I think Adam stated that he didn't/doesn't have the patience it takes to learn an instrument. About singing I think he said he put work into it but it did come along nicely, more easily or something along those lines. I would like to talk about Adams guitarists. What I've realized but maybe I'm totally off, I might have to watch a couple videos just for THAT reason. Playing with Brian May, and Tommy Joe Ratliff Adam reacts to the guitar, he really feels it. It's like he's having sex with the guitar riffs. ( I hope this doesn't come over inappropriate) I kind of missed that with Adam Ross. I shows a bit in the solo during Lucy but not much else. I just want someone for Adam that can "rock his socks" *lol* Am I totally off or what do others think? I think you are saying that you like for there to be good chemistry/interaction between Adam and his band members. Me too. I like seeing them all have fun.

If you don't mind my asking... For those of you with Super Seats at the Hollywood Bowl (J1, H, or G1), can you tell me how you purchased them? Fan club presale, other presale, or general sale? Just curious as I tried all of these methods and was unsuccessful. How did you do it? (Info for next time around... ) Lucky timing. There was a lot of demand for tickets at this show. I think they may add a second who in LA. They have an extra day there and the venue is available. Fingers crossed!! ^^^^^ New thread is up.

Adam did say that he didn't have the patience it takes to learn and instrument -- but I have always be skeptical of that. In 2011, Adam said he can't read music. I doubt Adam has learned how to read music since 2011. During the GNTour Neil said that Adam cannot play music by ear. Adam also said Neil can play piano by ear but he (Adam) could not. So to play an instrument Adam would have to learn to read music. I think that might be really hard for him. Lot's of vocalists and singer-songwriters can't read music -- one that comes to mind is Taylor Swift.

Garden and Terrace seats were more expensive, not centered, and I only needed to buy one. I didn't know what a super seat was, only that it was right in the center with a good view of the stage. Lucky to get it, as most of the seats in this section are now gone.

Just curious as I tried all of these methods and was unsuccessful. How did you do it? (Info for next time around... ) Hi wendyness---I was traveling on the day of the presale, so was unable to do any ticket buying. My son purchased the Superseats for us, from the adam fanclub presale as soon as it started at 10 AM last Tuesday. I told him the exact seats I wanted and he was lucky enough to get them because they were "unavailable" seconds after the presale started. I've been to the Hollywood Bowl many times and knew these were great seats. It seem like you were able to get ones you wanted, too, so I'm happy for you. And, as many have said, there will probably be another date added at the Hollywood Bowl. It really seems to be a matter of luck and perseverance with all this ticket buying. No more stress times for me because I've learned that there are always tickets available---and actually, just being within hearing range of Adam's voice---in a LIVE performance is an incredible, remarkable,"out of this world," magical experience ----and each time I'm fortunate enough to be part of it, I have to pinch myself to make sure it's real---and in the case of this beautiful, outdoor venue, I'll be glancing up to the stars in JOY and gratitude!

Adam has an excellent musical ear. That's why he never misses a note. He can just hear it and feel it when it's right. I'm sure he could pick out a tune on the piano if he wanted to, and I'm sure he has. He's just not the type of take structured lessons. He's kind f a free-wheeler who finds it hard to handle structure. At least that's what I see in him. I truly can't see him learning to play the guitar and perform with it. It just doesn't suit him, IMO. It would it would distract from his stage persona. And just look kinda weird, IMO. Like I said on the other thread, kind of like a gazelle playing a tuba.

Kind of agree with you girldrummer, but also disagree. Adam performs from a very instinctual place, and we saw that even holding a Tambourine in his hand can throw him completely off during performing. He climbs into a kind of zone that is this package and has worked and performed as this package for almost 30 years now. So, I totally agree that I never would expect to see Adam with a guitar or piano or other instrument on stage. Having said that, there is a second element and that is song-writing. If Adam were able to ground himself in an instrument, it would help him, imo. The way it works, Adam now has to always relay his ideas verbally or vocally to somebody else and then live with what comes out of that process. I know this will piss off some people here, but I don't think the world would have ever gotten a Bohemian Rhapsody, if Freddie had to translate all he was thinking or feeling to somebody playing or writing down the song. Too much would have gotten lost in translation. Or would have just been rejected, because in a work as a team approach the other side gets to have a say too. Often for the better, but not always. Adam tends to find himself a rhythm/beat/baseline that he finds interesting, and then he and others write to it. It works for him, but it is not the same. Sometimes he has some lyrics or something else to start and goes on from there. I don't think that Adam cannot learn to read music, you can learn this in a day if you really want to, or that he cannot learn an instrument. He does not really want to, because he has to concentrate on the grasping of the instrument and that takes him away from that organic place, that he comes from when he sings. The issue is, that Adam never overcame that barrier, where he was using the instrument just instinctually, and where he doesn't have to think about it anymore. Kind of like driving a car. Initially we don't know how we will get all the things sorted out that we need to think about at one given moment, and yet, a year later, the car starts 'driving itself' and we can spend our time working through our daily schedule, or learning Spanish during driving time, because it has become 'spare time'. If Adam ever got the guitar to that level, it would not hinder him anymore from singing, and it would start helping him, but initially, yes, it would be work and would distract from singing, while he was still learning. I guess, he does not see that benefit, and therefore does not want to go through the effort. Btw, many guitar players play either by ear or play just accord sequences (A, D, E7, A), etc., so sheet music is not important. Truth be told, as Nile Rogers keeps pointing out in his guitar discussion sessions, as long as yo have only those basics, you cannot support the complexity to make a song interesting. But Adam has such good instincts, that I think he would figure out variations to the base accord pretty easily without going into all the theory, that clearly is not his thing. In fact, he might have some interesting ideas, because he would not come from a theoretical place, but just feel the music. The way things are, he relies on others for the song-writing part. It is what it is.
