I live in the progressive South but there has never been a lot of radio support for Adam in my area. It has been anemic at best. It seems I am always waiting for things to kick in for him here. I had high hopes for this era 4 album, thinking this will be the one. XFAU judge, Queen frontman, tv shows certain that they would carry some weight. But reading the comments today I should not expect to see any change. In fact, I'll probably get even less of him with this political climate. My depression continues and I'll have to live the good tru y'all (who enjoy better results) and hopefully see him on tv.

Hey guys----Adam is just being Adam. And in his latest posts/ images, he's honoring one of his idols. No need to philosophize. By the way, I guess many of you realize that January 8th was Elvis' birthday too. He would have been 82!!!! Adam sure has sexy lips!

It's just a stigma. Their is a stigma with Males wearing makeup. You don't see SS doing it. But then again he's more safe I suspose. But you know the world Doesent need another Sam Smith or Josh Groban. They are normal and boring lol. Attributes I would never use to describe Adam. So that look msybe polarizing to ALOT of straight males. But I don't think it's fair, and not accusing anyone here. But fair to label straight males as one type. I'm a straight male. And I was like rock n roll!! I diddnt think instantly gay. I thought David Bowie lol. I guess I don't have any hang ups about alternate lifestyles. Yep stigma exists on many fronts. Men and makeup women and hairy legs and armpits... just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. If you are outside the "accepted norm" then likely you'll get flack. But really most care way too much what others think. I have long wavy gray hair - not long bob long, but well down my back long. I have lost count of the number of times it has been suggested that I should cut it or dye it or both. That it is somehow unseemly for me to have long flowing GRAY (gasp) locks. Fuck em I love it and suspect Adam equally loves slathering on glam. #nofucksgiven

I know I'm pushing the boundaries of OT, but since the discussion here has been the speculation of what direction Adam may take this year, including possibly some political action, I submit Meryl Streep's comments at the Golden Globes tonight: I bow to MS. Bravo.

Bravo. Meryl gave a wonderful speech. I loved every world of it. And, of course, HeWhoCannot amed replied with a rude, crude, crass tweet. I think the most important thing Meryl said is that the legitimate press/media MUST be more vigilant than ever in calling out our politicians when they are dishonest, misleading or intentionally cruel. The legitimate, truth-seeking press is how we demand and get honesty from out leaders. The next four years are going to be a bumpy ride.

I love Adam's red lips, blue suit tribute to David Bowie!! He loojs good! And the FYE album cover has been my favourite of Adam's cover art. I had the picturecas my PC screen background for a long time. All this talk about gender norms reminds me of the strong gender typing when I was in secondary school in the 70's. I was half way through 9th grade before females won the right to wear pants to school. And don't even get me started on how females had to fight to be given the same opportunities in math and science given to males. The female high school and college students I've had as interns in the last 15 years have not been subject to this kind of gender bias. We've come a long way in allowing women to be themselves in areas that were traditionally considered the domain on men. But men still have a long way to go to gain the same freedom to be themselves in areas considered traditionally female. So glad that Adam feels comfortable with his feminine side!! Amen to this. Share similar experiences with you, even though probably a few years behind you. Both in Germany as well as in US. --------- I am not sure though that it is a question for Adam of feeling comfortable with his female side, but rather that he feels a need to fight for and protect his female side. Maybe I am projecting my own thoughts on him here, that is quite possible, but that is how I felt in reverse. Whenever I got the direct or sometimes indirect request to behave more 'girly', to try to fit the norms a bit more, my instincts never really made me question what I felt, it made me question the sanity of the world surrounding me. I learned that while my more male side was not only the 'bread-winner' and was respected, at the same time, the world sent me the message that I had to hide that side. Which is utterly absurd. Just that the folks making this demand on me were unaware of that. And occasionally, that 'male' side needed to be protected, from within or from outside. That happened too. I am seeing similar mechanisms in Adam too. Just that he does all this publicly and as an artist, which makes all this so much braver than I ever had to be. And yes, I agree, that for men showing their female side, is still much harder and the rejection of that is far more wide-spread, especially in the US. Thank goodness the UK made it a bit easier and allowed somebody like Boy George to be celebrated, when the US was still totally unable to deal with that. I'm also glad he is still around, and Elton John, even though he is far less demonstratively proudly out. Kind of like Ricki Martin, who is out, because that his how things went in life, but for the most part more private about it. Neither of them is party or club kid or ever was, as far as I can tell. Then there is of course also Madonna, who fought her own gender norms and the battles that resulted from it, and proudly walked forward. Thanks that she is there too, I suppose. So, there are still a few around that share Adam's battles in some ways. But many important ones are not. Adam's fluid sexual persona is one of the many things I love about him. He's not going to go around in bright red lipstick all the time. But he has no problem with putting it on as an homage to Bowie. He's honest and true and fearless about it. I understand how some Instagram followers can't handle it. Me being an Adam fan is a "big picture" thing. The whole Adam. Small, short-term incidents don't bother me. They will come and go. I adore Adam in a big way, the huge sweep of his talent and personality. He will always be out and proud, lipstick or no lipstick, make-up or no make-up. BTW, Meryl Streep's speech was wonderful. Could reflect itself in Adam's new music in some way. We're moving into a major political upheaval in a few weeks.

Adam has great success around the world so he'll be fine

Yeah, did that as a senior in high school, never again. Save

Look I'm not sure why your putting words in my mouth. I never said aids is funny. So please do not presume things, to the contrary. And make assumptions about me thank you. My lol was to the comments I read on his ig page. I am not putting words in your mouth. Nor would I do that to anyone here. It is how you wrote it that gave me great pause. One does have a responsibility to write as clearly as possible on the internet. Many innocent comments are misconstrued. It happens a lot. People get angry with other people because tone and real intentions do not come across well. I am not presuming or making assumptions. Punctuation would have avoided this. IMO, the English language, that you are posting in should be as closely respected as possible. There was absolutely no way that I, and maybe anyone else, knew that your "lol" was in regards to comments on his IG page. None. If you said it was, that would have resulted in a totally different comment by me. I think that as members of this forum we have the responsibility to think the best of each other and to assume until proven otherwise that a regular poster has the best of intentions. I also think it's perfectly ok to ask for clarification as we have many members for whom English is not their first language, and even when it is then idioms in different countries and even different regions in one country can cause confusion. If I remember right they wear sleds on their heads in Alabama? Save
