Interesting perspective from someone who attended the show in Boston.. Adam Lambert & The Authenticity of Queer Identity (Concert Review)
So I wanted to write a review of the Adam Lambert concert tonight at the House of Blues in Boston, but it being me, I can’t merely write about Adam Lambert without writing about American culture, identity, the music industry, David Bowie, subcultures, queerness, and capitalism. Because I couldn’t talk about the songs or the performance without writing about the context in which they’re being presented, and I had to try to answer the question of why such a fantastic concert is being seen by so few people in the United States. More.. blog.ceciliatan.com/archives/2776That's really a wonderful, interesting and detailed review... And I actually share a lot of the thoughts here. Definitely worth a read

Definitely worth a read We differ on this article... IMHO,It's all about how much the writer knows about the music scene past and present.. I think she wants folks to explain Adam for clicks.. How I see Adam's tour.Adam hasn't been a BIG presence in America in the last few years. A great deal of his touring has been with Queen and much has been as a world wide star. In a way I see this U.S. tour as here I am I'm back from touring the world.I think Adam will always be a bit left of center in American pop stardom. He's unique, He can sing any genre and sing most songs better than the original singers..I think he will always appeal to a certain population and therefore may never reach the heights of U.S. fandom..He's kind of like a character actor.. who never gets the lead roles ,but endures and has longevity. IMO that's pretty good.

I very rarely disagree with you, milliemom, but this is one of those times . Like augenpoesie I found this blog to be the most interesting and thought provoking review I've EVER read about not only Adam's concert but his career! Her exploration of the "lack of popularity in the USA" conundrum is of most interest to me and I believe to many of us here. I agree she seems to be very familiar with the music scene past and present! And that's exactly why she is able to put forward quite a respectable "theory" on the subject imo.

She does have this disclaimer at the end.. [Caveat: I really haven’t had a chance to thoroughly research all of Adam Lambert’s career, and I’m not completely versed in the current state of the music business. So I welcome updates, comments, links to further reading, and corrections. Yes, please give me an excuse to read more about Adam Lambert…]
