Alisan Porter @alisanporter Not everything worked out perfectly with my "record deal" so I went back to the drawing board. My EP is written and I begin production Fri. This is just so sad. How does that show stay on? Besides Alisan, I can't name another winner. At least I can name a lot of Idol winners. The Voice is such a joke. It's all about the judges.

Feel for Alisan and those that truly felt they would actually get a record out there!! And that the Voice could be MORE than just a platform "of visibility". What happens to that 100,000.00--- is that the same as the album costs? Is the money all gobbled up ---aligned with starting an album, paying for recording time, paying technical people/writers? Sending her to various events to sing the anthem? Such a deflating experience working with the "power people who turn out not to support you". She did get exposure and maybe it will take her into other avenues....back to the stage, charity is events etc etc. Just last week there was an article saying Voice contestants did not get paid other than a stipend for lodging meals flights etc. I guess the 17 million Christina was making and the 13 million for Blake and 13 million for Adam Levine tells who or what the show is about! Luckily American Idol made payments to the contestants for the aired TV shows. Plus they had the AI Tour. Everyone wanted to be in the top 10 as it was a chance to work in the industry/make money/build a fan base. Supposedly the top 10 could make 150,000.00 And, of course there was a large amount ...I guess like a signing bonus for the winner and runner- up which could have been cash up front or tied to their first album. I do not know which scenario. Anyone else know? I remember that Adam did get paid, so found the quote below through googling. However, if I read my own intepretation of the quote below...early on with Hollywood week etc, the contestants may have be paid similar to The Voice but I could not find anything specific other than they had to make their own way to all the auditions and call backs. "Then there's the show itself. The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, or AFTRA, pays each top 24 contestant a performance fee: $1,571 plus meals for two-hour Idol shows, $1,303 for one-hour shows and $910 for half-hour results shows. But they all must fork over $1,600 to join AFTRA.Mar 1, 2012"

Unfortunately it seems more money is put into the judges. They are the real stars. And that format has stopped The Voice from producing legit stars. Their treatment of their artists through their Recording Contracts, could also be left to be desired. 19E on another planet. i guess Idol had the Idol tour for a while. Where it allowed the contestents to develop their fanbase, make money e.t.c. After The Voice ends, they could care less. Thank god Adam diddn't go on The Voice in 2009 lol.

TV execs (NBC in The Voice case) cares about the number of viewers and can't care less about the future of the contestants...and I would think contestants are aware of that really simple fact ... so, they choose to be on the show knowing in advance the chances of making it in recording industry are close to none... perhaps the exposure opens some doors anyway, so I suppose it's worth it for them... I am also happy Adam was on AI at the time it was still quite popular and the contracts were still lucrative! not to mention the immense luck of attracting Queen's attention!

Not sure if any of the mentors take an interest in their contestants after the show but Blake is constantly saying that he helps his kids and sometimes takes them on tour, but that is something he personally does! Doesn't look like the show does much. I'm kind of surprised that Christina isn't helping Alisan! She was so enthusiastic about her.

Season 9, Lee Dewyze, tanked so bad that the advances and tour money was drastically down sized after it. The AFTRA scale for episodes, would have stayed though. Remember, the top 12 also get lodging and meals. I would guess The Voice top 12 also get the AFTRA scale.

To be fair to Lee and Season 9 onwards. Afrer Adam, it was only down hill after that. He did really change the game. I mean I Remember S9 the contestents were abusing the lighting and smoking. I mean it was always their. Just up to Adam, no one utilized it properly. OF course well documented by the last couple of seasons of idol, the idol tour was canned. Adam was truley one in a million.

Just a couple of months ago, I went to a David Cooke concert - which was in a small theater in the town next door, basically a renovated movie theater. There were lots of Cooke fans from all over. He was certainly energetic and his local fans *(with their clippings books) were equally energetic with the selfies. Management objected to fans standing up to dance, DC said you can't say that to my fans, with a couple of f-bombs. Management pulled him off the stage, and then when DC came back he apologized. At least management left off preventing fans from dancing. But it's hard to see Idol peeps playing small town venues.

My top Adam live concert experience was Fantasy Springs I. Been chasing that original high every concert since!
