Boring song either way but I prefer Brian and Kerry I quite agree the song is boring ...to me...and I never quite got how some people love it but that is the beauty of being sentient beings isn't it. That said, I do tend to prefer Adam's version. Kerry sings it straight up and lets Brian do the fun stuff where Adam does not have to do that so he plays. Kerry is a really good singer though.... Different strokes for different folks. This is one of my favorite pre-Idol performances by Adam. His tone is so light, pure and yet rich. I love his phrasing and his additions to the basic melody line. He is such a great song interpreter, and I hear real emotion and arc in his performance. Technically he is very strong, even at the tender age of 25. Kerry has a very nice voice, but it is not anything extraordinary to my ears. Nothing that makes me perk up and take notice beyond saying, "Oh, she has a nice voice. Well sung." I agree she doesn't do much with the song emotionally or melodically. Like Mad World, actually, this song is meloncholy and has limited range in the melody. I can see that it could sound boring to some, especially if the vocalist doesn't give it any twists or build an arc to it. However, Brian's guitar interlude is gorgeous. Very sensitive. I am used to him playing a wailing electric guitar, and this shows a different side of his artistry.

WELCOME Jason! A very nice find! hard to compare for me... Dr. Bri conjures some incredible sounds out of his acoustic guitar - I am always mesmerized by his playing... the singing side - for me Adam's delivery is magical... I am afraid to breath when I listen to this... idk...painfully beautiful...

Definitely different strokes for different folks... when I heard Adam singing that song I immediately thought how much I would love to hear him sing this song again or something similar :-) So beautiful to me.

Re Dust in the wind, I am a BIG Kansas fan, so I am quite biased. I just love this song, not one second boring In this case I prefer the original, because I love Steve Walsh and his voice is perfect for progrock. But if I would have to chose between Kerri and Adam, it would be very clearly Adam, although I like Kerris voice very much!!! He just has this warmth in his tone...

Both great versions but for very different reasons. Brian and Kerry's is very much a Brian May guitar piece with some nice vocal work sprinkled in. Adam's is totally vocal based with a minimal piano accompaniment. Which do I prefer? Clearly for me, the vocal based version of Adam's.
