Just curious as i don't do a lot of twitter - does anyone know whether Rog did both Days and Magic again? Or was it just Magic?

WOW! You know what...you may not know it but you MAY have seen Brian and Roger at that same gig There was a big gig in the UK when Jimi headlined a bill with Pink Floyd and a little lower on the bill was...Smile - Brian and Roger's pre-Queen band. Four amsuing anecdotes from that gig: They met Jimi for the one and only time when he stumbled into them and said...."Where's the stage, man?" Free was also on the bill but somehow billed lower than Smile despite having a hit single! Some of the footage survived and has been seen in Queen documentaries - unfortunately it was silent footage. Finally Smile got their first positive review...athough unnamed - "The loudest band in the western world unplugged and left the stage" No, not the same gig unfortunately. This was 25 November 67. The others on the bill apart from the ones I already named were The Move (big British rock band of the time but not known in the US), Amen Corner (pop group) & 2 other forgotten acts. Jimi played a short set of Sgt Peppers, Fire, Hey Joe, Wind Cries Mary, Purple Haze & Wild Thing. It may have been his second tour though as I just looked it up and the blog indicates the 1st tour was April that year. Actually just realized - squashing my facts together a bit here. 1984 was the band that opened for Jimi/Floyd/Move, etc. 1984 was Brian's pre-Smile band with Smile bassist/vocalist Tim Staffel - and that was on Dec. 23, 1967! So close! Smile didn't open for Jimi but played a date at the Royal Albert Hall which was a few days after Jimi. Sorry for the mistake :D

As I am one of the least 'rawk' fans on this site, Q3 will be jealous pleased to hear that as a very young teen, I actually saw Jimi Hendrix live when he played a gig in my town He was on his first tour in the UK and was on the same bill as Pink Floyd and the Nice (Keith Emerson of ELP was in the line up). The theatre was half empty too! I like Brian's playing because he makes beautiful, harmonious sounds most of the time (not a fan of shredding). WOW! OK just went back in after I remembered about Jeff Scott Soto and Queen Extravaganza! Adam lost one vote on KYA to Jeff Scott but the other verdicts remain the same (including Adam beating both Jeff and Marc Martel ) Moving on...not sure when but soon :D

I just voted for Brian but really only because I like him as a person much more. IMO Jimmy Page is really the better guitarist. When we get to the finals, no matter how much I love Bri, I will have to vote for Jimi Hendrix. I think even Brian will be voting for Jimi. Meh. I disagree there! I like Page, but it always seemed to be he nicked old blues recordings and just updated them. YES he updated them EXTREMELY well and Zep is PHENOMENAL. But I think Brian and his orchestration is far more original and more worthy than Jimmy Page...but to each their own;) As for JimI? Well yeah I don't have an argument there

Nothing at all set in stone...and not much more than we've heard in press accounts...It's all kind of let's see where things go - Adam has A3 to do...and then this jaunt...but Brian seems to want to push ahead in that direction at least. I think Adam is kind of in a one thing at a time trying to keep the side by side thing going takes focusing on one thing at a time.
I have the feeling Rog is a bit hesitant if only due to The Cosmos Rocks...

How can that be if Adam'snew album is coming out in the summer....wouldn't he be promoting his album Adam could easily release his album in the Summer then do something with Q+AL in the Fall. Most of the album promotion will be before the album is released. Plus, they do most of the work well in advance. And a trip to South America + South Africa will only take 2 weeks. ETA: And there are other sources (within Queen "world", not fans) that say they are going to Argentina. Just to add my $.02 this is what I was hearing too. I checked with some connections I have and it was supposed to be all hush hush...My initial source had said October...but my contacts aren't always spot on. It would be a short jaunt. I haven't heard much about South Africa but I would believe Q3 there I did hear a bit about Brian wanting to push some studio work....but it would be filed under one thing at a time and Adam has A3 to do and promotion plus this other QAL jaunt....we'd have to go from there.

I mentioned it while it was happening that there was a bit in there that really reminded me of the impromptu Freddie and the band used to do....Some nice falsetto fooling around there I didn't bring the vid over at the time since it was mid concert and knew no one was going to be watching then

Now I'm Here
Talon Entry
A Queen staple. From the time it was written it was at every Queen gig through their last show with Freddie. It was performed at the Freddie Tribute (not Queen but Def Leppard + Brian May). Brian even played/sang it on his first solo tour and then amazingly it was retired until 2014 with QAL. There were a few other smattering of performances. The Foo Fighters played it with Brian and Roger as well. So we have five entries. Foo Fighters + Brian May + Roger Taylor Def Leppard + Brian May Brian May + Gary Cherone + Nuno Bettencourt + Steve Vai + Joe Satriani Yvan Pedenault & Queen Extravaganza Queen + Adam Lambert Ok so we have our entries. Foo Fighters? I love them. This is a mess though. Dave Grohl is not a great singer...he's a good screamer with limited range...BUT even so? I love watching this cover because it's still fun and the Foos admiration for Queen is legendary. When Roger sits at the kit at the end, displacing Taylor Hawkins, I love watching Taylor just sit down next to the kit and just smile the biggest grin and bob along to the music. Def Leppard - Another good friend of Brian, Joe is a decent enough vocalist, especially on the rockier stuff. This went down well at the tribute concert but something about his voice is off to me...It's not bad, just not great. Gary Cherone - This is from the Guitar Expo 92, which was performed in 1991. Brian was the organizer and set up a ton of guitarists/friends such as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Gary and Nuno from Extreme, Joe Walsh, Paul Rodgers, et. al. Brian sings the first part of the song, and then Gary takes over for the rest. I love Gary. He has a snarl for his rockers which just works. He also has a very angelic voice for ballads (such as More Than Words). Yvan - again the WWRY guy. Eventually QE was pared down to just Marc Martel and Jennifer Espinoza because people really wanted to see Marc. This guy again is not bad...but nothing special. Adam - I've never been shy saying I'm not as big a fan of Adam on the rockier numbers but again he got better as he went along and this one was no exception. He has a handle on the dramatic side of the tune and it works well. VERDICT: Gary Cherone - He's just more convincing on the rockier number to me. (NOTE - I would put Adam at #2)
