Bowie, through all his incarnations, was a class act. I saw an earlier interview right after his death and he just exuded a quiet charm. Last night Gaga reduced his music and persona to a bad Elvis impersonator level and left me with "what was she thinking"! The person I feel bad for is Niles. He had to suffer through her performance and then not have his name mentioned when whoever it was was talking about funk, at the end of the show. I was no longer paying attention and was lunging for the remote before PB made it to the stage. I lied...still here...client late...now I love Bowie as much as the next but he had his weird moments too.... I've seen, I think, the full interview of that, and he is quite edgy throughout it...I recently learnt he only drank milk during that period, bc he couldn't stomach food...

He's been using the kleenex quite a lot recently, hasn't he..? Probably old and clueless. What do you mean by using the Kleenex?

This will likely quickly get buried but given last thread discussion about Gagas performance I wanted to post as a point for continuing discussion... I'm currently reading the altogether sublime "The Art of Asking" by Amanda Palmer - this passage just jumped out at me: "There's a difference between wanting to be looked at and wanting to be seen. When you are looked at, your eyes can stay blissfully closed. You suck energy, you steal the spotlight. When you are seen, your eyes must be open, as you are seeing and recognizing your witness. You accept energy and you generate energy. You create light. One is exhibitionism, the other is connection..."
Gaga has always struck me as someone who wants to be looked at. David Bowie wanted to be seen. And I think Adam also wants to be seen. Very enlightening, thank you. After watching the Gaga performance on YT last night, I felt quite a "disconnect" and no need to go back. I think she was quite the "exhibitionist" last night, which was probably the goal, but I was missing something. I guess there's no need to elaborate how I feel when Adam performs...

My dad who hates anyone fronting Queen. Loves Adam with Queen. Big bowie fan too haha. His career trajectory wont be the normal straight to megastardom. Big hits etc. But its one I believe well have longevity. He well make q cultural impact. On Lgbts, the same way Mj did with African American artist's. My DH asked me last night, in more of a cheeky way, how much I really wanted for and from Adam. My answer was that he may never win a Grammy, but that I see him receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award.

More thoughts on Gaga performance. Since I've only stanned one musician I have to bring it back to him. This Gaga/Bowie performance was most like Adam's FYE AMAs performance. Both were overstaged, overthought, over wrought, over caricaturized, over hyped.
I don't know that at award shows if anyone is safe from trying to be over the top and even our Adam the last time he did an award show tribute - EMAs with Queen was over the top and trying to hard. That's why things didn't "click" until the Ihearts.

It will take time..but I see 5,000,000, IMHO ,very respectable . Hopefully before next single comes out. Although I'm chopping at the bit for what's next. Adam does David Bowie like no other... The Grammys seemed endless to me,ready to pull my hair out.. I went to sleep after Gaga. What I liked.... Kendrick Lamar and I don't like rap,was IMHO Brilliant.. Did anyone else think of the Beat poets.. poetry/social commentary with Jazz. An aside.. I'm beginning to think the Grammys need Adam, like Queen needs Adam to give the band new life.Adam seems to light up everything he touches..I think the Grammys need the Adam touch. "Adam seems to light up everything he touches..I think the Grammys need the Adam touch" .... perfectly said. Another opportunity missed last night. But there's hope and Adam's performance the night before must have been magical. Read more: adamtopia.com/thread/3606/16-15-adam-news-info?page=3#ixzz40MXdM1Yi
