Hey all - stopping by because I read the recent RT interview and it made me think of you guys...Figured I'd throw my $.02 in

You might get your wish. Queen filmed the 2016 Barcelona concert with Adam using 360 degree cameras. Brian May has been talking about releasing footage for use with virtual reality viewers, including his latest invention. Here is an excerpt:
"The band filmed its recent Barcelona concert with 360-degree cameras that zoomed around the gig on a four-point wire system suspended over the crowd -- the type of camera you've probably seen flying over arenas and sports fixtures. You'll be able to soak up the atmosphere, both on stage and from within the crowd, by watching the resulting VR experience through a wallet-friendly 3D and VR viewer developed by May himself, called the Owl."
I have a Google cardboard VR viewer, and the 3D viewing experience is pretty cool. Thinking about buying Brian's OWL viewer, too. But personally, I'd also like a standard DVD/CD release of the concert, for the larger visual image on my TV and so I can blast it on my stereo.
Sadly enough - my sources don't have much of an idea of a QAL live release...which surprises me...one told me that there is nothing planned that they know of for any kind of genuine release....AND the Barcelona thing would probably be a very small portion...maybe a song or two - if at all as it may be one of Brian's pipe dreams.
"Does it get harder to recognise those better things or to continually feel that you've come up with something new?
I think at the end of it, only you can be the judge. And at our stage in our career, which is obviously very late, we wouldn't expect to make a contemporary album now, because frankly I don't think we'd know how to. It's also a matter of expectation - people might expect something that they might not expect from a very contemporary band, so it's kind of doubly impossible. You couldn't make it avant-garde enough... it just wouldn't fit because it wouldn't be us, so it's very difficult. I think you just have to do things on your own terms.
Does that also make it hard to consider recording a new Queen album then? There's regularly talk about whether you'll go into the studio with Adam.
No, I think that we should actually, I don't know why we haven't got around to it. Of course Adam does have a fairly busy career on his own, but I think we should, but I don't think people should expect radically ground-breaking things, but I think we could make some very brilliant music with Adam and we should do.
But no concrete plans at this point?
No concrete plans, but I think we're just a bit too lazy really."
---------------
IMO the conundrum they are facing is exactly that (in red) and they would probably have a difficult time finding common ground in writing with Adam UNLESS Adam is willing to do a throwback album. So I am not very optimistic on a full album tbh, but I think a single is quite possible - they could test the waters!
I expect no new songs, new recordings under the Queen brand -- even with a plus AL.
We will eventually get a Live QAL DVD release.
Brian could do another guitar feature on Adam's next album but that is the only other new recording that seems likely to me. And even that doesn't seem destined to happen.
Q3 is usually spot on and I tend to agree with her assessment. I *STILL* think we will eventually get some kind of live release (despite my latest sources claims but they might wait until after they have stopped touring). I now am of the idea that we will never get a new QAL album. Roger himself said they are too lazy. If you look at all the interviews of the people involve they always answer the same way:
Adam - Always says you never know but always in a careful manner that makes it clear that he's not actively seeking it.
Brian - Always carefully saying No, nothing planned. Never ruling it out but never seemingly into it.
Roger - Always says they should and that he wants to but that there are no plans.
Basically unless all 3 want to, it ain't happening and we have Roger as the only one who actively wants it. Adam who probably would go ahead with it if B&R were gung ho - he'd just see it as one in many projects I think and Brian is the most hesitant. He always mentions the QPR album "failure" (it still went gold) and the fact that the fanbase have a hard time accepting Queen recordings without Freddie (and he's not wrong there). Brian is also "lazy" in terms of songwriting now. He works nonstop on MANY different ventures but he's not a songwriting machine anymore and most of his stuff goes to Kerry at this point (and even then her albums are more covers). The truth is Brian was kind of pushed into doing the QPR album and it shows. He's not all in....and if he's not all in well than it's not going to be Bri at his best.
NOW with that in mind...I do differ with Q3 a bit...I would not be surprised if they decide to do a one-off song as QAL. I hope for that still as a better than nothing angle. Roger would definitely accept that as he just wants to create/write. I think Brian could be much more open to doing a one-off for a soundtrack or something. And Adam would be the same way I would think. So we'll have to see. Basically in order of likelihood:
1. Brian and/or Roger guesting on an Adam track.
2. QAL Live
3. Nothing at all but touring/live appearances
4. Adam guesting on a Brian and/or Roger solo track (more likely Roger - though outside of the Brian/Kerry albums I don't know if we'll get more solo albums)
5. QAL Track
6. QAL Album.
Here is my take on it. Queen is riding high right now with Adam as frontman. It's a great place to be at this point in their career and many classic bands do not have that luck and privilege. I would hate for them to record new music with Adam (as good as that music might be) and have it not do well. They would be ending their long career (or close to it) on a negative note. I agree that the likelihood of new QAL music selling well is pretty slim, IMO. It's tons of work to write and record it, and the risk is high. I think Brian and Roger would prefer to go out like lions and not lambs. Ride the high tide with Adam till they simply can't or don't want to do it anymore. Adam will forever be in the annals of rock history because of Queen. His name will ALWAYS be there. That's a huge gift to him. I'm thinking that they will just leave well enough alone and continue on with Queen's incredible music legacy.
Now the argument against this is that they already did "tarnish" or "go out as lambs" when they did Cosmos Rocks with Paul Rodgers (and I liked the album well enough). I think a QAL album would at least be as successful saleswise so it might actually probably be an uptick of sorts...BUT I think Brian thinks it would probably be in the same vein.
Yup. In Brian-ese "500,000 = ~ 5"
I know I've asked this before... Does anyone know if this eventual live QAL DVD will be from when they filmed during the earlier tour (when they filmed in Sydney), or will they put something together with more recent performances? Adam was excellent early on, but he really seemed to get better and better as time went on.

If I remember correctly Talon said that Brian's like to exaggerate a bit hence the "half a million people" things.. LOL. But I still love him.
