And prayer in school...Does this mean that we must have the teachings of Jews, Hindus, Buddists, Islamists, agnostics, atheists, astrologists etc. etc. etc.? Because by leaving any out you would be teaching impressionable children that one is more valid than the other. Is that what you are suggesting? I am suggesting that impressionable children be taught that God is Love. In any language, in any religious belief, there is this common truth. Even agnostics and atheists can not deny that Love is powerful and the ultimate force for good. Children especially need to be loved, and to be taught about love and it's power. Prayer is communication with God is Love. When I went to school, every day, before the pledge of alliegence was said, we all recited the Lord's Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses, as we forgive those who tresspass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, and ever. Amen. At that time, and I graduated high school in 1969, most people in this country were Christians, and they went to church, and they worshipped God. Jewish people went to synagogues, and they worshipped God. There were very few Hindus, Buddists, Islamists, atheists, or agnostics in this country. The Lord's Prayer was commonly accepted as the simple standard of faith. Then the atheists came, demanding their right to not be taught about God in school, and they won the fight, in the courts, because of our constitutional separation of church and state. Not that God or Christianity was being taught in school, it was just this one simple, powerful prayer. It is interesting that all sessions of Congress open with a prayer, but it is not allowed in our schools. It has been reduced to "a moment of silence." People have the right to pray, and children should not be prohibited from learning of it's power. My opinion: Those who don't believe that prayer is powerful, and who believe that it is wrong to teach impressionable children about it, are doing a tremendous disservice to them, and to all of us, and to our great society and our great nation. Teaching prayer and any religious beliefts do not belong in public schools, and when I was in public school, these were not taught. But we did say this simple and powerful prayer every morning. It just seems to me, that this society has gone down the tubes slowly, progressively, until we are at the point now of these horrific tragedies, that were not common or frequent until about 20 years ago. This coincides with the first generation raised without prayer. On facebook this morning, I saw the following: Dear God, Why do you allow so much viloence in our schools? signed, concerned student. Dear concerned student: I'm not allowed in schools. signed, God.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
I was horrified by the news today, and mwp is right, there are too many of these types of terrible tragedies. It is scary.
However, the people that do these kinds of things are mentally ill, unbalanced or severely disturbed, or possibly hopped up on drugs. You can find out how to build a bomb on the internet, and you can buy the necessary items at your local farm supply, grocery or hardware store. Should we ban the internet and these common items because of this?
I believe the same idea applies to guns. Did you know that more people are killed in auto accidents than by guns? Why don't we ban automobiles?
I live very near the Mexican border, and the drug cartels are moving in very fast down here. They have plenty of assault rifles. If we don't, how will we protect ourselves? The Border Patrol can't even protect themselves, and are not allowed to shoot these invaders. If they do, they get sent to jail. Recently, in my county 6 illegals broke in to a neighbor's ranch and stole guns and destroyed property. They were caught, and the resulting trial has cost our county almost 1 million dollars in providing them with attorney fees and court costs. We live in an area where there is real danger.
I am NOT in favor of banning assault rifles. The drug cartels have them, the criminals have them, the gangs have them. If they are completely banned, the above mentioned groups will still find ways to get them and use them. Law abiding citizens will not be able to protect themselves, and will be out gunned and unable to defend themselves.
Today I bought an assault rifle for dh for Christmas, he is excited about it, and it is going to be fun to shoot, and we don't plan on using it on anyone. It is, however, also deadly, should we need to protect ourselves out here in this wilderness. And yes, I am a card carrying member of the NRA, and damn proud of it.
The bottom line is that if these guns are banned, the outlaws and crazies will still find them and use them, and good people, like me, will be unable to protect ourselves. These guns are being made and sold, and will continue to be available, and a ban on them will only drive the black market and more criminal activity.
It would be far wiser to take a closer look at the social conditions driving the people that commit these attrocities. This has been coming on now for 50 years, and our society is falling apart. Why?
IMO, it all started when prayer was banned in our schools. Think about it.

Feel like I'm spamming since have never posted twice in a row, but am missing some recent interviews and wonder if someone has YouTube or Soundcloud links. They are ones I have not been able to view/listen to for some reason involving missing plug-ins. ...The Christmas carol interview ...The HK radio one ...Parts 1 and 3 of Teen Time (have pt. 2) Thanks in advance if anyone has links The Christmas carol interview: cbsy98.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/adam-lambert.mp3The HK radio one <-- I don't know what this is? OK, I just now listened to this. What radio station was this? And where did it air? And who are these DJ's? I thought Adam did a great job, and that they kind of ended the interview in an abrupt way. Wonder why Adam did this particular one?

KUDOS To MTV Buzzworthy for picking A & S as a cutest couple!
But, but, but........ There are tons of pics of them that are better, with smiling faces, etc. They do look good, but they are not smiling and looking happy. One of the few pics out there where they aren't glowing.
Also, are all of these people still together? The other ones?

BRAVA! sugaree!I never heard of any of this before! Amazing the things I learn at Atop. Lilith was the name of the the female vampire that appeared and was worshipped on the last season of True Blood. It was interesting. The story line of the blood of the vampire godess was intriguing, and the religion and heritage of the vampires that was put forth on the show, that vampires were the true first species created. I thought it was paralleling many Christian rituals, but maybe it was Jewish? Very, very interesting! Thanks for posting. Impressed with your skilz............fingers must be working better! Keep it up! eta: I will post something on True Blood - Season 5 when I get my google working again. trueblood.wikia.com/wiki/Lilith#
