I'm glad today is almost over. Atop discussing swear words, DH wanting to argue politics, Cousin calling from Texas wanting to discuss politics and even my little local jewelry store man telling me one candidate is a buffoon and the other should be in jail and I should downsize so I can move quickly when they come to get us. Theo? Are the planets aligned in a an angry circle today? Thank you Adam for new music. Think we can buy from Itunes tomorrow and since the single will be out will he or will he not sing it tomorrow? The planets are bonkers! Pluto's revenge!!!

Spokane has really been on the Adam bandwagon. They even played the heck out of ALN. Now let's hope the love migrates westward over the Cascades to damned Seattle! This is my local station! They had a contest for a trip to Denver to see Adam with a M&G, needless to say I didn't win *cries forever* He should add a tour stop in Spokane!

Yes, Spokane loves Adam! And it is a college town so very good for building his fanbase! I used to live in Spokane. Loved it but it is not a college town. Washington State University is in Pullman about 75 miles away. There are a couple small colleges there and Gonzaga University -- but that is a relatively small university -- 7,400 students. The big employers are health systems and the aluminum industry. Boeing used to be the biggest employer in Spokane but they sold the plant and eliminated the jobs.

It seems ironic that some Adam fans wildly applaud Adam's speech on embracing diversity and coming together over our love of music. At the same time, they get bent out of shape about him uttering a word that is commonly used within his culture but considered offensive by some others. They get offended by a snarky, brief extemporaneous comment about republicans. Am I the only one who sees the hypocrisy? As much as we say we adore Adam and think he is perfect, I think we sometimes hold him up to standards far greater than those we expect from friends, co-workers and family members. Far greater than those we live ourselves. A few fans take a step further and actually lecture him or chastise him for making choices THEY think are unwise, unethical, or unattractive. If someone they KNEW did the same to them, they would be outraged at the hubris. just sayin' I try my best not to judge Adam. Why? Because I have seen enough of his actions to know that he has amazing character. There's that saying "Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking". I remember when I found out years later that he visited a young, dying girl in a hospital, I believe it was while he was on the Idol tour. She has since passed away. I remember reading on some blog (not mainstream news site) that he donated $7-8K to Amnesty International. These are things he did really early in his career that were not publicized. One of the first things he bought was a house for his mother, not for himself. He gave his friends and family jobs. He took Alison under his wing and if I recall correctly, he offered her a place to stay. He started getting involved with charities really early in his career when he was not making millions as he is now. And to this day, look how much he donates his time and money for charities. Sometimes it's just the little things. I remember stalking him outside my local radio station as I didn't have tickets. He said "Wait here and let me see if I can get you in". He couldn't but I thought to myself, who would do that? And we all know that he is constantly pimping other artists without expecting and rarely getting anything in return. So if he says an unacceptable word, or wears fur, puts his foot in his mouth occasionally, I don't really care because I think he's a better human being than most of the people I know.
Perfectly said! If the things I sometimes say privately (oven semi-privately) were posted on the Internet, I'd come across as pretty crass or rude. But those moments are few and far between and are certainly not typical of my whole self. You've given great examples of the Adam, both public and private, that we have come to know the past six+ years. I believe his positive attributes far outweigh his occasional slips, most of them not intended to be heard by the world at large. We've come to know him as a decent, kind, honest person. Does he have strong opinions, on and off the stage? Does he use vulgar language at times? Is he a human being whose life is scrutinized almost every hour of every day? YES YES YES. The C word isn't pretty, but it's more common in certain groups than others. The context is important to consider. I believe that in the place and situation he said it, it wasn't that big a deal.
