Adam lost a big chunk of his fans since 2009. Why do you think that is? People fall in love - people fall out of love. {shrug} Why do you say Adam lost a big chunk of fans since 2009, how would you know? We know he lost fans after the AMA's but his popularity world wide seems huge!! It's to be expected that the casual fan may lose interest because he's away so much but his die hard fans are still with him. Many AI alums come off that show with a healthy "bubble" of fans for a while. But within a year or even a few months, those fans have slipped down to just a few. Adam is different. His fan base has remained strong, even after that initial AI bubble. His international fan base is very strong, IMO. He has a healthy Twitter and Facebook following, esp. compared to most other AI alums. He's making tons of money. Yes, casual fans fade away, but Adam has an incredibly loyal core of fans who are with him for the long haul. And we're active, too. We vote and view and post and stream. Even after all these years since AI, Adam is still talked about world-wide and appears in articles and magazines and polls and videos and talk shows in many countries. I think he's moving forward very nicely. I'd rather have him enjoy a long steady career than a short one that spikes and then fades completely. He has gained fans through Queen, too, of course and that has helped his solo career. He's getting a little more badly needed US exposure soon with that Greatest Hits show and RHPS. Hope he does show up at Comic Con. It's BIG!

As soon as I saw that deck railing, I thought "Alison's house" -- which means I am a pretty invested fan, ha!
I really like what you said, LindaG, about marriage being equated to fandom. I agree that people often have unrealistic expectations of others in a variety of situations and then become disenchanted when those people don't live up to the fans expectations. Just like in a marriage, you can't expect someone to become a different person or have the same expectations you do just because you want them to. My little sermon of the night from years of counseling couples pre-marriage as a pastor. Uff-da.

If they're all decide to sue, I think the candidate will put the blame to campaign manager/organizer. Well, I'm still pretty confused, but it looks like people CAN use the artists' songs without their explicit permission. This "blanket" permission must be the general rule, I guess. The artist can ask the user to stop, but apparently the user doesn't really have to if he doesn't want to? Is that it? Seems like many singers/bands, etc. have gotten people to stop using their song, even though it wasn't technically illegal for them to use it. Still kind of unclear to me. I wonder if HeWhoCannot amed will use WATC again or if he's gotten the message that he "shouldn't?" It is interesting. The blanket license fr om BMI is good for using the song during an event but not for recording and using in advertising or publishing it from what I gather. So if indeed there was a blanket license obtained the use at the convention might be technically legal. To record and use for advertising does require specific permission from the copyright holders. The videos are on the GOP's youtube ... Is that considered advertising? ? IDK
