If he's true to form Brian will throw something Beatles in - whether it's before LOML or if it's during his guitar solo....That's what he does in Liverpool

Talon I truly appreciate your input to Adamtopia. You have shared so much about Queen and the Queen catalog with us and brought us a Queen fans perspective that better helps us understand some things in a very respectful way. Thank you! THAK YOU TALON Talon, thank you so much for your reasoned responses. You, to my mind, are fair, balanced and articulate. I have found you to present your opinions clearly as opinions, and to deal with responses in a calm and patient manner. You stay true to your Freddie love, yet are not strident or over bearing, IMO. I appreciate your presence on this board more than I can say. I love the background we get about Queen, their inner workings, their history. I agree with so much of what you say, but most of all I appreciate the tone and tenor of your posts. For me, this board would be less without you. Thank you. It means a lot that my efforts are noticed...not only educationally, but I always try to consciously be as respectful as possible even in discussions that have a tendency to sometimes get...heated :D Yes^^^ Could not have found better words. Thank You Talon. As Adam said, they are not finished yet so hope you will be staying with us and continue to share with us.
Well with QAL continuing I'm SURE to stick around Plus I at least have to finish my Queen + comparison thread now AND at this point, I'm sure to give ToH a chance so....I'll be around even if I'm lurking....but I'm sure now and again I'll have something to say ....sorry to prolong the issue, but I was name checked and just want to reply. Yes, I was the one expressing my objections to the c word...and yes, I'm aware that it is a very common term in the UK (my daughter's boyfriend is Scottish - he's been sternly warned to never use it in my presence...or hers). That said, MP is not British. okay done with that! Haha! (and I also enjoy the knowledge of Queen that you share with us Talon...I've learned so much Fair enough :D Glad you've enjoyed learning Interesting perspective. I wouldn't compare FYE to Acoustic though....I would compare it to Trespassing.....and that's where we obviously disagree. To me Trespassing had a very cold production...there was very little warmth to the sound.... And that's quite fine. I can't speak to that or to his desires...I can only speak to my tastes and it is quite possible/probable they aren't going to overlap. Doesn't mean it's wrong or it's me saying what Adam SHOULD do...just what I would personally want to hear out of him.... This is a great point I was going to save my comments on the QAL tour until the end, but I just want to respond to Talon's great post.
My feeling is that Queen with Freddie and Queen with Adam are two different shows. I took my teen-age sons and their friend to see Queen with Freddie back in the day when Freddie was in his prime, so I went as an adult (not a kid), and it was the most amazing show I had ever seen. Freddie came on like gangbusters - he had so much energy, he was all over the stage, and he was in your face. He totally dominated the stage. In thinking back on that show, I agree with you, Talon, that there was a dark almost menacing quality about him - and that was part of his power. But even me, a rather quiet mom of two teen-age sons, I was up on my feet, raising my arms, and singing and shouting - you could feel it in your gut. YES! [/p] And now, here I am back again with Queen and Adam. This time I took my grandson to one concert (his dad couldn't go because of severe back problems) and then to another show with my other son with whom I shared the first Queen experience. So it's a generational thing for our family. I dearly love Adam and that's why I'm on this fan site. Adam's voice, his stage presence, and Adam just being Adam are what drew me in, and with Queen, I knew it just had to be a win-win deal - and it was. And here I am again, still a rather quiet grandma on my feet, singing, clapping, and carrying on. While the music is the same and Brian and Roger are the same, the show has a somewhat different vibe. I didn't feel the more darker quality that you described, Talon, with Freddie, but instead I felt more the power of total joy. Adam loves to perform, and his joy of performing just radiated with Brian, Roger, the band members, and us, the audience. One thing I really like about QAL is that Brian and Roger are so deservedly highlighted (something I missed when I saw the performance with Freddie years ago).
That's what it is. Queen with Freddie (especially in the 70s) was a hungry band and it was about world domination. Now the vibe is more of a "Yeah we did that...now we can enjoy ourselves". It's a lot more celebratory in a way and not a lot in the way of ambition/hunger. It's more just let's enjoy this while we got it. I too like that B&R get more due....I never got to see one of their solo gigs so this was nice to see a highlight for me. [/p] As a side note, I have a special affinity for Roger. I have lost a lot of my hearing as I know Roger has too. So to watch him getting his clues from Adam in "Under Pressure" has special meaning for me. I so appreciate that he still has all this music in his soul and is carrying on with it, and not caving in and giving up. Also Roger's voice carries for me a sweet pang as that it somehow reminds me so much of Queen in the old days.
I'll have a little more to say about my impressions of the QAL tour as a whole later on, but I wanted to respond to Talon's comments now.
You really should take a gander at his last solo album Fun On Earth. A lot of ballads and midtempo bits but it is quite nice to just hear Roger being Roger...

