Hey everybody, guess what I'm going to do this next week-end? I have to go to Texas for a residency (for my MS program) and from the 14-16th I decided to go to Austin (because I've never been there and it's my birthday during the residency). Guess who lives in Austin?? Why, LindaG23 and Juniemoon -- who are going to host me and take me on a sight-seeing tour. We're going to eat barbecue and watch bats among other very cool things!!!! Whoo!!! Can you tell I'm excited? I can't wait to spend time with these amazing women and of course, discuss all things Adam in great detail! I may even take pictures... OMG -- that is SO adorable! LOLOLOL.....

"Adam was receiving the Hope of Los Angeles Award last Thursday. Since Troy was the recipient of the Spirit of Los Angeles Award a couple of years ago we received an invitation to be present at this year's ceremony." (Hope of LA Award May 30 LA City Hall for LGBT Heritage Month) Interesting (to me at least) story about the MCC -- Many years ago now, I toured with a Christian singing group for a summer and we traveled across country and to Eastern Europe. Anyway, after the tour I dated our drummer for a bit, and he invited me to meet his mom at one point and go to her church, since they helped support him during the tour. I said sure, and then he nervously said "my mom's church is the MCC (Metropolitan Community Church)" and then he waited for my response. I just said "cool! I've never been to an MCC congregation before and I've wanted to visit". He visibly relaxed at that point and then told me about his mom -- and her female partner. Now, this was long enough ago that having a lesbian partner in the group we toured with was ... um... pretty much not talked about and/or didn't happen. This leads me to say something about the MCC, which is a protestant mainstream Christian denomination that was started by gay folks who felt unwelcome in other Christian churches and started their own denomination. There are many MCC churches around now, but there weren't too many when I visited way back when with Dave and his mom. They are a devout family who just happen to be gay--and although Dave thought I would probably be accepting, it's sad when I look back that he wasn't sure if I would accept his family. I admire the MCC and the work they do--and it was very cool to see Adam pictured with the pastor a few days ago! Two parts of my history coming together, in a way. The MCC church I went to was in LA, by the way.

Another picture from inside the plane. Sangita Patel @sangita_patel 1h Austria airlines is getting crazy! @lifeball pic.twitter.com/ikbRaovfWGOT, but this photo tells me just how involved I have gotten with RuPaul's Drag Race, as I recognize the three people in the middle of this photo. They are all drag queens who have been on the show. I forget the one on the left, but the middle one (in the yellow hat) is Detox (who was 4th this season) and the hair on the right belongs to Willam (who was on last season and does commentary for Logo). These three have done some funny song parodies that have been posted on Youtube. The most recent is called "Boy is a Bottom" (I don't believe I know these things...heee).
