Possible unpopular opinion, but I really, really hope Adam doesn't lose out on Idol because of QAL. I'm not one of those fans who breaks out in hives at the mention of QAL, but if more international dates pop up that would preclude him from accepting a judging slot on Idol, IMO that would not be a good trade - especially with all the time he's already devoting to the collaboration this year. Idol would give Adam broad U.S. visibility, which QAL won't do. Of course if the commitments are already in place, so be it, but it would be a shame. Bowing down to your post!! 'Twould be a shame indeed. As much I will be enjoying the 2 upcoming NYC QAL shows, I'm hoping he hops off and does his solo thing soon. </img>

Sure. My gut feeling tells me though that scheduling conflicts aren't the issue here. If Adam ends up not getting the gig, I do hope though that I was wrong and that he was at least asked to fill the position. Agreed that Idol hit the jackpot by getting Katy on board. We have NO idea what is happening in Adam's schedule. Scheduling conflicts are real. Especially if there are arenas booked, etc. Those happen months and months (maybe even a year in advance.) Some scheduling conflicts just can't be worked around. TBH, your gut feeling is based on nothing. There have been plenty of articles naming Adam as being approached. No one knows and probably won't ever, unless 1) he does become a judge or 2) He shares Idol info with us, which he has never done in the past. or 3) We see his 2018 schedule and go "Ah ha!" Haha...that's why it's a "gut feeling". And it is based on previous Adam/Idol hype that didn't work out despite no scheduling conflict. Call it PTSD syndrome. As i said, I hope I will be wrong and in case Adam won't get the gig, he does have another commitment.

Regarding scheduling conflicts, if the issue is Adam being unavailable for the auditions, that could be remedied by taking the opportunity to bring in guest judges, like they did during Season 9 when Ellen DeGeneres was unavailable. If the judges just happened to be Idol alums, so much the better. If the issue is with the live rounds, well, that's another story.
That being said, I'll be surprised if Adam winds up with a seat on the judging panel. If ABC wants to go with either A-list names or songwriter/producer types for the other two slots - and both have been rumored - that would pretty much kill his chances. I do have to admit I was surprised when Chris Daughtry was announced as a judge, and while that story was debunked, I have to wonder what may have been going on to precipitate it. Nothing against Daughtry, and I know he had huge success for years after the show, but as it stands now, he's not particularly buzzworthy. I don't need to recap what attributes Adam would bring to the job, because we all know them perfectly well, but I genuinely believe the media would both love to see an Idol at the table, and would love for that Idol to be Adam.

Hi there! I haven't been around in awhile (real life), but I think Adam would be a great addition to Idol for all the usual reasons. Another item not mentioned here is personality, as in it would be great for all the judges to get along well professionally and even personally. Those who have watched the trainwreck that was Nicki and Mariah can attest to this. Katy and Adam are buddies and respect one another a great deal, and this would be great for the judging panel. Adding another person that fits that mix would make for a panel that is fun, credible and will resonate well with contestants. Just my thoughts...

I doubt the other two spots well be filled by high profile spots. Or big names. Already spent the big bucks on 'katy. Arguably no judge on the voice can compete with her. She well bring all the advertising and revenue in. From what ive read idol well probably fill the other two spots. By lower profile names. So Adam is a big possibility. Just depends what direction they go in creatively. We dont know. Adam may end up having a mentoring role. But I hope he is a judge for all the obvious reasons. This gig can't get any bigger. Oppurtunities, the cred, exposure. Be on all the mags, talk shows. Its not about if idol has had its day. More what the creative freedom it well give Adam. People go on about how Adam loves to perform. How do you think he well get that creative freedom? By doing gigs like this.

Ha just to illustrate how big a "get" I think Katy is, I was on the fence about Adam being associated with the re-boot before, but now I'll be completely butt hurt if Daughtry and/or Legend and/or anyone gets it and Adam doesn't lol - of course we will never know if he was offered and refused if he isn't on the panel but as others have said, his refusing seems doubtful.
Katy being involved not only brings in the advertising dollars, it gives the entire project more credibility IMO. Though her Teenage Dream album was her bigger album, her last one, Prism, had Roar, Unconditionally, Dark Horse, Birthday, and This is How We Do - all charted.

How about being on tour with Queen on another continent! Sometimes, people just are not available!! I still wonder if Idol originally went to DMG for Adam. Then found out he wasn't available but Katy was. IMO, getting Katy is huge! She HeWhoCannot ameds anyone ever on The Voice or XF! ABC needed a major star signed before the upfronts. I think that Katy would have to be on any list of major pop stars that ABC would put together -- I am pretty sure they were not redirected. Since The Voice has two of the biggest ex-Idols, the idea of an Idol finalist judges panel was precluded. [Kelly and JHud committed to The Voice before ABC got Idol.] Adam would be a great judge but he is not a big enough star to impress advertisers. They needed someone big -- and Katy is as big as they get. The other contenders in her league are Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, etc. None of the ex-Idols, including Kelly Clarkson, is in this league. Plus, Katy helps them sign the 3 major sponsors they are targeting. [Pepsi is looking like they might be on board. Coke already has The Voice.] In response to the highlighted parts above... . I can't possibly think of a change in disposition or any other projects and commitments for Adam that would be big enough to turn down this gig, if it was offered to him. We know Adam really wanted the Idol judging slot in 2013 but that was before the QAL Tours and before he was signed to WBR. The show was in LA and the schedule worked really well for him. I can think of a few reasons Adam might not agree to be an Idol judge: 1. They don't offer him a great deal - enough money, terms he likes, etc. [Unlikely.] 2. Adam and his management decide that something else makes more sense for him and they pass. [Unlikely.] 3. Adam does not want to spend so much time in NYC vs. LA. 4. Adam and his management decide that a more limited role in ABC Idol is better for what he wants to achieve. He already is strongly connected with Idol and if he becomes a judge, that connection will be forged forever. 5. Adam is not available in Nov-December 2017 because of QAL so can only take some other role like live performance mentor. I am not expecting to see Adam as an AI Judge for the 2017-2018 season but would be pleasantly surprised. I am expecting to see Adam involved with the show in some way. IF I WAS RUNNING IDOL -- I would pass on Ryan Seacrest and I would hire Adam as host -- pay him huge amounts of money and give him a monstrous, massive clothing allowance. He is charming, funny, quick-witted and would be great with the contestants. And it would be different to have a host who also performed. And I would have him perform every week. #Dreaming! Q3, I really like Ryan as a host, but now I can't get those Adam images out of my head that are associated with your dream....
