This will likely quickly get buried but given last thread discussion about Gagas performance I wanted to post as a point for continuing discussion... I'm currently reading the altogether sublime "The Art of Asking" by Amanda Palmer - this passage just jumped out at me: "There's a difference between wanting to be looked at and wanting to be seen. When you are looked at, your eyes can stay blissfully closed. You suck energy, you steal the spotlight. When you are seen, your eyes must be open, as you are seeing and recognizing your witness. You accept energy and you generate energy. You create light. One is exhibitionism, the other is connection..."
Gaga has always struck me as someone who wants to be looked at. David Bowie wanted to be seen. And I think Adam also wants to be seen. Ah... that is a good description of an interesting concept. I don't know about Gaga fitting in one or another category, I really like her. But she often seems to close off the biggest part of herself, just showcasing what she wants the world to see or burying herself under special effects, lights, colors, dancers, costumes. I understand that (hey, I do the same, although not on stage). Sometimes little glimmers of what could be shine through, mostly when she is sitting at the piano singing, stripped back. That is when she gives me goosebumps. I think the thing that makes Adam so unique is that he gives so much of himself on stage. He connects. He puts himself out there. He makes people feel. And he gets the love of the audience in return. I can never get enough of the roar of the audience in some vids. Can't wait to be part of that again!!

Lady Gaga Channels David Bowie’s Theatricality www.vogue.com/13401115/lady-gaga-david-bowie-grammys-2016-performance/?mbid=social_onsite_twitter via @voguemagazine Adam mention..Ever since news broke on January 10 that David Bowie had died from cancer at the age of 69, his fellow musicians have been finding ways to pay their respects. It wasn’t long before tribute shows were announced at New York City’s Carnegie Hall in late March and Radio City Music Hall in early April, with artists like Michael Stipe, Ann Wilson, and Cat Power slated to perform. Back in January, Bruce Springsteen paid homage with a rendition of “Rebel Rebel.” Last week The Flaming Lips, playing in Aspen, performed an eight-song Bowie set, including covers of “Space Oddity,” “Ziggy Stardust,” and “Ashes to Ashes.” Clive Davis’s annual pre-Grammy gala last night featured not one but two dedications to the late visionary: Adam Lambert and Jack Antonoff took on “Let’s Dance,” and Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselić, Pat Smear, and Beck teamed up to reprise Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold The World.”

It will take time..but I see 5,000,000, IMHO ,very respectable . Hopefully before next single comes out. Although I'm chopping at the bit for what's next. Adam does David Bowie like no other... The Grammys seemed endless to me,ready to pull my hair out.. I went to sleep after Gaga. What I liked.... Kendrick Lamar and I don't like rap,was IMHO Brilliant.. Did anyone else think of the Beat poets.. poetry/social commentary with Jazz. An aside.. I'm beginning to think the Grammys need Adam, like Queen needs Adam to give the band new life.Adam seems to light up everything he touches..I think the Grammys need the Adam touch.
