I am still waiting for my photo BUT I did get an email asking for my address. There is hope now. I am still trying to get IRS receipt from CW and learned that they were so overwhelmed with donations on Adam's birthday they lost many records. (Of course they lost my from 6 other dates -- hopely the IRS will be fine with my credit card receipts and a copy of their email. This means that I will need to reveal to the IRS that I am an Adam fangirl!! Q3 - love this - yep the IRS officially knows yur a FANGIRL! Haha! ;D

Spent the holiday weekend visiting my parents. They are in their mid-eighties, and technically illiterate, so, no computer access since Friday. I cannot tell you how much I missed all of you wonderful people on Adamtopia. Not gonna comment on "the controversy" of the last couple of days. It would harsh my mellow of getting back to this wonderful forum. I will share one amusing moment from my visit. I try not to go "Adam crazy" with my family, but, they know about my love for Adam and for this community of wonderful ladies and gentlemen. I may have talked up certain aspects of Adam's wonderful voice and legitimate musical background a bit much. My dad plays music via his cable TV's music channels all day long, every day. Easy listening and Singers and Swing music mainly. (I would have to go to my room every once in a while, pull out my iPod, and listen to a couple of Adam tracks to cleanse my palate. ) He commented that he wondered why he hadn't heard my Adam on the music channel. (Along with the likes of Peggy Lee, Perry Como, Andy Williams, etc.) I had to explain that tho Adam has a musical theater background, and has sung ballads, and even light opera, he is gearing his career now to be a pop/rock singer, and hasn't formally recorded music that would be played on that channel (which doesn't play any singers who have recorded since the 1950s). As you may guess, I have played CTMBTM and Feeling Good for my folks, but not anything from the GNT video.... hahaha. They just wouldn't understand my love for Adam as a rawk god or dressed in glitter and rhinestones. But, isn't it good that there is some Adam for everyone? I know we are calling radio stations to get Adam played, but do you think I should contact my dad's favorite channels and request they add Adam to their playlists? Cassie - I love this - why not tweet @nancysinatra - since she plays Adam's music on the show she has on Sirius along with her Daddy's music! She's an Adam fan! Sounds like something your Dad may listen to!

