It was somewhere in Germany during the GNT, I think during Strut. When he came back on after the song ended he apologized and said he'd had a coughing fit! He he also had the monitor fail at the start of the Madonna song on the Divas show. He wasn't as off key as during that GNT one, but enough to be noticeable, but he soldiered on and as soon as he got the sound back he immediately hit his stride. And despite an initial panicked sort of look to the sound guy, he didn't make a big deal out of it. i think the reason, or a reason, Mariah was ridiculed for this is that she now has such a reputation as a diva, she obviously lip syncs at least sometimes, and it seems she can't consistently hit the notes she became famous for. Yup, that was what stuck in my memory, too. Somewhere in Europe, and during Strut, but I was not sure. You are also right about the fail during the Madonna number. It must be a performer's worst nightmare, sort of like the nightmare many of us have had about showing up naked somewhere, or showing up for a test in school not having attended the classes or studied. I think the disaster was compounded by the fact that Mariah was lip syncing at least part of the performance. The backing track continuing on exposed how much of her "live" performance wasn't. Still, if I did not know all about ear monitors from Adam, I would have assumed she was screwing up and acting the diva. But, given the circumstances, I have to give the girl a pass on this one. Here is an interesting opinion piece. www.cnn.com/2017/01/01/opinions/mariah-carey-meltdown-opinion-robbins/index.html I think this article is spot on. Mariah did everything she should have except for the last suggestion made in the article. ABC should have been able to fix the audio issues within at least half a song and it lasted over several songs and was never fixed. That was not Mariah's fault. That was a technology breakdown and ABC's fault for not having contingency plans in place for technological issues. My very amateur belly dance troupe has performed several times when we have had audio issues. One time we were on a stage with no on stage monitors, only monitors at the front of the stage pointed out to the audience. We could not hear our music and you can't dance in time to the music if you can't hear. We had to stop at the beginning several times and ask them to turn the audio up louder, but finally they said if they turn it up louder than it would be too loud for the audience. Bad planning from the event, but it was an amateur fundraiser. Our performance was really off.

I know this is the wrong thing to worry about but how heavy are those chandeliers?...how the hell do you instal them?^^ Electrically they would probably install like any light fixture, but because of their weight you would need a cross-brace between the joists for support much as you would for a fan but on steroids. Also the fixture itself would probably have heavy duty connectors like lag bolts. I'm just guessing, but if Adam wants me to come install another chandelier for him, I promise to carefully read the instructions. :D
