Unfortunately I don’t have time to write a longer recap at the moment
but at least I quickly wanted to log in to thank you
… my dear Nic42, Skaschep, Mireille and Augenpoesie … for your wonderful and detailed recaps and for your kind words!
It was such a pleasure for Ralf and me to meet (almost) everyone from our
“Amsterdam-crew” again and to finally get to know the sweet
Augenpoesie! We all had so much fun together on the day after the concert
and with
Skaschep also already on the evening before the concert (where we also saw Rufus, Leah and the crew)!
So sad that our dear
Freakydeaky couldn’t be there with us, you were missed, girl!!!
Yes, we also spent five wonderful days in Cologne, it was almost already like a short summer vacation because the weather was so warm and sunny all the time (except for the four hours during the concert, haha!!!)
. There was not only the concert but also the Handball-Championsleague finale in Cologne last weekend (the team of our hometown Kiel was also there and so we saw/met many other people from Kiel in Cologne, lol!) and so the whole city was full of people who were walking around in the historic city center (were also our hotel was located) and sitting at the Rhine or in the street-cafes and on the terraces of the many typical little old restaurants and breweries until late at night! Of course we also did some sightseeing every day and we enjoyed sitting outside the cafes in the sun and taking lots of pictures of the ancient Cologne houses and churches!
The concert was of course also great!
(… despite the horrible weather, the bad sound especially at the beginning and our expensive seats which had such a bad view that we voluntarily changed them for other seats far away from the stage in the back of the stadium)! Queen and Adam were fantastic but of course I didn’t see much from the back of the stadium
, fortunately they had those big screens, otherwise I would have completely missed many of the funny faces that Adam pulled or the things that Adam did on stage!
A positive thing was that on the tribune where we ended up, we were surrounded by great people (mostly couples or men of our age or older, I think most of them were long-time Queen fans!)! As soon as the show began, everyone around us immediately jumped up and then they danced and clapped and sang along and cheered through the whole concert, so the atmosphere around us and in the whole stadium in general was really great from the beginning until the end!
We had a roof above our tribune, so we stayed dry until the end of the concert but then we had to go a few hundred meters to the tram-station and also from the station to the hotel again after the tram-ride, so when we finally arrived at our hotel, we were also soaked to the bone!!!
After drying our hair and changing our clothes, when we sat in our hotel-bar for some after-show drinks, of course the rain stopped again and within a short time everything outside looked as if nothing had happened before, haha!
All in all I have to admit that I don’t like stadium concerts so much
, I would always prefer the two Queenbert concerts that we saw in the big indoor-arenas in Cologne and Hamburg last year. The sound was much better in the hall, and the stage was more open to the sides last year, so that also the people on the side tribunes could see everyone/everything on stage well! Besides in the hall it’s dark from the beginning, so that the light-show is much more effective and of course you don’t have to worry about the weather! But of course this Queenbert-concert in the stadium was also absolutely awesome and despite everything a wonderful experience that I don’t want to miss!
Nicole, Skaschep and Augenpoesie, we already uploaded our photos to our computer, unfortunately I don't have much time today
but I will send some pics to you soon-ish!
And
Skaschep, if you PM me your address we will send the newspaper to you in the next days!
