I have often spoken silently to myself in my own private mind that I wish Adam had become famous in some other way than on a singing competition show. I know American Idol gave us the guy we love, but there is a stigma attached to those shows, plain and simple. Some AI alums carry the burden of that stigma more than others. I think if Adam had somehow gotten his "big break" in some other way, he would have gotten broader acceptance and respect from a wider audience. It would have been more acceptable to like him, IMO. He certainly has all the pre-requisites for being a star, but somehow the "fast-track" of a singing show doesn't sit well with some people. Adam has said on numerous occasions that Idol was a "short cut." Each time I heard him, I wanted to shout at him, "Don't say that!" It's the very thing some people don't like. It's perceived as "the cheater's road to fame" or something. I only watched Idol in Season 7 and Season 8. My sisters had been watching it and talking about it, so I joined in. After Adam, I just couldn't do it. I want this new Idol for him so that he will get media attention and further his career. If it's Carrie or anyone else on the judge's panel with him, I don't really care. He can hold his own with the best of them. Well look the problem with that reasoning is. Like Adam said, being "discovered" rarley happens these days. Unless you have some kinda following or a fanbase. IT is hard to break into the industry. Especially when your mid 20's guy with eyeliner. Convincing a stuffy Middle Aged Exe. Your the next big thing. Is hard. SO i diddn't see idol as a fast track to success. But a platform, to expose Adams once in a lifetime talent to a mass audience. Sam Smith made comments about Idol not being real artists. But these shows give alot of struggling artists a break. And I See no problem with that. And personally I would never change Adams story on idol. And I Would never change AMAS. Its all part of his story. He wouldent be the same without it. 3ku1, I have to say this is a well thought out post and I 100% agree with you.