Oh wells. Maybe it's because I don't really identify as part of a group that also includes the person in question, so none of it feels like it relates to me. That is, the person who wrote the controversial twitlonger clearly feels she is part of a group that has earned a certain amount of respect (and maybe it has) that can be compared to the respect due to any single individual in that group. Well, I don't really think of myself, in my relation to Adam, as part of a larger group of "Fans." I just think of how I feel about him, what I appreciate, what I admire, what pleasures he brings me, and then I get excited to come here because there are other people who share my tastes and know what I'm talking about much of the time, but none of you shares my tastes exactly, or is smitten with exactly the same things about Adam that I'm smitten with. (If one of you were to get tweeted by Adam, as with NoAngel, I would feel a thrill because I feel like I kind of know you personally (plus it was an bad-ass question and a bad-ass answer), not because it was props to ATOP in general. When Adam told my lovely neighbor AMW to "get it, GIRL," THAT was a very big personal thrill to me, because she's my good friend and kinda awesome.) Certainly, we don't all express our "fandom" in the same way. I, for one, have bought only one copy of FYE in my life, one copy of AL, and got the copy of GNL only because of the cd--I have never played the dvd because I have a shitty tv and I had the pleasure of watching it once at LindaG23s. I never bought the remixes ep, because I liked only the Brad Walsh one and I downloaded that from iTunes. (Congrats, Spindleshay, on that fab review. Off to check out Brad's new album in a tick.) I have bought no posters, no t-shirts, no calendars, because none of them has tickled my artistic fancy. I have never gifted anyone a copy of Adam's music because, unfortunately, there is no one in my life who would like it the way I do right now (their loss). But I don't waste much time thinking about how these decisions make me fit into the larger world of fandom, how I compare, as a fan, in my dedication, to other fans. It just doesn't seem relevant to me. I don't have that group identity. Perhaps that's why I'm so puzzled by this whole thing. I neither resent the tweet to SR, nor do I feel fond of/grateful to/represented by/impressed by SR's fan-commitment. I certainly don't wish that I had the capability to match her "generosity." I assume, by the way, that Adam knows her personally at this point, so in that sense I don't really think of her, in relation to him, as a "fan" at all, but I haven't spent much energy defining what their relationship is. I don't really care. Personally, I find her form of "charity" a little puzzling, as Adam is surely a very wealthy recipient for such "charity." (It's a little like when I get requests for money from my ivy-league alma mater--why should I put my charitable efforts into supporting rich kids like me?) But I'm sure Dr. R. gives to many other, more desperately needy causes as well, and if this is how she wants to spend her money, that's of course totally up to her. It clearly gives her pleasure and various advantages, all of which I think are perfectly valid. I just don't get how any of it relates to me. See, there, now I went and talked about it all anyway, despite professing not to have an opinion. I guess my lack of opinions are simply annoyingly wordy. Surprise, surprise! : hi midwivespal! I always like your "meta" long thinky posts. I also often feel like I don't "fit" quite well into a group fan identity. Different places adam fans gather online feel comfortable and familiar to me in some ways, alien in others. Ultimately we're all individuals, that have only one thing in common, and it's really amazing that we generally get along as civilly as we do. I love that we are diverse, and if we don't disagree about some things, we wouldn't learn and grow from each other. It's kinda like we are a group of strangers who all got on a boat or bus together, which stops frequently at exciting, interesting destinations that we all love. But the truth is we have spent as much or more time on the bus, with the other people as visiting the marvelous and enchanting sites. As a result we have made some friends we feel close to, had some great times amusing each other, and also occasionally gotten to know rather more than we wished to about other passengers. We have as much history with other fans, as we have with Adam. While we readily share our Adam experiences for all and sundry to enjoy our experiences with each other vary greatly and tend to be much more localized and private. I guess what I'm saying is when there is a big fandom kerfuffle surrounding something fan related, it usually isn't particularly about the specific instance at hand, but about feelings that have been building up due to a mix of personal experiences and divisions within fandom happening beforehand. For instance if Adam had tweeted happy birthday to another fan, there would probably be different feelings and reactions. Just as it is a good idea to assume the best of someone you don't have personal experience with or know about, I also try to remind myself that there is rarely smoke without fire, or that if other fans seem to feel deeply or strongly about something, that I can't automatically assume that they don't have their own valid reasons (maybe ones that they aren't sharing publicly) for those feelings. I might not share the feelings or know the reasons, but I also might want to pause a bit before assuming the worst of them as well. And I agree that Adam (is he the bus driver? I'm lost in my own metaphor) doesn't really need to know about what is going on here in the back. Anyway. So glad Adam is being recognized for his contributions to equality! I hope somebody quietly talks to the facebook people about a few instances recently where they have censored pictures of same-sex kisses, and how that doesn't really jibe with their other good work on behalf of equality. I'm glad to hear about the good things that they have done, it shows that social media can help with shaping society as well as reflecting it. Love this rabbitrabbit!

And also other future Sauli related translations too in magazines, tabloids and such. Link: sauli-news.livejournal.com/EDIT: OMG - this is my thousandth message here . I should probably say HELP but as I know there are plenty of people more talkative on here than me I just say LOL. Thank you so much - from us in the USofA!!

My thought on The Artistsupporter incident. I believe this should have been done privately. Just lost some respect for my favorite singer. Lol. You're kidding, right? After witnessing the quality of Adam's character for two years-- his courage, his talent, his honesty, his kindness, his loyalty to family, friends and fans, his intelligence and his generosity-- all it takes for you is one tweet? Aloha - Thanks for expressing my "take on that also"

What's with the Sherrie Ritchie hate? How many people beg Adam for a tweet on their birthday? People are so damned jealous. It seems everyone loves her when she's gifting albums and tickets. They have short memories. It made me sick to see that mock Twitter account. Me too Pastababy :( >:(
