'm cold inside I have no real intent Save me Save me Save me I can't face this life alone Save me Save me Oh... I'm naked and I'm far from home Each night I cry, I still believe the lie I'll love you 'til I die jeeeeez, Bri. brb, feeling suicidal. I shed a few tears myself over the years...and strained a few vocal chords! [busily analyzing Dr. Bri's personality...] Here's the thing: People who spend an excessive amount of time pondering the universe and staring at the stars are, by default, sensitive souls prone to melancholy. Pondering the night sky leads to feeling insignificant, helpless, and puny in the GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS which, in turn, leads to songs like Some Day, One Day, Who Wants to Love Forever, and Save me... heck, even White Queen. ;D Excellent analysis! How true...how true!

1977 LIVE - MISCELLANEOUS NON TOUR DATES
09/14/77 - Roger Taylor UK TV - on MARC BOLAN TV SHOW Setlist: I Wanna Testify
-- Roger released his single earlier in the year and made this one TV appearance to promote it. Marc Bolan was a glam rocker with T-Rex who had a few big hits back in the day. He was killed in a car crash in less than 2 weeks.
10/06/77 - Queen New London Theatre Centre - London, UK Setlist: Speech/We Are The Champions - Shoot 1/Speech/We Are The Champions - Shoot 2/Tie Your Mother Down/Keep Yourself Alive/Somebody To Love/White Man/The Prophet's Song/Liar/Bohemian Rhapsody Intro/Now I'm Here/Jailhouse Rock/See What A Fool I've Been
-- When Queen shot the promo video for We Are The Champions they invited the fan club in to be the crowd. As a thank you, the band played a short set which was unique to any other set. They could only do the BoRhap intro since they didn't have the tape set up for the operattic section. It was kind of a fun, very loose kind of gig.

:D Well he did that night....I don't think he really had a voice - it was more of a drunken singalong I hope it does surface eventually as well! It would be fun!

Jazz (1978)A little background: - This is a very interesting album and time period for the band. It is a very divisive album amongst the fanbase. Some love it, some are not so fond of it. After the idea of stripping everything back during News Of The World the band did seem to be treading water a bit. There was no set direction to go towards - so it seemed more to be simply time for another album. Thus Jazz isn't the most inspired of Queen albums BUT on the other hand there isn't anything glaringly wrong with it either. - With little idea on a direction they turned back to Roy Thomas Baker to produce the album to try to spark a little life back into the project with some success. The main problem is that rock in general was kind of in a state of flux. Punk had been huge and now new wave and disco were also flaring up. Straight up rock and roll didn't really know where it fit. The band always tried to adapt and did so a bit on this album but it just seems to be a by the numbers album. - Luckily Queen is such a damn talented bunch of people that a by the numbers album is still a good, fun album. It does include some excellent and memorable tracks. - Roger has stated he is not a fan of this album overall and I can see why from his point of view. The mixing of his drum sound was not spectacular and his songwriting was fairly weak in comparison to his other output. - The main negative from this album is actually that it signifies a band starting to drift apart a bit. What briefly was hinted at in News Of The World, the band was starting to go off in their own directions. Freddie was more exploring his bisexuality and loving the gay clubs. The band didn't have a problem with that but Freddie was getting a bit more distracted and separate. - This album was meant to perpetually keep the band touring which is what they really loved at this point anyways. - With that being said, there are a ton of good songs on this album. It has been suggested that a re-worked track listing would do the album wonders. - Released in November 1978 it hit #6 in the US, #2 in the UK, #8 in Austria, #13 in Canada, #3 in the Dutch charts, #7 in France, #5 in Germany, #36 in Italy, #5 in Japan, and #4 in The Netherlands, #20 in New Zealand, #6 in Norway, #6 in Sweden. - It sold approximately 5-6 million copies worldwide. - NO SYNTHS!Tracks on the album: 1. Mustapha (Mercury) 2. Fat Bottomed Girls (May) 3. Jealousy (Mercury) 4. Bicycle Race (Mercury) 5. If You Can't Beat Them (Deacon) 6. Let Me Entertain You (Mercury) 7. Dead On Time (May) 8. In Only Seven Days (Deacon) 9. Dreamers Ball (May) 10. Fun It (Taylor) 11. Leaving Home Ain't Easy (May) 12. Don't Stop Me Now (Mercury) 13. More Of That Jazz (Taylor) First up is the outrageous Mustapha

MustaphaWritten by: Freddie Mercury Musicians: Freddie Mercury - lead and backing vocals, piano Brian May - guitars John Deacon - bass guitar Roger Taylor - drums, hawk-bells - Issued as a single in Yugoslavia, Bolivia, Germany and Spain. - The words have never really been translated and supposedly is mostly nonsense Arabic words. - This was a song that was played live sporadically through 1980 in full but the fans loved it! Even when they stopped playing it in full, the fans would often chant it...Occasionally Freddie (and in some instances even Brian during his solo tours) would indulge and at least sing the beginning. You heard it already on the Live Killers' version of Bohemian Rhapsody which is the only officially released version but I won't post that again. UNRELEASED LIVE PERFORMANCES QUEEN LIVE IN ST. PAUL 1980- Not great quality but there aren't many videos of the full version of the song! QUEEN LIVE IN JAPAN 1985- A snippet only right before Hammer To FallBRIAN MY LIVE IN GERMANY 1993- AUDIO only. - Brian randomly sang it a few times. PERSONAL NOTES: - This is probably my kids favorite Queen song overall. It's just a fun opener with no meaning at all. Next up is quite a familiar track and I hope you're ready to shake your fat asses Fat Bottomed Girls

JAZZA little background: - The main negative from this album is actually that it signifies a band starting to drift apart a bit. Why did they name the album JAZZ? Was this around that time when Freddie hired his personal assistant? Can't remember his name but if I remember from DOOL he seemed to be partly responsible for encouraging Freddie to explore different type of music. Mustapha- The words have never really been translated and supposedly is mostly nonsense Arabic words. PERSONAL NOTES: - This is probably my kids favorite Queen song overall. It's just a fun opener with no meaning at all. Ha Ha! Can't fault your kids. :D Catchy tune...but hard to sing along. This would be a song fitted for "Bollywood" dance. ;D See? Freddie was way ahead of his time. ____________________________________________ BTW did anybody notice my signature line below???? :D

JAZZA little background: - The main negative from this album is actually that it signifies a band starting to drift apart a bit. Why did they name the album JAZZ? I believe it was after Roger's song More Of That Jazz In that case it doesn't mean Jazz the music...it's kind of slang for tough talk or what not. It probably was a bit confusing though given the musicality. Although there is one track on the album which would fit in well! The name was Paul Prenter. I don't know when Freddie met him honestly...but I think it wasn't quite yet. I think the restlessness of the period though did lead Freddie to Paul's circle. It was fairly close because by 1980 Paul was definitely around. So I would bet they met during the tour for Jazz and Live Killers. Indeed he was! I DID! I meant to mention it during my last response! I LOVE it! Thanks for always being so supportive
