I´m so lost. Another week in hospital in the middle of Adam Storm, it´s not fair! I have watched the "in the mirror chat" and it was fab even if he looked a bit strange but handsome in a different way. Could anyone give a hint about a special page on ATopia that is more entertaining an exciting than the rest? I don´t know how to get through it all even if I really want to. Scearly, I hope you are feeling better! Tinafea does an amazing job gathering everything together on our News Archive. You can go via this link to the February archives. adamtopia.com/index.cgi?board=newsarchives&action=display&thread=703Gives me an excellent reason to give a shout-out to Tinafea of her wonderful work! You Rock!

OK, now I am going to ask something that will possibly stir a negative reaction, so either skip or keep in mind that I am trying to understand the psychology behind these kind of statements: So, yesterday Adam got annoyed (very rightfully so) at thoughtless remarks he receives...I understand all of it except for these two statements - in bold: That's me. Its not something you should have to look past. Look right at it. It's fabulous. Gay is fierce. Be proud with me!!!!What does this mean? I am trying to relate by saying "being straight is fabulous. Straight is fierce" - how does this sound? Does it make any sense to you? Is it just a super defensive stance? Is it something one says being in the heat of this argument? Am I just over-analyzing everything Adam says? I am more than proud with him and of him! But in this case - my comprehension fails me :-[ Those statements reminded me of what Adam said at the PFLAG event. "It' not so hard. It's fun!" I think in both these statements, Adam is addressing common memes about being gay. People are at various stages and levels of accepting folks who are gay. There are misconceptions at each stage. There is the homophobic/hater stage. But, past that there is the more subtle "You are gay, but I like you anyway." Which still retains the stigma that there is something wrong, defective, or less-than about being gay. Then, there is the sympathy stage: It must be so hard. It must be a sad life. You probably wish you were straight. If you could change your orientation, you would. This stage still contains the underlying assumption that being gay is something, if not WRONG, at least regrettable. An assumption that being gay is a burden one must bear. I work with people who are deaf. Today, outright discrimination or disdain for people with "disabilities" or "handicaps" is unacceptable. But, just the term "disabled" or "handicapped" shows a certain mind set. The deaf people I know do not think of themselves in that light. They do not wish they were born with normal hearing. They are not looking to be "fixed." Not being able to hear is an integral part of their selves. Do they have more difficulty getting jobs, communicating with others, getting equal access to information in our society? Yes. Is it frustrating? At times. But, it doesn't make them or their lives "sad" or "difficult." Everyone has struggles and difficulties in life. You can't avoid them. Deaf couples who have deaf children are not saddened. They are happy that their children will fully share their culture and their language. They will have shared bonds of experience. They are proud of the deaf heritage in their family. I think that Adam is addressing this stage of perception about those who are gay. He enjoys his community, his culture, his traditions and his history as a gay man. These are things that enrich his life. Living as a gay man, openly, is fabulous and fierce. Cassie, excellent analysis! ITA!

Did anyone else see that Chris Brown and Rihanna may "reunite" to perform on American Idol? Sucks! Just saw it on Yahoo news, who says they got it from ENews. Saw it, and haven't stopped disgustedly eyerolling yet. Girl needs some freakin' self-respect. American Idol - that "family show" - needs not to encourage what is *truly* moral dreck (IMO - 'Oh lemme forgive my non-repentent, abusive boyfriend b/c he just won a Grammy and everyone is pressuring me to play nice'). YMMV. >:( I. DON'T. GET. IT. Guy's a douche, will always be. BUT, what's wrong with Rihanna... If she's pressured by the label to do the collabos in the sake of making money, or... she's not over him... :-/ OT - scroll alert. I have a close friend who lived in an abusive relationship for 10 years. He would beat her up so badly that she was on several sick leaves due to broken bones etc. Tried to help her leave him, arranged an apartment for her, moved her things out from their home, sat with her in the evenings to keep her occupied with positive/normal everyday things, her family would help her with financials... Still, she went back to him only after a couple of months. Despite all the reasoning and the support given by her friends and family, she was not convinced, yet. It took her two more years to make up her mind and build a new life for her, from a clean slate, new friends, the works. Luckily, she's now happily married with 4 children and a lovely husband. There was a time I thought the story would have a different ending... When we discussed this she said the man was wonderful when he was sober, gave her presents, boosted her confidence etc. and, promised to be better, that he NEEDED HER in order to make the change. (So basically, to me, he was a narcissistic, manipulative bastard.) She (naively) thought, that she could change him, she would have this amazing power, their love would conquer all. Sadly, it only happens in the movies. I'm not saying that this in any way applies to the story with RiRi & CB, but it baffles me every time when people, especially women, do this over and over again to themselves. Love and strength to RiRi, so that she can have the power to make the right choices, for her.

Gonna disagree on "the sooner the better." BTIKM needs a few more weeks to make Top 20 on HAC and Top 40 on, well, Top 40! Otherwise, it will be labeled as a flop. I think they've got until mid March to work on this. And it is looking good, right now. Agree, they will wait for 2-4 weeks, BTIKM still has the potential to go higher. I also believe they have originally planned to release two singles before the album, which now seems to be the case. I reaaaaaalllly would like it to be an Adam-penned song, but not counting on it. Actually, not knowing what the possibilities are, I'd go with Trespassing. I love both the snippet we've heard from the Austria Snowcase and the Aidan McEwan remix.

A little OT...I so wish Amazon.com would stop assuming that just because I order Adam's music that I would therefore buy anything Idol-related, no matter how heinously crappy or offensive. There are performers showing up on my recommendations that evoke an automatic gag reflex in me, and before noon on a Sunday, that is just wrong. /rant LOL, same here... Adam is the first (and probably the last) idol-related musician I've ever listened to, so having these suggestions alongside The Who, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Evanescence, etc. does seem pretty lame.

NoAngel, The SNOL Chat is my favorite Q&A session, it was a true delight SNOL Chat was my absolute favorite, by a mile. Not only the questions were better than normal, but his answers were great and talk about the facial expressions. How on earth can anyone be so charming, sincere and gorgeous! SNOL got something like 1000 questions, I would not mind if they would keep doing more Q&A sessions at least once a month. I'm gonna send them feedback along those lines. What would be the best reason for them to make it worth their while, any ideas?

NoAngel wrote: The analogy of Adam as Icarus has been attributed to Eber, who purportedly posted on an Idol forum after the AMAs that Adam's "willingness to leap toward the sun is what thrills us about him," and this is true. Only yesterday in the Saturday Night Online chat Adam told us that if he were a mythical creature he'd like to be a dragon and to have the power to fly. I think Adam knows himself better than his father knows him in this case. The fire is in Adam's belly, not in the star towards which he reaches. He flies, not with borrowed wings, but under his own power, fueled by his own passion. If he misses the mark he blames no one but himself and wears his singed wings as a badge of honor. This is why, no matter what happens onstage in July, Adam has already touched the sun. ********* ********* Oh, NoAngel, you are a wonderful writer. This brought tears - happy, I think. That's all I can say... NoAngel.... Beautiful beyond words.
