OT, but interesting (mods delete please if too OT, I understand) www.bbc.com/culture/story/20160629-claude-cahun-the-trans-artist-years-ahead-of-her-time Claude Cahun was a transgender artist, years ahead of her time. You may never have heard of her – but her work has never been more relevant, writes Aindrea Emelife. "Cahun described herself as ‘neuter’, putting herself outside the usual categories of gender. Her adopted name helped: Claude is one of the few names in French that can be used for women and men with the same spelling and pronunciation. But Cahun is often considered through a transgender lens, as a biologically born woman who portrayed and embodied the tropes of conventional masculinity. In her autobiography, Disavowals, she wrote: “Shuffle the cards. Masculine? Feminine? It depends on the situation. Neuter is the only gender that always suits me.” Even though she was adamant about eschewing labels and categories, it is difficult to separate her life from her art, which was so centred around the idea of identity." And the thing that caught my eye: Cahun’s 1928 photograph What Do You Want From Me uses multiple exposures to raise questions about identity

Ah, those snippets of information coming from the XFactor auditions... Can you imagine being seated right behind Adam? Being able to look at him, listen to him, study him for 5 hours? Having 'little conversations', taking a selfie, maybe a hug?? I can!! I hear the some worldwide hotshot producer of the Voice is Dutch. Maybe we should start a little campain.

The Voice is a Dutch invention from Endemol so you would think The Voice in the Netherlands is the place to be. Actually I have been thinking about how cool it would be if Adam would judge such a thing here in the Netherlands, but also concluded it would be a very long shot. The main objective would be that he doesn't speak Dutch and even though most people in the Netherlands do speak English that would be a problem for some. The other might be that everyone would choose him! Or I would at least. I saw by the way that our Dutch soccer team was posted in the thread from yesterday! Orange is our national color for sport events and celebration so he's very welcome to sport that Orange jacket here if he wants! He'll fit right in!

Too funny! I can't believe it got there so fast. I did choose the fastest mailing option. And no, I didn't tell him I was sending it. He's our bff from Wales and came to London to see QAL with us in 2012 and has been down twice since to see QAL and TOH with bamafan and sandysva.

Adam has truly ruined me for other singers when I listen to a perfectly good rendition of Somebody to Love and think "meh it was ok"... LOL I was actually at the taping of this particular AGT! Could not figure out why he got a standing "O!" Yes, it was good, that I recognized. He deserved to go thru to the next round. But having seen STL live many times, it is hard not to compare it to Adam's. There are so many covers where I prefer Adam's version now, even over the originals. Rihanna's "Stay" is a perfect example for me!

Rihanna's "Stay" is a perfect example for me! Yes, I almost can't listen to a vocalist without a voice in my head whispering , "Pretty good, but Adam would be/did it better." There are still a few exceptions for me -- but they ate getting more rare. Yesterday, I was shopping and a The Who song started playing and all I could think was "Adam would sing it better." Perhaps I need an intervention.