I think it is certain to be different. Adam has not been standing still for over 3 years. He has evolved. Adam: "It's very different than the Queen music. It's definitely a pop album with a lot of R&B, house music influences. But the songwriting is timeless." 1. "It's very different than the Queen music." My interpretation is no rock (Runnin'), no funk (Trespassing -- AOBTD's baseline), no big power ballads. >> I also know there will be no leftover tracks written for other artists (NL, BTIKM, NCOE). 2. "It's definitely a pop album with a lot of R&B, house music influences." There is almost no R&B influence in FYE or Trespassing. This is new. The only track on Trespassing that really incorporates house music influences is "Shady" but that is not a mainstream contemporary pop song -- although it is one of my favorite tracks. Whatever they came up with, I think it will have some twist. 3. "But the songwriting is timeless." This is different than Trespassing which was more about the moment in time. This statement and the amount of time, effort and focus he took on the songwriting, the two month songwriting camp, give me the most optimism that this will be an album and not a playlist of songs spanning genres with a loose connection one to another. 4. This is apparently the most important release for WBM for the Summer. That means they must believe it is a mainstream, big market album. Trespassing was not a mainstream album stylistically or thematically. 5. Max Martin is the Executive Producer. All in, I do not think this will be Trespassing 2.0. I for one am very happy and expected both the R&B (with an emphasis on the blues) and House influences. The signs were there back in late 2013 -- and they keep popping up. I don't disagree with those sentiments - what I worry more though is about sound - his voice being buried and it doesn't matter what kind of music it is - computery music < real instruments. Trespassing seemed to lean heavily on the former. Talon I truly appreciate your input to Adamtopia. You have shared so much about Queen and the Queen catalog with us and brought us a Queen fans perspective that better helps us understand some things in a very respectful way. Thank you! :D Thanks and You're welcome! Personally, I don't think the QAL tour was to make Adam fans of Queen fans! I mean, I know Brian and Roger like Adam but I don't think they are devoting more than a year of their lives to promote Adam. I think they wanted to tour for the reasons they said:1) People want to hear their iconic songs played by them 2) The partnership with Adam is A Kind Of Magic! For Adam and his team, I think it is 3 fold: 1) Adam loves the partnership also. 2) Adam is making enough money to afford him some independence to pursue what he wants. 3) It is exposing him to hundreds of thousands of people who had no idea who he was! Will they preorder his album, sight unseen as most of us will do? I doubt it! Will they give it a listen & consider it? Hopefully! Oh I didn't mean to imply that QAL tour was done for that reason. I agree it was mostly that Brian and Roger wanted to get out there and play. They found a voice worthy of them doing so with and Adam enjoyed it and was into the idea! I merely was stating that I saw over the course of the tour that many people were saying how Adam was gaining all sorts of new fans from this tour...and I was merely commenting on if those people would stay fans when he was away from Queen. If it's music like what is on Trespassing - I'm doubtful. I want to stress that I don't think that necessarily matters to Adam and certainly not WE as I'm sure they are after a different demo. I didn't expect a rock album. I just was hoping for more musicianship...giving Adam a real bed to lay his voice down on so to speak. Much like people have said it might be tough for him to do shows without the quality of musician he has at his back now...a set of real studio musicians would benefit him more than a lot of the synthesized stuff...even moreso if he got a set of studio musicians to play throughout (for the most part).... Regarding e., I don't see any problem with praising Adam or Freddie separately. What I have issue is the comparisons. Why compare? Quite honestly - for someone seeing a show like this for the first time there is no way NOT to compare. It's not like the comparisons are coming after Adam is doing a solo show with his music. Adam is singing Freddie's songs with Freddie's bandmates (and yes also B,R,and J's) so especially when someone did it so well for so long and has reached legendary status - comparisons are going to happen. Oh I think Queen fans have the same problem - that I will agree with. It didn't hurt my feelings at all though. BUT I honestly think people should be free to voice that opinion. I think Freddie is better than Adam. *shrug* I know people here think Adam is better than Freddie. *shrug* It's just personal opinion. It doesn't make their viewpoint any less valid in my eyes at least! Well there are certainly trolls from Queen fandom...and a few from Glamberts side as well. I agree that people saying he can't sing are obviously talking shit without any basis in fact. And hell yes, I've been to 3 shows and I think I'm definitely a Queen fan Although I do think some people on QZ/QOL should be taken with a grain of salt. They exaggerate and do so for humor's sake. Most if you seriously talk to them will tell you Adam can sing but they don't approve of him as a choice for whatever reason and it is their right to do so. The exaggeration, etc. though is childish but just meant to push buttons. They do it to get a rise out of Glamberts and they usually end up succeeding. Is it right. No. I just shake my head and laugh at it though because at the end of the day it really doesn't matter. It's not going to change Brian and Roger's mind, it's not hurting sales on the tour obviously and I think Adam (or Brian and Roger) couldn't care less about a few trolls lobbing stupidity.

