What she said!!! ^^^^ There is also the flip side. People with formally trained voices generally can't sing authentic sounding pop or rock. Their trained vocal tone is too heavy or dark, or too "operatic" or schmaltzy, and their production of vowels sounds stilted and phony in the pop/rock style. That is one of the things that makes Adam so extraordinary. He has figured out how to keep all the formal technique and training, but modify the sound to work genuinely in pop and rock. I can't think of another singer who has done so so effectively. I have always wondered about this. I would cringe whenever formally trained ppl would sing pop/rock songs as there is a kind of incongruity to the sound - something was out of place. Although, I have also heard ppl saying Adam's voice is too "clean" for certain rock songs. e.g. I love, love his studio rendition of Steven Tyler's "Crying" but when I played it for my nephew, he gave props to Adam but said his voice sounded a bit too trained or clean for that piece. My nephew thought he did a great job, though.

Good morning everyone and happy birthday qtip22!!! It's official. Adam isn't human. I think his spirit animal the wolf (was that what he said?) has taken over. Look at his pupils in the first pic. The one side almost looks like a lightning bolt and the eyes are so green! And in the second he just spotted his prey. Lord help whoever that might be. I know this was from this morning but please bear with me. Doesn't it seem as if Adam has a humongous blow dryer over his hair? No? #okayitisjustmethen Sorry, carry on.... And no, I'm not obsessed...

Hi all. Just a few thoughts on the current topic before I go running off to catch up on the early pages/photos/vids. By the time I type this you'll have probably moved on or gone to bed. But what the heck? I don't get a lot of time to participate these days so here goes...
I have to believe Adam doesn't take himself all that seriously, in terms of collabing with others. I'm taking my cue from the fact he was trained to work with others from a young age, letting other kids sometimes take the lead (although he could probably sing rings around them).
He knows he is good ("I can sing my face off"); is supremely confident; and takes joy in teaming up with others. How freaking excited was he to perform that first duet with Allison?
I like that in my singing stars. I have always loved to hear pairings I would not have dreamt up (before the now prevalent habit of having "stars" collabing/guesting with anyone and everyone who can bring hits).
MJ/Paul McCartney. Patti/Mike McDonald. Aerosmith/RunDMC. Aaron N/Linda Ronstadt. JZ/Linkin Park, etc. ect.... Love it!
As for rap. Like most things, I like some and detest others. I have just as deep an appreciation for the rap I like, as any other musical form. When done well, rap is pure poetry. Words and phrases spoken in meter/pentameter and other rhythmic tones, tailored to beats to tell a story. This is why, to name a few, some of JZ, Eminem, B.o.b and Damian Marley's dancehall style (rap's pre-cursor) are so brilliant. They all have lines and verses in some of their songs that jump out at you for the sheer "wordsmithness" and phraseologies. Pure poetry set to beats.
Sorry if all that did not make much sense. I am typing fast and I'm tired.

I hope they will at least have Lee come out when they announce the winner.
ETA: I meant, he will come out to help crown the winner.