In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited
Talon Entry
Played live through 1977 until We Are The Champions replaced it as the closer. It was brought out of the mothballs for the 1986 tour by Brian and then retired again til QAL 2014. In a one off for Freddie's birthday, the SAS band played the track with Brian tackling lead vocals. As far as Queen + or covers...we have two entries. Marc Martel & QE or QAL Marc Martel & Queen ExtravaganzaQueen + Adam LambertThis is a tough one. Marc is great, Adam is great. They both hit different niches. I do think Adam's is a bit more dramatic and his vocal a bit more...effortless SO...I'll give him the nod. Verdict: ADAM

Just a quick drive by...a lot was talked about today and i should have quoted people but I wanted to make a few comments at some of the things mentioned:
a. Light/Dark - Q3 I think has it mostly right. But beyond aggressiveness and rock voice I think it also means a bit more...It's something I've seen but couldn't really explain. Freddie seems to have more of a..dark side than Adam does. Freddie used to say he was evil and getting presents from the devil himself - there just seemed to be more of a dark side to his character...Adam...he seems mostly light. He's a fun loving angelic kind of guy. NOW I don't know him nearly as well or as in depth as you all, but the overall feeling he gives off is one of happy happy fun fun...Not that Adam has had it easy or anything like that. Freddie had the fun side too at times but it always seemed there was something a bit darker beneath the surface. Why does that matter? I guess because it affects the overall delivery of the music. Some will connect more with the darker parts of Freddie. And some find it almost mythological and elusive - mysterious.... Does that make sense?
b. GREAT to hear there will be more QAL. THINGS does allude to more than just continuing the tour - although it might just be continuing the tour and the DVD or whatever. BUT maybe some other special one off type shows...but hopefully this does include something NEW studio wise...even just one new song (Bond theme would be perfect...)
c. C**t - Ok, I almost find it a bit...surreal that I've been here long enough to know the basic storyline between Monte and Adam, lol...enough that I can follow along and not be confused..BUT with that being said I wanted to comment on...Duberville? And the use of c**t. I don't know where you are from duber but I've always found it amusing how different parts of the world can be offended by different terms. In America, c**t is probably one of the worst things you can say...but I've had friends in the UK who say that is a normal term in conversation...almost like damn or ass. Hell, Freddie used to say it a ton...never in hate more in silliness...HELL the ORIGINAL lyrics to Life Is Real started out:
C**t stains, on my pillow (Peter Freestone convinced Freddie it might not go so well on radio especially in America so it got changed to Cum stains....and then finally to the final Guilt stains....lol.
I have no comment on the M/A fans nonsense and I certainly don't mean to offend or tell anyone what to be offended by..just noting an observation.
d. Hearing about ToH - If it really is Trespassing 2.0, I for one will be disappointed. I was hoping for a bit more Queen influence. I didn't expect a rock album. But I was not a fan of Trespassing and if there was an idea of keeping fans he's gotten from the Queen side of things, a T 2.0 will not help. Maybe he doesn't care about that and if he doesn't - more power to him. BUT if there was a thought process behind the QAL tour helping him gain fans - than it will not help. See you guys here LOVE his voice and appear to be able to listen to him sing the telephone book. Which is fine, I would be the same way with Freddie (and if I'm honest, I have a soft spot for Rog also).
Now me? I HIGHLY enjoy Adam's voice. I like it quite a bit. BUT it's the music that makes me want to stick with an artist that I like. If you have the greatest voice but I don't like your music - I'm not going to buy your stuff.
Now I'm also not shooting down ToH without hearing it. I walk in with an open mind...just a little more hesitantly. House music is definitely NOT my thing. R&B done right and organically with real instruments - absolutely. Stuff with Nile could definitely be awesome. I like a bit of pop also. I don't need a rock album with loud guitars, etc. I just want an album with real instruments as they have a warmth these programmed stuff doesn't have. To equate it with Queen. Many fans hated Hot Space. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. It's one of my least favs. Many assume because Queen went disco or dancey or whatever...but it's not. It's how they recorded. It's no secret that they were in Munich at the time and doing a bit too much clubbing and Freddie had Paul Prenter trying to get Queen to sound like what they were hearing in the gay clubs at the time...but there was a ton of synth drums being used - synth bass, etc. I mean you have Roger Taylor and you are using synth drums? Um....what? That's why if you compare the studio versions of Staying Power, Action This Day, hell even Body Language with the live versions - it's AMAZING the difference. Sooo we'll have to see. I just hope Adam's voice isn't buried in the mix as much as it was with Trespassing. (imo)
e. This I hesitated to say but I figure we can all deal with a little bit of questioning. I certainly understand why FLD became a mantra here as there was a lot at the beginning so it was easy just to dismiss an FLD or whatever. BUT as many will say that praising Adam shouldn't be a slight to Freddie so there is no reason to say it...on the same token I find that many times if someone says they prefer Freddie to Adam it is automatically tossed out as a bad review or even worse as someone who has a "wrong" opinion - sorry if that is never the intent but I do think it comes off that way sometimes....SO If praising Adam shouldn't be a slight to Freddie or Freddie fans shouldn't the same be true? If someone says that in their mind no one can replace Freddie but Adam is great, isn't that a valid viewpoint?
I think it's not black and white. It's not FLD or not. There are shades within FLD's.
I mean if I were to write a review I would probably give off an FLD because it is truly how I feel. No one can replace Freddie but Adam has certainly done a damn good job performing with Queen. His voice is extraordinary, his presence is improving with each gig, and right now I think he's by far the best choice to front Queen.
To me, much like Adam takes time out to praise Freddie during the show, it's the same for reviewers and fans - They want to acknowledge where the band came from and Freddie's influence and impact.
NOW if a review slams Adam and the whole article is how Freddie was far better and that the show can't live up to the past or Freddie takes up 75-80% of the reivew...than THAT is something that could be dismissed or ignored.
Is there a difference there? I might just be being sensitive...and if that is the case, I apologize. Just some thoughts I was having.

msloyalfan, I don't think there'd be any confusion because of the difference between Wembley Stadium (that holds 90,000) and the little Wembley arena (that holds 11,000-12,000). And any QAL DVD would have "QUEEN AND ADAM LAMBERT" on the cover. If we do finally get a DVD, they might just use snippets from tonight's concert... not the whole thing? For people who know about these things, is that possible?---> that a concert DVD might contain bits from various concerts? Not only possible but wouldn't be the first time in Queen's history. Great concept - unfortunately SHITTY result from some REALLY lazy compilers: RARE LIVEThis was released on VHS in 1989 and was a bunch of live clips culled over the years from various sources....it would start a song somewhere and then edit it to go on to a different source...Queen Official has been starting to put it up on the official YT since it's long out of print -- Released so far: Another One Bites The Dust (Live in Buneos Aires 1981 & Vienna 1982) Freddie Improv (Buenos Aires 1981) Love Of My Life (Sao Paolo 1981) Radio Ga Ga (Live in Australia 1985 & Knebworth 1986) BUT with that being said...it's an unlikely way to go. BUT I wouldn't be surprised to see a compilation of say TWO shows...Maybe some tracks from Sydney and some from London and a bonus disc (maybe the iheart pre-tour gig?) I do hope they get at least one version of Love Kills on there somewhere though....AND I would like to see both Days of Our Lives AND A Kind Of Magic....

Before I move on...>I edited in Nevermore to the Seven Seas Of Rhye post as I had forgotten that Extreme had done a brief version during their 2008 tour. Now... Misfire
Talon Entry
John Deacon's first writing credit - it was never performed live by the band. It was covered by an indie artist named Neko Case. A fun little jaunt and by default... VERDICT: Neko Case

I would prefer to have both. I understand you both. And if it was just a little possible, I would gladly do both. But after I tried unsucessfully to stream twice (Vienna and Krakow) I was truly pessimistic I would manage to do it in Krakow. Not that I wouldn't try. But I couldn't even get on Twitter to send a tweet (just managed to send one pic on Instagram). Do I rather decide to record the show and sed it after I got to the Internet (home). I was willing to buy as much datafiles as needed. But it have no effect for the stream. And there wasn't wifi in any of the arena. :( I appreciate any and all attempts to do either but really appreciate the downloadable stream Thanks!
